Sashimi lunch combo minus the miso and side salad $20
Amy J.

$20 lunch special. Sashimi was good. Kinda fatty but can't argue with soup, salad, sashimi, and some California rolls when you're craving it for lunch.

I've been going to this sushi restaurant since 2019 and it has been consistent in every way: awesome menu, great value and most important fresh fish. The same hospitable crew has been running this place. The atmosphere is your typical sushi place with a good conversation noise level.

Miso soup and ginger salad.

Ohashi Sushi...not for the faint of stomach or light of wallet but worth every single penny. Everyone was so warm and friendly. The ambiance is a bit kitch but the small number of tables kept it an enjoyable experience. Now, on to the thing everyone wants to know about...the food. Very few things in life can be described as perfect...sunsets, a basketful of puppies...the exact song coming on the radio the second you want to hear it...and Ohashi Sushi's food. The Angry Californian roll blew my mind...the textures were spot on, the rice ratio was dead to rights, and the flavors complimented each other with nothing overpowered. Then the teriyaki chicken was jam-packed with smoky flavor and succulent beyond belief. The tempura vegetables were crispy, tender, and loaded with flavor. Definitely headed back there...can't help it. It is now a universal imperative.

Romantic vibe
Large group friendly

East side and west side - which don't talk to each other (1 of 2)…read more In this metro area, there is a sharp divide in that what is west of downtown and what is east of downtown don't tend to mix. It could be the distance, but that's no excuse since the freeways don't see traffic like the heavily trafficked cities in America. It's also that it's provincial! I was visiting a friend who lives in this very community on the west side and, since we sometimes visit the same restaurants, I dug up Arashi, located across the street from manicured Stepford-centric Crocker Park. Crocker Park is not a park, but a somewhat upscale mixed use retail-office-residential development. Arashi is a long-standing Japanese restaurant. I suggested it in part because I don't often eat Japanese food. Also, my friend has a few dietary restrictions and I am not a nutritionist. Eating Japanese food for lunch met with approval. As for me, I just avoid the few things I've known to have a negative effect on my digestive system as well as spicy food, the latter of which I flat out despise. They feature sensible lunch combinations. One can pick from the hibachi section of the menu or the regular section. We chose the exact same thing - hibachi chicken lunch - except that my friend had the mushrooms omitted. The chicken platter comes with rice and vegetables as well as soup. I also ordered the tea service. The latter is not free of charge like it might be in some Chinese restaurants. All of the food was very tasty. As for the soup, we ordered the miso soup and the onion soup. My onion soup was delicious. The problem, with which my friend concurred, is that the soup bowls were small. I could have had three times that amount of soup. I could have eaten more of everything! There is portion control at work. The interior of the restaurant is simple and tasteful, with only small hints of ethnic flavor. The regular restaurant is outboard by the windows, the room with the hibachi grill is inboard, and there is a bar between them. They have sushi and there are people who will order that, but I'm not one of them. The service was polite and got the job done. The pricing for the lunch specials seemed about right. My friend, who has lived in Europe for years as well as Asia for a few months, said arashi meant something but forgot to follow through. I looked it up and arashi means a storm or a tempest. From my L.A. days, I only know about 20 or 30 Japanese words, two of which have to do with climatic or geological matters - yuki and jishin. Yuki means snow and some Japanese women have this name. Jishin packs a meaner punch - it's an earthquake. So, rather than experiencing a jishin, I'd rather weather a fictitious storm (arashi) here and have a reliable low-key Japanese lunch.

Nice sit down Thai restaurant. Pretty large dining room but…read morethere were always some seats available, even though it was fairly busy on a Tuesday night. Two page menu gave plenty of options, but it wasn't overkill like many Chinese food menus. Red curry w/ jasmine rice I ordered the Pineapple fried rice, which was delicious, w/ chicken veggies & curry & a zero spice level. Others tried: Vegetable stir fry w/ white Jasmine rice on side (spice level 1) & Yellow curry veggie (delish) with rice on side (spice level 2), & Red Curry veggie w/ rice (level 3/5). It was nice you can pick level of spice on any dish. The level 2&3 was too much for me, 1 woulda been perfect. Servers were very polite & very much on it. We sat over 2 hrs & they refilled drinks the whole time. The prices were probably in range w/ other Thai places but a tad high ($16 for ours) if I compare to a fast casual Mexican or Chinese which give just as much portion.

Was recommended by a friend. Finally able to try it out…read more They have what I think is a parking lot to the side. Nice and friendly staff. Ordered their Thai wings. Wish it was a bit more garlicky or had more than just soy sauce marinade taste imo. The wings were cooked nicely. I got level 3 spice of their pad Kee mao. Delicious, the spice doesn't hit you right away but instead steadily builds while you continue to eat. Also got their mango sticky rice. Mango wasn't too sweet but you had the condense milk on top plus the glutinous rice is always good. They also offered other dishes too, and interestingly they were offering I think Japanese dishes and had Korean soju.
