This was the shrimp that is in all the pictures that should also be on the garlic noodles....
    Ken K.

We were in the mood for Hawaiian and went here. It was our second time and besides being a bit expensive, the food was good, so we were looking forward to it. My wife wanted garlic noodles and wanted to add the shrimp to it. Based on past photos from customers on Yelp, we thought we were going to get the jumbo shrimp, but the picture shows what we got instead. A few measley mini shrimp with some garlic on it, for $6.50 extra. When I took it up and asked, the girl said that's what it comes with, and when I showed her pictures, she insisted that's what it is. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she says there are none. I couldn't take it out on her, she's useless, but it pissed me off and I won't be coming back. Rip someone else off.

    Luau Plate and Oahu Plate
    Keri C.

Man, I really wanted to love this place! What we ordered: 1 Oahu Plate, 1 Huli Huli Chicken plate ( Luau plate?) and the summer rolls Let's start with the biggest disappointment, the Mac salad! Both the meals came with it and honestly this is what I was craving the most... question - WHO PUTS CORN AND PINEAPPLE IN THEIR HAWAIIAN MAC SALAD?! Not my jam AT ALL... I do not want to taste sweet corn in my Mac salad. Literally had two bites, bland aside from that even. Garlic shrimp - good EXCEPT they keep the shell on which is very annoying and makes your meal very messy. Huli Huli chicken - this was actually really good, no complaints Summer rolls - we got one shrimp, one chicken, one beef. The beef was nasty. Not a fan at all. The size of these rolls were really good though, larger anticipated. Price - this meal was way too expensive for not being amazing! We specifically went in to order because the prices seemed crazy to order for delivery and even going in I think this cost us around $50? For not even a sit down place, no thanks. Customer service- the guy who took our order was very nice. All in all, will not be going back unfortunately, would not recommend either.

    10/10 Chicken Katsu!

Food is so delicious and flavorful. I ordered Chicken Katsu and let me tell you, it's the BOMB! 10/10 recommend You get a LOT of food for the price. Thank you sweet Tiale for your service and for being so helpful! Definitely be back when she's working! Super chill atmosphere to have dinner with your friends and family. Everything is also very clean and tidy. Organized and neat.

Something different for a change in Riverside: Hawaiian inspired Asian fusion food. Overall taste good. Customer service okay. Ambiance decent. Note: their online order system is not ready so don't place online orders. Come into the store and place your orders either for dine in or take out. Today marks their 3 weeks of grand opening :)

Hawaiian garlic shrimp with garlic noodles? It was not. Just a pile of spaghetti noodles in a huge pool of oil tossed with shrimp.

The pic says it all. Too sweet and too much oil! Supposed to be Hawaiian style garlic shrimp with garlic noodles. It was nothing like what I have had in Hawaii. Or even at other Hawaiian restaurants on the mainland. :-(

Ordered the Aloha Plate which comes with, per their menu description, "battered boneless chicken tossed in orange pineapple sauce". It's garnished on top with pineapple pieces & green onion. Had a decent flavor and was filling for what it was. Like a bougie version of a 2 item Orange Chicken plate at Panda Express. The Mac salad it came with was not good at all. Compared to the Mac salads you get in Hawaii and also at Ono Hawaiin here - it was very watery, and had corn in it which gave it a weird off putting taste. With a can of coke it'll be over $20 which seems high but it is what it is I suppose.

Located inside a large strip mall complex, you will at first think that you have to pay for parking or get it validated but you do not. Just drive in, take the ticket and parking is free. No validation is required unlike what the sign says. With that in mind, there is plenty of parking. Went there for a late lunch and the place was fairly empty. Staff was friendly and offered us free samples of the wide array of juices they offer which were all pretty good. We had the luau plate and aloha plate for our meals. Food took about 10 minutes so came rather quickly. While the cost is a little higher than other faster food places, the quantity of food is pretty impressive and their Mac is very good. Both meals were overall good and I left feeling full and satisfied. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. I would return here.

    katsu pork rice bowl

The katsu pork rice bowl was savory and delicious. I made extra rice for this and broccoli as the meat portions were generous enough to increase my grains and vegetable portions.

    Aloha Plate

Inside is just a little hole in the wall in University Village, but this place is a must try! If you even remotely like orange chicken then you HAVE to get the Aloha Plate. It has incredible flavor & texture unlike anything I've had before, and it makes it an absolute must try. The macaroni salad was a great side, especially with the sweet corn mixed in, but the green salad fell a little flat next to it (next time I'll probably sub for more Mac Salad honestly). But overall the Aloha Plate chicken was the best part of the whole thing!! The spam fried rice was also PHENOMENAL, especially with the pineapple, and especially on day 2 when I threw fried eggs & a little sriracha on top. Spam musubi was pretty good, but wasn't the best I've tried. It was a little dry, and could've used more sauce. Everything was exceptionally fresh, but that also meant it took a little bit of time to get the order and that the cost was pretty high for two plates and an appetizer. Even so it was incredibly worth the wait and the $ because of how big and BOMB the portions were.

    Oahu plate jumbo shrimp
    Mary N.

Came here for the Oahu plate because of the photos and was not disappointed! It came with crispy jumbo shrimp, rice and macaroni salad. It's on the pricey side but the flavor was there. I also got the curry katsu and that didn't have any flavor at all. If I am ever craving shrimp, I would come back for that.

I ordered the katsu chicken. Dam that was good, crispy but not dry, just perfect the way it should be. The egg rolls were very tasty. Again service was amazing, friendly staff. The ambiance was warm and welcoming with a quote on the wall that said, "Ohana means Family" awesome place

    Oahu Shrimp Plate

Walking into the restaurant there is Hawaiian music playing along with lovely colorful decor. The service was great! I was greeted upon walking in by a one of the workers and helped me navigate through the menu. On to the food... I got the Oahu(Shrimp) Plate and the Volcano (Shrimp) Plate. Oahu plate felt like a Hawaiian paradise from the first bite. The shrimps are HUGE and cooked to crisp perfection. The flavor is brought by the combination of butter, garlic, and whatever magical ingredients that bring the shrimp all together. In addition, the Mac salad that the plate comes with has a nice blend of savory and sweet tones. The bits of pineapple within the Mac salad are refreshing and give a more dynamic tone to the dish without losing it's classic Mac salad feel. SECRET MENU ALERT: The Volcano Shrimp is not featured on the menu but can be ordered. Context, my friend ordered the Volcano Fries and I really liked the flavor as it had a nice spice kick to it so I asked if that sauce could be put on the shrimp like the Oahu Plate. I would like to believe I conceived the idea for this secret menu item but it may have already been apart of the menu somehow. Either way, I was pleased with the Volcano Shrimp in how it brought a subtle spice with a touch of sweet to it. Overall, would recommend this place to friends and anyone else looking for some nice Hawaiian fusion. On the menu there is also build your own Vietnamese spring roll and bowl... I didn't get a chance to try those but will def be back after the stellar Hawaiian dishes I had.

    Calamari
    Jennifer P.

I have been looking for Hawaiian food nearby and this is my favorite! Esp loved the calamari rings, they were so delicious and not tough like other places. Service was great and it was in an easy to get to location. I will definitely be stopping by again to try more of their menu in the future.

We ordered the Island Fire Chicken plate, grilled chicken breast plate (I selected teriyaki instead of the lemon pepper), guava pie, and a large drink. It's worth noting that unless specifically listed, they use dark meat chicken. Both plates came with 2 scoops of white rice, 1 scoop of macaroni salad, and 1 scoop of steamed veggies. Island Fire Chicken plate (6/10): my husband ordered this. I did not try it as I do not eat dark meat. The staff likened the spice level to higher than Sriracha. My husband was disappointed it wasn't as spicy as he was anticipating. Keep in mind spice is subjective. He wasn't a fan of the charred bits of chicken as the texture was too tough. He said he'd order it again, but it's nothing to rave home about. Grilled Chicken Breast plate (2/10): I ordered this as it was the only item in the menu with chicken breast (white meat). It was a disappointment. This is completely subjective, but to me, it was giving processed chicken. Like Tyson in the frozen food aisle. Also, it was not cut on the bias so it was difficult to eat. I gave up after one bite. I'll be giving the rest to my dogs. Macaroni salad (7.5/10): tasted good at first, but as I got closer finishing it, it started tasting fishy. I had just raved to my husband about how happy I was that it did NOT have ham. Just to find out it has tuna instead. I do not eat seafood so this was a disappointment. It wasn't great until the fishy taste overpowered it. My husband (who loves tuna) was a fan. Steamed Veggies (5/10): Frankly, it's hard to mess up steamed veggies. I was expecting more broccoli or other veggies on my plate. I got a bed of cabbage and ONE tiny broccoli floret. So did my husband. No shade to cabbage, but I expected more variety based on the menu photos. White Rice (10/10): The only saving grace was the rice. It was as expected. Simple, steamed, white rice. Hula Guava Pie (4/10): My job dropped (literally) when I saw it wrapped in plastic packaging. It was just sitting on the counter between the registers. I guess my greatest disappointment was in expecting it to be like the hand pies at Jollibees or McDonalds. They're obviously not made fresh in house, but they're warmed up and packaging nicely like a sweet little gift. So my expectations were shattered when I got this overpriced pop tart. You can certainly taste the guava on the inside, but it tastes quite processed. I'm a guava snob so I understand I'm being harsh. It did have the same texture as a pop tart. Plenty of parking outside. It's in a private lot in the same complex as a Target and Chick-fil-A. It felt a tad pricey. Without the coupon our total would have been closer to $38. With the coupon we paid $22.80 which felt like a great value since the portions are generous. I love that they have katsu and teriyaki sauces readily available. There's a pump with little cups so you can help yourself. The katsu sauce is vinegary which I'm not a fan of, but my husband enjoyed. We both enjoyed the teriyaki sauce. It wasn't too thin or too thick in texture. The staff was friendly and helpful. My seating recommendation if you dine, as soon as you walk in the door, sit on the right side. The left side is near the restroom (down the hall). I have a very sensitive nose and could smell the cleaning products. It's a non issue if you're not sensitive. Overall, I personally would not be back for myself, but husband enjoyed it. If you're into dark meat, or willing to try a different protein, give it a try and see for yourself. But personally, I've learned Hawaiian food is just not my cup of tea.
