Matcha Sunday is definitely a vibe! I stopped by last Sunday to try their matcha and was blown away. This isn't your average matcha, they have flavors unique to Filipino culture and honestly was a game changer. I tried their "Biko" flavor (brown sugar, coconut, and sticky rice milk base -- topped with toasted coconut foam). It was so delicious and creamy. The coconut really came through and the milk base was flavorful. The staff were super friendly as well. Visiting SoCal and didn't want to do a lot of cooking for Christmas Eve. Ordered their small party platter. It includes 7 trays. A choice of beef, chicken, pork, seafood and noodle dish. It also comes with a tray of dessert and lumpia. Everything was tasty. You can't go wrong with the lechon kawali, beef caldereta, chicken Chopsuey and bangus. The cassava cake was so yummy. Banig is usually closed Mondays, but I saw they started opening for "Matcha Mondays" and had to check it out! FYI: they don't have their normal every day offerings, just silogs, the silog sando, and matchas. I grabbed all the matchas in one go to try. My personal ranking: turon, biko, plain, then ube. The turon was probably the best flavored matcha latte I've ever had anywhere tbh. All the matchas are dairy free too. The silog sando was FIRE and perfect. Their breakfast sando is absolutely divine! I called in to double check they had it and ordered over call. The restaurant was wonderful and had it ready by the time i got there (~10 mins). I added an ube matcha which was an amazing choice. It's a good blend of both flavors with the ube only slightly overpowering the matcha. In my opinion it's the perfect amount of sweetness as it's not too sweet. The breakfast sando is a must have! It is on the sweeter side because of the pork, but the hash brown adds a delicious crunch and balance to the flavor. I could not put it down and I definitely would come again just for this. Finally able to try this place out after going to a yelp event nearby and glad we did. My daughter and I were able to try the silog breakfast with bangus, tocino, garlic fried rice and two eggs I was able to try the two item combo of pork adobo and beef caldareta. I also made ordered a side of beef picadillo. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Parking right outside is plentiful and not too far from freeway. I was in the area and finally decided to check this place out. I knew I was gonna miss the goods because I stopped in a half hour before closing time at 2 pm, and sure enough, they didn't have any ginataan, which is what I mainly came for. =/ Ginataan is a Filipino dessert that I never liked as a kid, but somehow grew to love it over the years. I can make my mom's secret recipe, but I wanted to see if Banig's was legit. I guess I'll have to make a return trip and come in the morning. I walked into an empty dining room that was carpeted (so weird!), and 2 customers were placing their order at the counter. As they finished their order, I looked to see what they had. Most of the dishes were gone, and the garlic fried rice was one of them. I saw the sign for their Sisig Bowl, so I felt I HAD to get that since I am a huge fan of sisig!! I also got a small à la carte order of what looked to be Pinakbet, but the only thing it had was pork and eggplant. The o.g. I'm used to has okra, bittermelon and squash, and sometimes tomatoes. I'm not sure if they usually label the dishes, but I didn't see any. I did see Dinuguan, Fried Bangus (milk fish), Sinigang (I think?), some Longanisa, and Chicken Afritada. I know my Filipino food, but some of these did not look familiar to me. I ate them at home, and they tasted just okay. I did ask for a side of vinegar because for me, it's a must-have to go with sisig. The freshly cooked egg on top was a nice touch, and it had the perfect yolk! However, the sisig itself did not wow me, as it lacked the peppers and other seasonings I've had at most other places. The "pinakbet" was odd because it was missing vegetables, but it didn't taste bad, just a bit salty for my taste. When I come back, I hope to get the full experience. I knew I should have went earlier in the day as places like these are the ones where you lose if you snooze and that I did. Prices are average, in my opinion, but the serving sizes could be bigger. My friend and I came in today to try their new Matcha Mondays menu! I got a regular matcha latte and she got a Biko matcha latte + the breakfast silog sando. As a huge matcha lover I really liked the amount of matcha flavor you got with drink which is nice since most places (especially in the I.E.) tend to water down the matcha flavoring or overpower it with syrups and milk. My friends Biko matcha latte was to die for and tasted very much like the dessert. If you're a big coconut fan I would definitely get this drink especially with the added touch of the toasted coconut flakes on top. The cold foam on top of the matcha also has coconut flavoring too. The service was really good and the workers greeted my friend and I very warmly. We went pretty early on (at 8:10ish) while it was pretty empty and were able to get our drinks right away. read more

We tried the pancit, lumpia, lechon, longanisa, tocino, picadillo, and bangus. The lumpia, lechon, and bangus were my favorite items. Our total came out to $68. Service is quick and nice, but the food was honestly just okay. The tocino and longanisa were lacking any char and flavor. The lechon was overcooked, but I like personally like that. I wish they used thinner noodles for the pancit. Overall, everything kind of had a similar taste to it. I liked that they included sauces on the side for the lumpia and lechon. I called about 12 PM for an order to be picked up around 1:30 PM and I ordered the Lechon kiwali and bongus and pinakbet. when I got there, it was 30 minutes prior to closing since they close at 2 PM and I asked for my order and they said oh we're waiting for Jeremy not for Jen and one of the employees said apparently the guy who took my order had a bad hearing so he got our order mixed up. also, when I was waiting for my order, there was a few families and they got there pretty late so they weren't served any food since they closed really early at 2 PM. since they messed up on my order, they gave me medium sinigang for free. the sinigang wasnt as sour as i wanted it and i didnt get alot of meat either in it. the lechon kiwali was the only one i enjoyed eating. I also ordered the pinakbet and the pinakbet did not have alot of meat really it was bland and there was no flavor. I was really disappointed and sad cause i love pinakbet! The sauce they gave for the lechon kiwali is like soy sauce or something. parking is kind of really tight and closed like I felt like it was for compact cars. i do like how its close to the filipino market lol right next door! read more

Craving Filipino breakfast! Aka, add an egg on it. TSELOG! Just moved to Riverside County, and there aren't many filipino restaurants near us. I am excited to have found this as an option. Ordered - Tocilog and half (tocino - marinated pork) and half tocilog and longsilog (Longoisa - filipino breakfast sausage) both with over-easy eggs and tomato. Quintessential filipino breakfast :) We wish they had beef tapa. Maybe they do on other days. We also ordered a tinola soup, which was good. We opted to get a dozen. Lumpia for my son, and it came our piping hot and super crispy. ** Not pictured, we ordered a bangus and half a pound of lechon Kawali to eat later. Bangus was good and lechon as well. But didn't come with any lechon sauce. NOTES- We went around 10:30am and they had a large variety of food on the line that were available including dessert! One thing we didn't really like was the carpet walking in. :( I feel like it makes the place feel dirtier than it is. Sorry, I just don't think that's the best restaurant practice. I would just rip it out and clean up the cement below. All meals came with a vinegar sauce (sukka) that was actually really delicious. Must have for fatty filipino food. There's also a filipino grocery store right next to it! Super convinent plaza with at least 3 Filipino owned stores. Love to see it! All in all... for one of the closest filipino restaurants near us, we will definitely come back and try more. I went to Banig sometime ago as the restaurant is next door to the Phil-Am Enterprises grocery market. Members of my family (we are part Filipino) use to visit the restaurant. Of course, Filipino food may be cooked and taste differently, depending on the Provinces where the cooks came from. Well, my parents came from the Pangasinan Providence in the area of Manaoag (near the Virgin Mary). My mother was a very good cook when it came to Filipino food. Unfortunately, she had passed away sometime ago. I have mixed opinion about the Banig restaurant. Pehaps, I am partial to how my mother cooked Chicken Adobo, Lumpia, Bibingka (rice cake), Sinigang (fried rice), even Pancit (rice noodles). I had made the mistake of coming into the Banig restaurant right after it opened at 11:00 a.m. to order Pancit. I ordered it to go to eat at home. After my brother and I ate it with rice, we both got very sick. Most likely the food was leftovers from the night before and was not healthy. After that experience, we never went back to Banig again. A word of caution: (DONOT VISIT A RESTAURANAT RIGHT AFTER IT OPENS, AS YOU MAY GET LEFTOVERS FROM THE DAY BEFORE AND IS NOT FRESHLY MADE). I know it takes a lot of effort to cook very good food. But, I have tried a number of foods from Banig and was not fond of any. I think I am more partial to my mother's cooking. Even Banig's Lumpia is different. I think it depends on the Province the cooks came from. My mother cooked Lumpia using both meats and vegetables. Chicken Adobo in Filipino restaurants do not taste right, and it is suppose to be a simple dish. Certain ingredients are missing. There use to be a Filipino-Chinese restaurant off Perris Blvd. called Red Dragon Express. They had good Pancit. It had closed and was not there very long. There is now a China Bowl restaurant in place of it. I think I would have to travel a distance to find good Filipino food (there are some Filipino/market restaurants in Temecula, even in the Los Angeles area). There is a Fil Am Oriental Market in Cathedral City near Palm Springs that serves good Pancit. I think it is best to cook your own Filipino foods at home and cook them according to your taste. read more
