After my review 1 year ago, I thought it was time for an update. We have been coming to Dumpling House on a regular basis since my first review of 4 stars because its is just that good. The staff is great and the food is amazing. We have expanded into other dishes which was hard for us because we so love the handmade dumplings, soup dumplings, pork belly buns and brisket soup. There are just so many wonderful dishes to try and we have made lots of effort to happily do so. Dishes are not drowning in heavy sauces but are light and well prepared. Dumpling house is a gem. read more

Food was really good. Good Vegan/ Vegetarian options. Really impressed with their selection, pricing & portions

Great dumpling house far from Chinatown. I visit whenever in the area . Highly recommend the pork belly roll .

This restaurant is very promising. We loved the house pan fried dumplings. The pork buns were delicious and rivals the pork buns we had at Momofuku. The cumin lamb kabob was cooked perfectly and very tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful in helping us choose dishes. We will be back! read more

They have a drive-thru! A drive-thru for dumplings! You call and place your order ahead of time and can pick it up at their drive-thru window. Reasonable prices. Great dumplings! I recommend the pork and chive dumplings. They could've been wrapped nicer and had a better appearance, but satisfies. read more

Food is so unbelievable! Best in Rochester! I will be suggesting this place to everyone that I know plus some! Yum yum yummmmmm!!!

everything was as expected! dumplings and bao were fully loaded with stuffing and flavor, and the peanut noodles were pretty spicy but very good. read more

Wow! Best pork belly buns I've ever had! And the fried house dumplings were really good....the basil was plentiful but not overpowering! The Dan Dan noodles were so flavorful and actually spicey for most restaurant food catering to the American palate (and I am no noobie when it comes to heat)! The Singapore noodles were delicious as well, and the curry was just right; chock full of chicken and pork--a little light on the shrimp, but thats ok. The portions were very large and required a take home container. The prices were totally affordable and appropriate given the quality and quantity! The restaurant appeared clean, as did the restroom. What a great place! read more

Everything was fairly good, and yelp rankings tend to be very strict with everything 3 meaning subpar while 4 is ok 5 is great. I would give this roughly a 4.2ish if possible as it definitely has potential to be a 5 with just few changes. Tea cost extra, but i got a very generous pot of fairly decent loose leaf for 3 dollars so thats all good. Lamb skewers - portion size was good 3 skewers of 4 pieces each for 7 dollars. Good char but the seasoning seemed a little lacking. I know its a thing that some places do, using whole cumin seed in addition to powdered cumin, but I'm not a huge fan. They tended to get burnt so it just added a lot of bitterness without much extra cumin flavor. It would have been nice to have more a secondary flavor profile if possible (garlic powder, ,more szechuan peppercorn etc). Seasoning seemed uneven as a couple pieces could have used a little more salt but most were fine. Xiao long bao - best I've had in Rochester so far but thats a pretty low bar. Its unfair to compare this to the stuff you would get in Flushing, NY but thats the only bar I have. Soup could be more rich, skin could be a little thinner. Just a little more attention to detail like making sure its fully on the paper so it doesnt get torn by the steamer basket would have been nice. Enough to satisfy a craving but dont expect big city chinatown quality. Fried pork and napa dumplings - quite good. Seasoning was good, portion size was adequate. The dumpling sauce balance was good but the chili oil wasnt spicy at all. Its like they drained some lao gan ma (which isnt neccisarily a bad thing) but barely provided any kick whatsoever. If it was fried a little more golden brown that would have been great. Service was good and fast. Place is clean with good ambiance. Look forward to trying more stuff on a future visit. read more

You wouldn't expect a lot out of this location, but the food, staff and environment was amazing. My husband who is usually picky about going out to eat, had not a single complaint. The staff was extremely respectful and nice, answered all of our questions with positive attitude. Even the left overs are good. I'm honestly looking forward to going back. The pricing is also very fair for the amount of food you get. It is family style so the portions are enough for the table to share. I highly recommend eating here! read more

Checked this place out recently. We got an order each of the pork/chives and lamb/carrots dumplings. These were pretty good, we got them steamed instead of fried, and I felt like the shells were a bit undercooked, but the fillings were tasty. My wife likes Crab Rangoon, so we went for that also. I had one and that was enough for me, she finished them and commented that they were OK. The crab rangoon was heavy on the cream cheese and light on the crab, not a good ratio for me. Finally we ended with the Lanzhou spicy beef noodle dish. That was definitely spicy and tasty, it was easily my favorite part. We can say we tried the place and it was OK, but I won't be back any time soon. read more

First time there and the air conditioning broke, ten minutes later it was working and we had the best lunch we have ever had. The food was wonderfully flavored and we ordered a lot. Even the hot and sour soup was spot on. Being an Executive Chef for a living I give their service and food 5 stars. They still greeted with smiles even with the extreme heat in the restaurant and amount of guests. Keep it up, we will be back soon. read more

Incredible. We had the pan friend pork and scallion dumplings, steamed vegetarian dumplings, and the flat rice noodles and were pleased with all. read more

Stopped in for takeout late afternoon on a Sunday. Was surprised that about half the items were crossed off on the menu! We were trying for the first time, so I asked a lot of questions, and the guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. Tried to get something in every meat and style they offered to later share with my husband. (No lamb was left tho so he was sad about that) I knew ahead of time the wait for the food could be awhile, so I honestly didn't even pay attention to how long it was, nothing crazy. They got the order correct, tho wrote the wrong thing on one of the boxes which made me nervous lol but it ended up being what I wanted. Everything was very good, but nothing made me say "this is the best _______ I've ever had!" I think my favorite was the beef curry plate. I'd also like to try more bao, we don't get those many other places. The soup dumplings definitely could've had more soup inside. Overall, I think the price is a little high for what you get but I do understand they're making everything from scratch and that's why. I am definitely willing to try it again in a few months when they've worked out some more of the kinks. read more

I can't say much because I really didn't eat much, the place is nice, I just don't care for dumplings, I recommend it though

I've been wanting to go here for quite some time. I absolutely love dumplings but hand made, sign me up. The dumpling alone are a reason to go back. The dough is nice and thick and filled fully. I ordered the pork and chive based on yelp comments and that was a great choice. I did order them steamed instead of fried but honestly so great. The scallion pancakes were ordered as an appetizer. Honestly, I wouldn't get these again. They were greasy but edible. I love soup dumplings nice and hot and ordered the Xiao long bao. I'm currently only ordering takeout and takeout does take away from some of the deliciousness of food. I pictured these dumplings hot and popping in my mouth. I will say that even for takeout there was still soup inside and they did not lose any of the flavor. We had two entrees the basil chicken fried rice and tofu with spicy peanut sauce noodle bowl. The fried rice was not only filling but there was just so much of it. This could feed an entire family. The rice was filled to the brim and just felt like it kept coming. It was good. The noodles were flavorful but stuck together. I hate clumping in my noodles but again this was very good. I honestly did not know they were spicy until I looked back at the receipt. They were not spicy. The tofu was good and not soggy. Again, warm they would probably be so great. I would give them a 3.5 overall. I loved the dumplings but did not thing that anything else was too life changing. read more

I really wasn't sure what to expect when we went to the Dumpling House for the first time but the OG Dumpling House totally exceeded my expectations! It was so clean inside the workers were so kind. And the food was absolutely incredible!!! Every single thing that we ordered was so delicious and I would definitely recommend going. Very fast service. I'll definitely be going back many times in the future! read more

Food was good, but I had better. Service was good though, but $15 for a noodle soup was not worth it.

The hand-made dumplings and the Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings and the Pork Belly Buns were truly delicious! Homemade and fatter and fresher and MUCH better than the frozen reheated dumplings you get at other Chinese restaurants. I will go back for those dishes!!! The Beef Brisket Rice Bowl though was not so much-- there was way too much chewy fat and gristle. Typical of so-called "beef brisket" entrees you find in lesser Chinese restaurants. I was hoping for a nice tender brisket dish. Don't recommend that. Did not love the super loud bass stomping music. read more

We went to the dumpling house at around 8:30 pm on May 1st. The Asian waitress was very rude and inconsiderate. She was talking about us to other customers as well as other coworkers in front of us. We simply asked her to repeat menu options for specific dishes and she gave us attitude and started talking about about how dumb we were to other customers. It was a terrible experience and it is unfortunate because the food was pretty good. I do not plan on going here again because of this waitress. Thank you for ruining my experience. read more

Love the new updated menu, simple and have the variety i like..... their Zhajiang mian noodle dish are one of my favorite now....steam buns are good. But the Xiaolongbao can be better though. Customer service was okay, might need more waiter/waitresses, i had to keep going to the front for my needs. Overall good experience read more

My favorite place to eat in Rochester! You will not be disappointed, every time it has been amazing! Great vegetarian options too! :)

the food was so good omfg service was great too the staff were very friendly and welcoming to new patrons

Dumplings are average. But the Bao Buns are completely inedible they taste like they went through an industrial washing machine. They are flavorless soggy and flat out gross. read more

I've been looking for a place that makes good dumplings. Then we found this place, it had amazing food, best dumplings I've ever had! Also there bowls are so delicious you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Amazing service and really quick! read more

I ordered food to go, estimated time was 6:43 which I was right on time. They were busy, waited at the window for 15 min before they asked me to drive around again because it could take a while which I reluctantly did. I was then behind 3 cars. By the time I got up to the window I had been there for 25 min. I could see my bag once again with just the same 2 items out of 4. They said it would just be another minute. After another 10 min I had to knock on the window to ask to cancel my order. I had been waiting for 35 minutes and half my food was sitting there getting cold for 30. It took another 5 min for them to cancel my order and give me a receipt and the order still wasn't ready. So I sat in my car for 40 minutes, they didn't apologize or do anything to try and make up for it. Worst experience I've ever had ordering food to go from an establishment read more

I love the dumplings especially the soup ones. Service is also amazing. I just wish they gave more portions because 5 dumplings isn't an entree- it is a snack. But otherwise incredible food read more

OG Dumpling House - Kitchen - Dim Sum Near Me - Rochester, New York

The food was amazing here! Atmosphere was a little "cold" but server was great! I've never had soup dumplings and they were delicious.

Wanted some Asian food while visiting Rochester and this was way better than what we were used to. The service was very friendly and quick, the menu is authentic and quite wide, and the food we ordered came out hot and delicious! Absolutely will return on our next trip. read more

We've eaten in 2x in the last 3 weeks. Really enjoyed dumplings and some dry noodle dishes. Looking forward to trying more dumplings & bao, and the noodle soups when the weather turns colder. The food is fresh and very tasty, the restaurant is clean & bright, and the servers are friendly, attentive and helpful. read more

Since there is no negative stars, 1 star would be lowest I can give it. I bought Spicy Beef Noodle and it just horrible. The broth was straight hot water with hot chili oil. The beef was steamed instead of boiling it to create a broth. The audacity to use a spaghetti noodles on asian soup is another level of just complete joke. Another fake asian restaurant marketed to American who do not know better. read more

From the ghost of Mighty Taco, to the standard commercial design of the building, to the drab arrangement of the interior, I had doubts about the authenticity of this restaurant before I even saw the product. I ordered two simple options off the menu. My order took 25 minutes to fill, for take-out. At $18.00 for eight basic pan fried pork dumplings and six anemic soup dumplings, this place is extremely overpriced. You can get better dumplings at Han Noodle, White Swan, even Crepe-N-Go. Give me a hole-in-the-wall run by a husband and wife any day over this, whatever this is. read more

Love this place. Handmade dumplings with flavors you don't always fin. Always leave her with to go boxes, as the portions are large. Very very good off the eaten path for Asian cuisine. read more

Bao buns recipe was updated. Wayyy better. Used to be too much breading and barely any filling. Dumplings are good. Pad Thai and dan dan noodles are missing so many flavors. The pad Thai was just sour and nothing else in terms of flavor. Like tomatoes and lime. Dan dan noodle broth was light and also had the similar sour taste that was used in pad Thai. No richness or depth considering it's supposed to be a meat based broth. read more

Used to go here all the time with friends. Great place for sharing plates and having fun conversation. I always find myself missing the fried tofu, pork buns, crab rangoon, and red bean buns. read more

This is a classic Dumpling restaurant! The Dumplings are fresh, handmade and Made to Order, just like the best Dim Sum houses in Asia. If you want fresh, handmade, Made to Order Dumplings, you have a bit of a wait, but it's much shorter than other Dim Sum and Dumpling restaurants! Have some fresh cucumbers with garlic! And the Dumplings are absolutely delicious! Fat, chewy, and tasty, just like Mom makes them. These are homemade Dumplings! Lovely Restaurant, clean, bright and airy and brand new! And the staff are wonderful, so friendly, helpful and considerate! I can't say enough about Dumpling House! Looks like a place I'll be visiting quite often! read more

Your dumplings are really awful. You should get out of this business right away. You appear not to know anything about this food or how to make it. You use badly done, store-bought wraps, and the same wraps for all your dumplings (the two flavors available). You also use the same filling for both with just some spice at the end in a feeble attempt to differentiate them. In terms of the filling itself, it's at best unimaginative, and at worst lacking in vegetable ingredients and spices to lend a unique flavor. I think you folks are frauds and fakers, and your business will soon reflect that. read more
