We stopped by here as it was the close to us and had vegan options. The sushi here is amazing! I was shocked at how good it was. I'm not sure why the other reviewers gave it so low of a rating but this is a great sushi restaurant in Montreal.

Small restaurant on Notre Dame, very basic decor. The variety of Sushi is limited, but you will find all the classics, kamikaze, California, etc.. beside Sushi for lunch they offer one choice of meal ( today was General Tao)...I ordered a few Makis and some hand rolls... the fish is fresh and overall taste is good. Perfect for lunch our take out.

Spicy tuna and unagi rolls and salmon sushi.

Worst sushi I've ever had. Tasted like sugar with old fish. Do yourself a favour and DON'T go here!

We showed up at 5:30 without a reservation and I wasn't sure we'd be able to snag a table. And honestly, if we had gotten there 15 minutes later, we probably would have had a long wait. So far, so good. We were seated at a table near the sushi bar and there was a vibration coming through the floor that was loud and a bit unpleasant. The prices were a little high which was a little off putting. But, we saw a couple of options - like a sushi boat - on their website ... but it turns out that is only for takeout, which is just weird. Service was slow and the wait staff disappeared at times. Normally, these things would have me deducting stars. But can I just say that the food was so darn good that I can overlook all of it. It was absolutely outstanding. Vegan sushi rich with umami. Rich with flavor. We didn't miss the fish.

The food: delicious, creative, beautiful presentation, plentiful. My carnivore partner didn't miss the fish at all. We have a vegan sushi restaurant near us, but Bloom is better. It was a good value for the money. We left under $100. If I lived in Montreal, I would frequent Bloom regularly. Thank you for a wonderful experience

In my opinion, not everyone gets sushi right, specifically with the freshness of the fish, so we were pleasantly surprised to find Kyo. Our group included 4 people who are absolutely obsessed with Sushi, and so I was curious what their take was. I tried the Snake roll, edamame, and requested an avocado/ cucumber roll which they made for me. The rest of the group tried the rainbow roll, chefs choice Maki combination, chefs choice sushi combination, tonkatsu pork, and the beignets for dessert. Let me start off by mentioning the incredibly kind service we received from the hostess, server, and staff the entire night. On an incredibly busy Friday night, they maintained their patience as the restaurant was completely booked, and were kind and pleasant in every interaction. The restaurant itself is beautifully located in downtown, clean, and spacious. You do not feel rushed to eat. The food was so good we have decided to go back for dinner one more night before traveling back home. The vegetables and fish are fresh, the portions are perfect yet generous, and overall, id rate this restaurant a 12/10. Highly recommend if you're in Montreal and looking for good food.

We showed up on time for our reservation. The restaurant is dark, and sleek looking, so it could be a place for dinner or for drinks at the bar. We browsed the menu, and decided to go light and ended up trying the the following: - Edamame (with Furakake): Good. Soy beans can only be so different between restaurants. I will note that some of the soy beans we got were the biggest I've even seen. Furakake added needed flavour. - Avocado Truffle Tacos: OK. Quite tiny, but well made and tasted good. I didn't get any hint of truffle though. - Wagyu Dumplings: Good. But similar to any good quality non-wagyu dumpling I've had before. Overpriced. - Paradise Maki: Good. I like the texture of the tempura. - White Dragon Maki: Very good. I think the ponzu sauce elevates this dish another level. Service was pretty standard. Did all the tight things, and timely, but not particularly friendly. Overall, it was an OK visit. Food overall was generally good quality, but very expensive for the quality and quantity you get. But I also recognize that sometimes you pay for ambiance, and you certainly do here.

Located on the 45th floor, you can get beautiful panoramic views of the city, including of the St. Lawrence river. Highly recommend stopping by to watch the sunset transition into nighttime. Now onto their menu- I was expecting a bit more food options, but they really only have light bites/appetizers, so I'd eat elsewhere beforehand. I ordered the Wagyu brioche, which was incredible, but I wasn't as impressed with the crispy hosomaki, which was overly salty and didn't have that much dimension of flavor. The drinks were incredible and innovative though, incorporating authentic Japanese flavors and three eras of Japan's history. The bartenders and staff were very friendly and accommodating, managing to snag me a much coveted bar spot without a prior reservation.

Definitely looking forward to coming back next time we're in town.

You can also order to go here I believe. They really operate efficiently, expect fast service! Tables are tightly situated and there's a cozy bar situation where I sat this time, able to watch the chefs cook right in front of me. The daily specials are posted on their Instagram page, as well as written on pieces of paper around the restaurant. My server quickly helped me to water and a glass of sake. I placed a to go order for one of the daily specials, the grilled sea bass with sushi rice and salad, with some kimchi. I also ordered the BBQ chicken with tortilla and salad, as well as vegetable gyoza. Everything was incredible. Truly. The gyoza came topped with green onions and was SO crispy and hot and was perfect with their soy sauce. I thought sea bass was wonderful with a unique almost smoky flavor that melted in my mouth paired with the slightly sweet sticky rice. The barbecue chicken was great as well and better the next day. One thing I don't really understand is why they served plain flour tortillas cut into quarters with their food. We didn't utilize this, nor the white butter/mayo sauce that came alongside it. I hope to eat here often, for years to come and am so happy to see this iconic Japanese restaurant still thriving years later.

Once seated, things happen very quickly...it is go, go, go (in the best possible way.) We ordered appetizers first, the tempura green beans with a delicious truffle mayo, gyoza and the tofu salad (they make it fresh every Sunday). Green beans were everyone's fave, but I have to mention the (pickled?) vegetables on the salad. So flavourful! Also tried the egg drop soup which is so tasty. Mains were the salmon tuna bowl, the beef short ribs, the shrimp burger, and 48 hour pork with curry sauce. Everything was wonderful! Finished with their soft serve ice cream, I had the cherry blossom but one of us had the sake, which is a shot of sake poured on top. Amazing! You can even have wasabi or ginger... I'll try that next time (and there will be a next time soon!)

They did an excellent job on flavors, textures, and sauces - it is so much more than your basic avocado roll! My favorite part of this place - they have 2 Omakase Experiences that are offered, and NOT everyone at the table is required to order. We did the Regular Omakase Experience between 2 people and it was a great way to taste all the popular items and then filled in with a la carte options. Regular Omakase Experience: (1) Edamame - Opted for this instead of Miso Soup (2) Crispy Gyoza - Perfectly crunch and paired very well with the almond butter-kimchi sauce (unexpected good!) (3) Mangoo - excellent flavors (4) Orenji - excellent textures (5) Rock & Roll Spicy - the apple in here was unique and delicious (6) Kamikase Somon - the texture of the vegan salmon was not for us (7) Avocat - similar to an avocado roll (8) Brownie - very rich and dense, wasn't for us. A La Carte Options: (1) Arancini - their sauce made this extraordinary (2) Mr.Crunch Roll - If you're not a truffle fan, this may not be for you (3) New Delhi - pakora meets sushi PS: Make a reservation. While there wasn't a wait, it was still a busy restaurant for Friday dinner.
