Well, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm back, but this time with two other coworkers who were impressed with the alien decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also, [[HIGHLIGHT]]if you're wanting to hear some great 80's music, come to The Bao Spot and enjoy the music while enjoying great Asian food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While they are famous for their bao buns, I decided to try their Chicken Teriyaki Bowl, and wow, it did not disappoint. The chicken was perfectly cooked, savory, and packed a ton of flavor. It's a fantastic, filling option if you are looking for a hearty rice dish instead of buns. My coworkers decided to get the buns and they were raving about how flavorful they were. Ordering was very easy and our food was to brought to our table.
After the Zara Larsson concert, we were starving and stumbled upon this gem at 1:30 AM. Even though their internet was down and they couldn't take orders through their internal system, the staff was incredibly helpful. They walked us through ordering via Uber Eats instead and prepared our food as soon as we showed them the confirmation. They were even kind enough to let us dine in, despite the app being set to takeout. As for the food--it was fantastic. The Fried Chicken Bao was easily the highlight of the night. Side Note: Check the Uber Eats app before you order; they sometimes have Buy One, Get One deals on the bao! Highly recommended for a late-night fix.
I came here for a Star wars event. Ended up getting the Martian munchies. They were good. I'm not even a big fan of brussel sprouts, but something about them being fried with bacon goes really well. I think my only note would be that they do need a sauce. I wish I would have known that because they were little busy so we ended up having to go back to order the sauce and by the time the sauce got there it was cold. I would recommend including an option to add sauce to the Martian munchies. That way other people don't end up having the same problem. The employees brought the food out to the tables and they had some people inside and outside for the event so I felt bad watching them run around. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love how the place is decorated. It feels like a sci-fi dream.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Which is why I wanted to bring my lightsaber chopsticks to go with the theme. If you're in the area, definitely check them out.

Bao Spot is a fairly new spot, and I'll be honest--the vibe threw me off a bit at first. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the outside, I expected something more traditionally Asian-inspired. Inside, it is Asian-inspired... but with a cyberpunk, industrial, almost Star Wars-meets-Hollywood Studios aesthetic. Dark, moody lighting, textured sci-fi-looking walls--it feels a little out of place conceptually, but it's undeniably cool to look at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're unfamiliar with bao, they're light, fluffy, slightly sticky buns--think soft bread without the crust--stuffed with your choice of filling and eaten taco-style. Simple concept, very satisfying when done right. Ordering is done through a self-service computer screen, and they call your number when it's ready. You can also get alcohol here, which adds to the hangout factor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The kitchen is partially open, and the overall atmosphere stays on the darker side, which fits the futuristic design they're going for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]One of the more unexpected (and cool) perks: they host an open mic for all art forms every Tuesday evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's the kind of thing you might stumble into by accident--and end up staying longer than planned. We were looking for somewhere to eat in the downtown area before a show at the Kia Center, and stumbled upon this bao place. Bao is one of my favorite foods, so it was perfect! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is Star Wars-themed, which is so fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order at a kiosk at the counter, and then your food is brought to you. The bao buns are à la carte, so you can mix and match. I stuck with a couple of the chicken ones, which had perfect flavor and tenderness. They were amazing! I was deciding between matcha boba and Thai tea; I decided to go with the matcha, which didn't have much flavor so I was kind of disappointed in my choice. They also forgot to bring it with my order, and I wouldn't have gotten it at all if we hadn't gone to the counter and asked. Overall, amazing restaurant and I would come back 100 times.

Only the workers were speaking.. which was a little weird since they are opened till 3am[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered 3 chicken bao buns... I have to say pretty disappointed, the buns were dry and a little TOO much sauce. The chicken was cooked well, it was crispy... I also ordered a passion fruit boba tea and that was overaly sweet and way too much ice. There are better buns out there, this one just wasn't it.

The chicken and the Taiwanese sauce on it were great, but the buns themselves seemed maybe undercooked? Not sure how they're made but generally they're fluffier and softer, these buns had more of a "white bread-like" texture to them. The passion tea was ok. I asked for it at half sweet and I'm pretty sure it was full sweet, but the cup was also heavy on the ice so I didn't get that much drink. Could possibly try again, but probably not on purpose.
Disclaimer: I would give the location more of a 4 food wise but staff interactions led me to give it a 3. The staff was nice towards the end of our meals in regard to asking how everything was. However, no one greeted us when we came in. There was no one behind the counter and we were kind of unsure what to do until we saw the tablets to place our orders. Would have loved to have had more of a welcome as it was our first time eating here. The restaurant design is unique and reminded me of an escape room! Very lax and chill. The bathrooms were clean which is always a nice thing being downtown. Food wise, as I said earlier, it's def a 4. The chicken bao was cooked nicely and the flavors worked well together! I did have the gyoza as well but forgot to snap a pic. They were delish and the sauce would be something I'd buy if I had the chance!

Here comes The Bao Spot - a quirky, darkly lit joint that offers a mix of bao specials, sandwiches, boba and other drinks. Since a lot of concert goers came around the same time, the staff was very busy but we were able to order at the kiosk. It took around 15 minutes for our orders to arrive - we decided to try an assortment of baos that had crab, panko breaded shrimp, and pork belly. We also shared an appetizer of chicken tenders. What stood out to me was the seared pork belly, the breaded crab, and the panko shrimp which was actually pretty big! I really liked how each bao had its own condiments and paring of pickled veggies, sauces and others. The bao bun itself was soft and pillowy as well. The baos were easy to eat and a great bite to share with groups!
[[HIGHLIGHT]]Has indoor and outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is was really good the yucca bao needed more sauce. The yucca fries and the cheese curds were really good. The food is made to order still didn't take that long. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside was awesome for people watching.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff so welcoming and nice!
Came in on a whim and immediately understood the hype. The bao are perfectly soft, packed with flavor, and not overly heavy which is dangerous because you'll want more than one. Everything tasted fresh and well-balanced, not greasy or rushed. Service was friendly and efficient, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vibe is casual but intentional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is one of those spots you think about later and plan your next visit around. Easily a go-to if you're in the area.

The food is amazing and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the inside is so cute it feels like you just got teleported into space![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was fast you just order at the front and they bring it to your table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went after the club so kind of late and they had an event going on I think it was karaoke or something so that was fun too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The Bao Spot is tucked away in a cozy little corner, and it's definitely worth checking out. Every time I've ordered, the food has been consistently delicious & hot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant and bathrooms are always clean, which is something I really appreciate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have some really cool murals on the walls that add a lot of character.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is a little dark inside, but it gives the place a fun, laid back vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My only suggestion would be to offer their lunch specials for online ordering. Since they don't take phone orders, anyone with a short lunch break has to place their order in person and wait, which can be a bit inconvenient, especially when you don't know how busy they are. Overall, it's a great spot with tasty food, a unique atmosphere, and a clean, welcoming environment. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try! read more
Stopped in The Bao Spot before a show at Sak on a Thursday evening with two friends. We shared the Gyoza, Brussels Sprouts and Yucca. All excellent! I had "The Mojo" and "The Yum Yum". I really enjoyed the Yum Yum Bao, it had great flavor. The Mojo didn't have quite the citrus punch I was hoping for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was very dark (intentionally). I like a dark cozy feel but for me this was just on the side of too dark for a 6pm meal[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Quantum Leap Portal was amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff was very pleasant and helpful in answering questions. Walking into the restaurant, you are transported into a space ship type theme. We ordered through the tablet and picked up a number for our order to a table. I tried the mojo, space kalbi and the rebel bao buns. All 3 was packed and full of flavor! Can't wait to go back to try more! read more
My first experience with this spot was at Yelp Elite event some time back and ever since then, I've visited this spot a handful of times - like today - for lunch. As a fan of baos, this spot does not disappoint. Sadly, I am a creature of habit, so I really only alternate between their shrimp based baos and the space burger. I can say, of my usual order, everything is always very tasty. My favorite bao is hands down, The Yum Yum, followed closely by The Big Bang and The "Mojo." As noted before, I enjoy the "THE" Cheeseburger space burger, the crispy french fries, the Thai Tea, Matcha Milk Tea and the Passion Fruit Boba beverages. They usually aren't busy, so service is pretty good. The staff is nice and the unique space / alien themed restaurant design adds a playful element to the overall experience and menu. Almost feels as if you're at Disney or Universal restaurant minus having to pay theme park prices for said experience. There is ample seating indoors but, as this locale is located in a plaza. So, there is also ample seating outdoors in the open courtyard. Prices points are on the higher side as they offer speciality boas but still quite resealable. Definitely a great little spot to check out if you are ever in the downtown area and craving some baos. I will note, parking can get a little tricky as there aren't a ton of street parking opportunities but there are enough parking garage nearby that you can park in and walk from to visit this locale. read more

Step into a new dimension with me at this out of this world Bao restaurant downtown Orlando. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The immersive theme is stunning and creative. I love the space portal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You order from the self checkout tablet but staff is there to help with questions. I got the The perfect mass ricebowl and it lives up to the name. Love the kimchi and pork belly. You will NOT go hungry so teleport downtown for this must try bite. read more

Came to Orlando for a soccer game and stopped here for lunch before. Quick and easy lunch options. I had the soft shell crab and shrimp bao bun. Both were very tasty. They have a lunch special with two bao buns, fries and a drink for $14! Very good for your money and was definitely filling . You order at the counter and then they bring it out. They were very nice and even came and took our dishes when we were finished. The atmosphere was very Star Warsish. They played a lot of decent music too. But would definitely recommend if you're downtown Orlando. read more

Can't believe how perfect this spot was for the given scenario. A friend and I were in town for a Magic game and wanted a quick snack before tipoff. Enter The Bao Spot: two blocks away from Kia stadium, tasty Asian bites, outer space decor. This place was made for me. They even blasted exclusively space-themed tunes over the speaker. I had a pork bao, the slice of pork belly was so thick, juicy, meaty, more substantive than the average bao. It was quite a chunk of meat. I also had a shrimp bao with guac, with a similarly giant hunk of fried shrimp. The sauces and veggies in the bao were on point too. The prices were a touch high and it took longer to get our food than we had hoped (even though we ordered at the counter when there was barely anyone there). Great meal especially for a smaller dinner before a Magic game. read more
If you're searching for a rice bowl in downtown Orlando, this is the place to be. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and clearly made fresh. I particularly enjoyed the fried shrimp with pork belly; it was excellent. However, the rice could have been a bit less dry. The Bao Spot is located on Church Street in downtown Orlando, Florida. With that being said, the only real viable parking is to pay for parking in one of the parking garages. Anyway, the Bao Spot grabs on to an "Alien" type ambiance, so the atmosphere is pretty cool. The service is that you order at the counter and they bring you the food. The staff here was definitely friendly and added to my overall culinary experience. The Rebel, which was a soft shell crab bao was my favorite of the meal. It was definitely a tasty treat and I would say that it was the best part of my meal. The Bao Spot is definitely a great place to grab a meal. I would definitely recommend a visit to the Bao Spot and don't forget, don't dribble around looking for a parking spot, just bite the bullet and pay for the parking. read more

I've been wanting to try The Bao Spot for a while and was so glad to have been provided with this opportunity through Yelp. :) Food: I had the soft shell crab and the Mojo baos. They were LARGE! The soft shell one was my favorite, with the perfect level of crispiness and spiciness. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of meat in the Mojo - 3 slices! Slightly burnt Brussels sprouts is one of my favorite appetizers and this one did not disappoint. I wasn't a big fan of the burger but kudos to such a creative looking burger (it looked like a planet). Service: The 4 items took longer than expected but the girl who helped me was a darling! I don't really go downtown. I should have done a little more research. There is no convenient parking. You have to park in a garage ($15 flat rate). I later found out they offer valet parking Wednesday-Saturday. It's a small, laid back, space themed location. I missed the sign at first look. Once you enter you will see the menu on the wall. To the right the ordering stands. Once you place your order, you get your own drink from the fountain, then you sit and wait. They do offer beer and wine. That's a plus. I wanted to try a burger. Unfortunately they were out of buns. I was forced to try their baos. I wasn't too sure but I am glad I did. The cashier's recommendations were a hit. I ordered the Martian Munchies (Brussels sprouts), the "Mojo", Astro Pig, and the Rebel baos. All very flavorful and well seasoned. I loved the textured and taste of the baos buns. First time trying them. I will have to go back to pick a favorite. I really enjoyed all of them. I will definitely be going back. read more
Pros: the staff is super friendly, helpful and amazing. The food is unique and themed well to the restaurant and the decor is "out of this world"! Super cute spot tucked away in the downtown plaza. Food was made fresh to order and had good quality ingredients. Cons: the parking situation is not favorable. We parked in the 55w garage on a Wednesday non peak hours, and paid $10 to park. I know some even pay upward to $15-20. Considering 2 of us dined, with parking and tip, our tab was over $70 with fountain drinks. I don't see myself coming back at that price point for quick service food. However, there are other aspects that would bring me back such as event nights like dirty bingo etc. my only other cons would be bathrooms were a bit torn up. This fast casual restaurant has the theming down! You really feel like you're in another world. That's why I hear so many great places about it! We came on a weekday before a show at Dr. Phillips. It's only a short walk away. The baos are solid. My favorite was a panko fish bao they had on rotation. I love that they have a rotating bao of the month to try new things. I had the Martian munchies (brussel sprouts) too and I wanted to love them but there was so much bacon flavor that it was I could taste. My friend had them before and it was her favorite so I'm assuming it was an off day. I also had a space cider (which was cider dyed green) and the portion size of the drink was great. However, this was also a miss for me. It tasted more like a pale ale then a cider to me. I'm not sure what brand of beer they're using for it. Overall, I'm excited to come back and try a couple other menu items I had my eye on and see if this place rises to meet my expectations. read more

This place is so fun. Got to do a Yelp event here this past week and also ordered take out food to enjoy at home. Such a fun space theme! The good: 1) Staff was super friendly and helpful 2) Food came out quickly 3) Food was delicious 4) Space theme is unique and fun 5) Easy ordering with touch screens - and you get phone updates 6) Parking at the nearby drive is a quick walk and inexpensive Nothing to complain about. Really enjoyed the food, vibe and location. Definitely park at the garage they recommend - you can walk right down the ramp and through a hall and you're right in front of the place - super convenient. We sampled a few Baos (basically Asian tacos) - they're perfectly sized (think street taco) - and have really well thought out condiments. The Bao of the month was the Birria, which comes with consommé. It was juicy and delicious. We also had Pot stickers - they were moist on the inside and crispy on the outside with a pleasant dipping sauce. They have have a large selection of Baos. In addition to the Baos, they also offer a nice range of appetizers and burgers. The burgers are shaped like UFOs - to compliment the space theme. They also offer bubble teas and a variety of churros for dessert. I didn't get to try those this time, but I plan to go back another time and try some more items. If you're in town late for a show at the Kia Center, or other late night fun, they're open until 3am most nights. Definitely a good place for the munchies. read more
Yum, yum, yum! The actual bun of the Bao Buns are delicious. Soft, fluffy, and overall excellent. Lots of unique flavors too. This time I had the Bao of the Month which was a Japanese Curry Chicken, and The Rebel, which is softshell crab. Both were AMAZING!! The staff is friendly and answers any questions you have. Order either on the tablets or with a host at the counter, and the baos are delivered to you. Atmosphere is so cool! I know the description says "spaceship" but it's straight up Star Wars. The whole thing is so cool, and there's even a giant Zillowbeast coming out of one wall (Clone Wars/Rebels TV show reference). Seriously, this is a must eat. I don't know why it's not more busy, because it really should be. read more

Great lunch spot, highly recommend! How can you say no to bao buns? They have a great lunch special - two bao buns, fries and a soda for $13. I wanted to try all the bao buns, so I got three and a water for $22. They were all very tasty- def spice kick! Staff was super friendly. The inside looked straight out of a Universal Studios set. Love that. Super fun. It's in a really cool area of Orlando too. Lots of fun things to do in this area and a few buildings from 100 years ago. Highly recommend! read more
This is such a good spot downtown. I loved the Yum Yum bao more than the Big Bang. The service was good and we love the decor in the restaurant. I got the green apple boba which I liked but I added mango boba and I prefer that over the chewy boba that comes with it. The turnaround time us a bit long so keep that in mind. We ordered pickup and that helped cut down the wait time. read more

This place has such a cool concept/theme. The staff here are so friendly and helpful with the menu. The parking around here isn't great. I've tried a bunch of their baos and to be honest they are okay but I've had better. I don't think I will be coming back here unfortunately. read more
Arrived at 11:25pm My order was taken at 11:59pm. My order was for 2 tuna poke nacho, 2 Bao Buns and 1 poke bowl to go. I got it almost an hour later at 12:54am. I just took my bags and left. Huge mistake. I should have checked the bags. Once home, there's no sauce or anything on either of the poke nachos. You guys, it's just a handful of fried wonton chips, raw tuna and avocado. NO SEASONING AT ALL. So disappointing. The poke bowl and Bao Buns look ok. I was looking forward to poke. I tried my husbands poke bowl and it was really good. It's just unfortunate that my daughters and my dish were incomplete. ETA: I appreciate the response from the manager. I will try them again, but I respectfully decline the generous offer for a comped meal. I will update my review when I get an opportunity to go again. read more

Yes, absolutely yes. From the minute you walk in you are transported to a whimsical science fiction lounge / cantina vibe. From the artwork on the walls to the alien poking through the portal from another universe, it's a fun and energized space. The staff is excellent and happy to help you decide what you want to get. You can adjust items on the menu if you have an allergy or aversion to something, just ask! I recommend the Astro Pig and the Mojo along with the guava churros!! The parking is a bit of a pain with the downtown area being spread, but they now offer valet, so take advantage of that so you don't have to search for a spot or walk around if you don't want to! Overall: A++ So happy to have this spot in action downtown and rocking great food! read more
I was here for an Elite Week and had to bring my coworkers here. I ordered the space burger lunch special (burger, fries, drink) and got the Philly cheesesteak kind. The flavor was so tasty and balanced. The Martian munchies are fried brussel sprouts with a mayo sauce on the side. The sprouts were season and crunchy with delicious chunks of bacon. The dining room is a very cool place to look around. It's space themed with an alien coming out of the wall and things bubbling or lit up around the room. The food didn't take long to come out and was very fresh. I walked here so I'm not sure what the parking would be like. The employees were friendly and helpful in making our order choices. read more
