This place is located on the Navy Pier. As soon as you enter it is well lit with natural light because the roof is all glass. From the moment I walked up with my friends we were greeted. We sat at the bar and ordered. We ordered spicy passionfruit margaritas. The drinks were amazing and definitely spicy. We ordered oysters and truffle fries. I am not big on truffle but the fries were good and the oysters were fresh. The bartender amongst other people checked on us constantly. Extremely good service. Pretty disappointed. We made a reservation for the rooftop. We arrived early, ordered a bottle of wine and sat outside to enjoy the late fall beautiful weather. Colin the bartender was amazing!! Made us feel like VIPs! Super cool ambiance with amazing views. Time for dinner reservation came so we moved inside to our table. We had half a bottle of wine to finish. Got water but our waiter never came to take a food order. As we sat, we looked at yelp reviews and saw the food reviews were not the best so we finished our wine and headed out. 45 minutes at a table with no server or food. I've been coming to Offshore Rooftop for a while, and the food is still good no complaints there. A few months ago everything felt well maintained, but lately the cleanliness has gone downhill. The bathrooms have had a strong smell, and on my last visit there were no napkins or toilet paper available, which really shouldn't happen at a place like this. Another issue is the amount of bird droppings around the restaurant area. It's noticeable and takes away from the experience, especially considering the great views and atmosphere this place is known for. It's also not ideal to walk in and immediately see the cleaning staff mopping right where customers enter. it feels unsafe because someone could easily slip. In my opinion, the elevators and the rest of the building should be cleaned before guests start arriving, not during peak times. Offshore has a lot of potential and used to be much better in terms of cleanliness. if they can get the cleaning standards back to where they were, it would make a huge difference. read more

Vibes in here are amazing!!! The open floor plan with all of the windows makes for the absolute best ambiance! This is the perfect spot for brunch and I can't wait to come back for the food. We did have to return the brussel sprouts because they were over cooked. Service: I don't even know what to say. I think this was an off night because it definitely took our server like 30min to bring our bill...which increased our parking rate. The view of the lake (especially on firework day) was very nice, they open the side space and you can flood out to watch the show. The drinks are also okay. Nothing special and overpriced but worth the view. The food? Wack. Got a burger and fries that should be simple but took an hour to come out and was cold. I don't need a good burger but cold fries is a crime. Salmon Poke had watermelon (???) and will def leave you hungry. The pasta was good to be fair but I would rather buy 1 drink for the roof access. The service was even worse. Staff just seemed inexperienced. They were kind but they dropped plates and cups all the time which really makes you jump in such a low volume space, food hit the table at random time, drinks and food went to the wrong people. The rooftop is awesome for the atmosphere, not so much for the food. We ordered the smoked buffalo wings and they were average, not bad but not special. The blue cheese dressing was great, but otherwise these were generic. We also ordered the truffle fries and I liked the truffle seasoning itself, but the fries were also average. That's my takeaway - average food, which isn't ok considering their above average prices. However, the venue itself rocks! The views are breathtaking, with the Chicago downtown symmetrically laid out behind you. I recommend walking to the far end, and then looking back at the rooftop bar, to get amazing city views. We had reservations in the evening and we got seated inside. It started off that the table they sat us at was not bused clean when they took us to sit down. They only gave us three plates and one silverware to start. There was very little lighting inside, so our table was very dark until we asked twice about additional lighting. Our waitress was hardly around. We had to yell her down for more drinks, and had to repeat requests for additional soft drinks refills. Food took a while to come out. They never asked us for last call for drinks either. Two people in our party ordered the same dish, and the chef sent out the same dish when one dish was incomplete because they ran out of salmon. read more

I came here for an event - and while I don't usually go to Navy Pier (moreso because I live in Chicago so less likely to go to some of the major tourist spots), I will 100% go back just to come here. First, I didn't even know Navy Pier had this amazing rooftop restaurant/bar, let alone one that holds a world record! The views are just dreamy and you feel worlds away from the touristy sights of Navy Pier. I see why this is a coveted event space. I can't wait to come back during winter too ... the rooftop has a sort of greenhouse indoor structure; I can just imagine how gorgeous it's gotta be during the winter when you're nice and warm inside but see everything outside. Sort of like being in a snowglobe. Second, the drinks - oh my goodness, the bar tenders are amazing mixologists. They had all sorts of recommendations and concoctions, something for everyone for sure. Third, the food - chefs kiss! Everything I had was just some well. But the HUGE standout was the Offshore team - especially Abe! Abe made sure we never went hungry, was so attentive and friendly and hilarious - I would literally go back to Offshore and specifically ask to sit in his section. Thank you Abe for elevating our experience - you made a grade A night into an A+++++! I can't wait to come back to try their brunch. Food is solid one star, like what in the world. Only adding one star because the restaurant and the views are quite pretty. We walked across the Navy Pier to a somewhat hidden entrance, confronted by a security to ask if we had reservations, which we don't but we were still able to be walked in. The vibes were already off when he said we were lucky that we have 3 tables available for the 3 parties of us walking in, only to see that the restaurant is relatively empty. We got half a dozen oysters and they were very fishy and not fresh. It got to be a joke that they charge $3.50 per oysters of this quality? I also got the Kiwi Go Again cocktail which has a decent amount of liquor but no garnish at all. At least a kiwi slice on top would have been good. They really do not put in the effort to make things look pretty, to complement the aesthetics of the place. This place is a very big cash grab - instead of the standard 18-20% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, they automatically make it an 18% gratuity for checks over $100 which is very bad if you happen to want to splurge on some stuff that is over $100. I would avoid this place and just go to another rooftop bar even though with slightly different views. Or maybe just get something cheap and treat that as admission fee because the food is really inedible. read more

We only stopped in to try a drink from the holiday menu and an IPA so I can't say how good the food is but the drinks and service were great! We went during happy hour so the IPA was only $4. The establishment was decorated for the holidays and the sign said, "Worlds Largest Snow Globe" which was really cute. The day we went was really foggy outside but I heard the location is a great spot to see the city views since it's at the Navy Pier. The perfect place for a pre-show dinner before attending Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier. Its floor to ceiling windows provide a a magnitude view of the Chicago Skyline facing south. Shout out to our server MARLA who was warm, friendly, professional. We enjoyed a huge size appetizer of Thai Cheese Curds and a Faroe Island Salmon. While esthetically pleasing to the eye , the food lack seasoning and quality. The prices were fair for where it's located. Notice how those tables are empty? They remained empty for the whole two hours we were there while we sat at a child's table that could barely fit our plates. The whole point of this restaurant is the view -- we got a great one of unoccupied tables that we were inexplicably not allowed to use. I spoke to three different people, including at least one manager, Clay, to ask for a table with a view (we were originally seated in the middle of the restaurant where my head was at eye level with the seats of the people at the bar. Clay said the best he could do was a tiny high top, so we took it. I guess they were saving the larger tables for their invisible large parties. It's really bizarre to NOT accommodate actual customers just in case THREE groups of 8+ arrive on a Sunday night (there was another large table that nobody ever occupied off to the right). read more

I asked the bartender if the guac was spicy when i was ordering and she said it wasn't; I hate spicy food. IT WAS VERY VERY SPICY!!!! and the chips were kind of stale. Came during happy hour and ordered a $6 wine and $6 chips & guac and my subtotal was somehow $16.15. I was never asked if I wanted to leave any tip. My group decided to visit Offfshore after returning from a boat excursion at the pier so we took off walking towards the east end of the pier (several blocks). After arriving we were totally appalled and disgusted that there was a sign stating that there was a private event happening so they weren't open to the public and that's fine and good except there were several seniors in my group who walked the exhausting multiple block distance from the west to east end of the pier for absolutely nothing. Shouldn't there have been signage along the route informing people the venue was closed thereby saving folks that half mile waik?? Surely someone in management should know this,do better. read more

I've been to offshore quiet a few times and eat time it's been a treat. We recently did a birthday dinner with a large group and the service was fast and efficient right from the reservations. The food was delicious especially their sliders. They would benefit from more veggie options. read more

We came in mid-afternoon on Labor Day weekend and while we were asked if we had a reservation and warned there would be a wait, we were sat at the bar in less than 10 minutes. The staff was all super friendly, especially the first bartender that greeted us and made our drinks. I really wish I got her name! It was clear she works for tips and wanted the best money she could get. She made recommendations, she made my step mom a drink that isn't in the menu with no recipe, and was enthusiastic about all of it. The rest of the staff was happy to answer my parents' constant "Ooh what is that you're making"s. The views were great and the drinks were great too! We didn't get the food but it all looked pretty standard for a heavy tourism bar with a 270° rooftop view. Not cheap, but that also comes with the view. read more

This place has gone downhill. I like to bring my boys to town yearly, but missed last year (2024.) This year I was surprised at the difference. This restaurant is always on the list of must-do's! Not sure it will be again. Reservation was at 7, arrived promptly, seated promptly. Then, we were ignored for 20 minutes. Not even given water, watched other people seated all around us, order and receive drinks and apps. After 20 minutes I walked to the bar and told the bar tender our problem. So after ordering mocktails, and an app, it became obvious HE was our server. He kept running back to the bar of course. He did a great job, juggling it all! It was incredibly awkward and for a dress up night during a 1:1 trip with my teenager, it really felt like a bubble burst. We expected at least what we had there in the past and I felt like waiting on us was a hassle. The menu has changed-fewer offerings-no sushi. The steak in the past was high quality and tender-it was not this time. when we were finishing our entrées, a woman came to our table to apologize for ignoring us. I spoke to a manager (I hate being that person) because I wanted to make sure the bar tender got the gratuity that would be added to our total (not optional, added). The manager agreed and it was printed on our check that he was getting the tip. It is very interesting that our server that ghosted us came by and took the check and looked at it. She seemed surprised and left, leaving us without another word. So she thought she'd get a tip for nothing. Bar tender took our payment and cleared the dishes for us. We drank a total of 4 pina colada mocktails and they were removed from our bill. The drink was delicious and the highlight of our night. It's a gorgeous view, great for photos. It's always a good rime when I got to Offshore. You can definitely expect the most beautiful views Chicago has to offer. I was able to get seating outside which was a plus. It was nice day so it was perfect to sit outside. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and it was a hit! My waitress was great. She was super busy but made sure she got me everything I needed and more. However, you still have a fantastic view inside as the perimeter has floor to ceiling windows. The menu is fairly limited and not very diverse. I had the burger and fries, which were both good. Ambiance here is a little confusing. Beautiful place, with the glass windows, open layout, and stunning bar setup, but many of the guests wear tshirts and leggings and sports bras. Little confusing, considering I was looking for something more sophisticated (and was wearing a dress... felt a little out of place). If you can sit somewhere in the back or near the terrace, it feels less casual. Our server and other attendants were all very nice and quick to fill our waters or ask if we had questions. I love when servers give honest recommendations because I'm ALWAYS stuck debating between at least 3 entrees. We got the shrimp tempura sushi, which was good enough for me (not a huge sushi connoisseur or anything, so I prefer the simple stuff), and the fried chicken sliders, which were delicious. Sliders can leave you still hungry, but I felt good about the size of them. Drinks were great! Got the piña drink and an old fashioned. The back patio spaces are beautiful and there are plenty of seating areas and games to play. Was a great place to view the summer fireworks (wednesdays and saturdays). Got some good pics! Sure -- we were outside but we were in the middle of the "back patio" area so there was no view, which I think is the point of going to rooftops (to have some sort of view). And the service was very delayed -- we sat with no waiter for a long time. We got two appetizers and a drink each. The drinks were alright and the food was also alright...
