Probably the best pro-shop in the Bay Area. The shop is very well stocked with all the latest balls and the staff here, from what I know, are very reputable in the local bowling community. If you are serious about bowling, you can really go the extra mile here and work with them to find your PAP and customize your drilling layout based on what you want your ball reaction to be and your bowling style. Otherwise, if you are a beginner or are just a casual bowler that isn't too concerned with getting into the nitty gritty of all the bowling technicalities, they will set you up a generic benchmark layout here, which is what I go for and it has worked out well for me so far. Once your first ball is drilled, all your dimensions and preferences are recorded in their system for a faster process in the future. I hadn't bowled in years. I went in and asked for some help and was treated respectfully by all Pro Shop employees: casual vibe, friendly smiles, great attitudes. I was given suggestions based on MY goals, not their bottom line... When I picked up my ball I was checked to make sure I had what I needed, "this is good for just getting back... we'll be here when you want to upgrade or have ANY questions." AWESOME I took the ball out for a spin immediately and had a great time... but something was off. I went back to the shop before they closed and said "It hurts when I..." I was immediately given advice by two employees and suggestions on how to make adjustments (which helped dramatically). Point is: they know what they are doing. They all know how to bowl. They know which gear will help with your problems. They know how to help you get better. They know they only benefit from giving good advice to keep bowlers healthy and happy. I looked up the best pro shop in Northern California and off the sheet pro shop came up. They not only lived up to the hype but they went beyond it. Mr. Wong is very courteous and professional while Dylan is the man. Dylan took care of me and he is by far the best in the area. This kids going somewhere and hes gonna be successful. The pro shop is like most pro shops and they are indeed busy due to league bowlers but they do their best with getting you out the door in a reasonable time. Turn around time for drilling three balls was an hour when they were slower which is by far great compared to anywhere else in Northern California. Great local pro shop with amazing package deals. But as a disclaimer, I am a complete amateur/novice and know absolutely nothing about the sport. Met with Lindsey to get setup up with a ball and ended up purchasing shoes and a bag as part of the package deal. Lindsey was probably super annoyed with the amateur questions I had, but it never showed and the setup he recommended for me is awesome. My game has improved and I'm no longer the first place loser, but I won't be competing in any tournaments any time soon. DJ is the man to see.. He knows what's up.. and will take care of you... even if certain people who roam around the shop screw you over.. Came here to take advantage of the package deal.. (shoes, ball and bag).. Ordered what I had wanted since they didn't have it in stock.. and then my gf was able to get her stuff that day since her stuff was in stock. Came back a few days later after DJ called and told me my ball was in... Came in that evening.. and alas... my ball was nowhere to be found. Eventually after searching around for awhile... DJ found the box for my ball. It was empty. He promptly apologized and told me how the shop had college kids come in and had somewhat free reign over drilling whatever.. and though my ball was apparently set aside.... It was taken anyway. I might have been pretty angry.. but it looked like DJ was even more upset about the situation than I was... That showed me how much he cared towards his customers.. and that meant a lot to me. Frustrated.. DJ was willing to help me out and reorder it at a discount... but leaving the shop that evening empty-handed was something I didn't want.. So.. we found the same ball.. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you come in here, they are willing to sell you anything as long as you're willing to spend money. I came in and bought a ball way over the weight for my body size and I was told I should have no issues at all. A day or two later when my wrist was hurting I had done some research and found out that you should never bowl over 10% of your weight, I weigh 129 and was sold a 15 pound ball. My husband and I went to this pro shop to get two new bowling balls drilled. There were 2 workers in the store, both of them doing nothing. They told me we needed to make an appointment to get our balls drilled. I asked if we could "make an appointment" for right now since they weren't busy. No, we have to wait 6 days before we can have our balls drilled. It is a decent drive to get there, too. The reason we chose this pro shop was because it had such high ratings. What a huge disappointment. I give 3 starts due to poor customer service, but am holding out hope that they do get our balls drilled without issue next week. I previously wrote earlier in the week (the above piece) that I wasn't overly impressed with this pro-shop. I have now visited for the second time to get our balls drilled and my husband and I were greeted very nicely. They were patient, positive, and sincerely apologetic. We came a bit before our appointment time, but they helped us early. Our balls were drilled while we waited, which honestly didn't take very long. They even gave us a voucher for 1 free game to try them out and get the balls corrected if necessary. I've been bowling on a weekly basis for about two months now and am really enjoying the sport. I committed to buying my own bowling ball to better my bowling score average. Thus, I purchased my first bowling ball online, the Storm brand "Tropical Storm" (in the very powerful, borderline pungent, scented pineapple splash fragrance) and took it here by recommendations from my bowling friends to get it drilled. Yes, you read that correctly: drilled. I didn't realize until recently that bowling balls are sold without finger holes--which makes sense as your personal ball should be drilled to the specific measurements of your hands for optimal play. I've been in this shop a handful of times before getting my ball drilled and I feel that it's important to emphasize that this shop--along with the bowling alley--gets busy. They do what they can with the volume of people for this small shop. I came on the busy President's holiday on Monday and waited about two hours to have my ball attended to; There were three people ahead of me in need of a variety of services. During my wait I went to the bar for drinks and played two games before they personally came out to get me. I appreciated this very much. Lindsey was very detailed in measuring my hand and fingers for my very first ball. He looked at my swing along with fitting my fingertip and thumb inserts. Unfortunately my fingers were too small for other color choices than black, but they still worked out for the ball color anyways. I did still get to chose the color for my thumb. I went back to the bar as the ball waited to get drilled. When I returned, the gentleman who originally came out to get me (I didn't get his name, but I like him too) had me roll my ball to him twice. He was also helpful with additional related questions. I haven't thrown with the fingertip drilled ball before and am having a pretty good start learning how to. Overall, they did a great job with my first ball. It has more spin which is something I didn't know I wanted. I plan on returning for future services. read more

I just recently started to get into the bowling scene a year ago and I am hooked! When I first stepped into this shop I was greeted and ask if I needed any help. I was just browsing around and seeing what kind of spare balls they had in stock. DJ helped me out and told me what they had in my size. Then, he decided to bust out with a huge binder showing me all the options of spare balls they could order since they had a limited supply. I started to go off topic regarding spare balls and I asked him about ball suggestions that he would recommend for me concerning medium to light oil. Since my current ball (Storm IQ tour) would start hooking too early when the oil pattern starts breaking, I wanted to add a ball that would hook later. After explaining to him my situation, he asked me if I had my bowling gear with me because he wanted to see how I threw the ball and give me advice on what type of ball I would look for. So I got my gear and he watched me throw a few shots to see what he was working with. He showed me what drilling layout would work the best for my shot and gave me a little lesson on what RG and Differential meant and what I personally should look for. That experience in itself was priceless to me as a customer. They go above and beyond to make sure that I get the necessary equipment that fits my style of bowling. Last Friday, I drove all the way from San Bruno to San Jose to get my new Track 916 ball drilled and fitted by Lindsey. He was very patient and thorough in my fitting. Considering I was a new bowler, he didn't make the fitting too aggressive so I would have control issues with the new ball. The fitting was perfect, he gave simple tips on proper ball release from the thumb and fingers and I did pretty good on my first time out on the lanes. It's my first time buying a bowling ball. So I went in last week got my bag and shoes. I came back today, to pick my BRAND NEW ball and they told me 20 minutes. When I got my ball, it was definitely not the one I pick nor was it brand new. I went to the car and took a look again and confirmed that this is not the ball I picked. I went back it and told them. Try to tell me it was due to shipping and it's going to get scratches up anyways.... When I buy something new I expected to to be new! If I wanted a used ball I would of brought a used ball! It was not due to shipping because I legit picked a brand new ball but they try to give me a used one. smh yeah I'm new to it all but don't try to take advantage! They did give me a new one but try to blame it on the company "storm" but it was their doing! Just bad business. They knew what they did. Disappointed. I can't say that I have been totally happy with purchases made here. I bought a bag, ball and shoes for a Christmas gift for someone. Long story short, they failed to ask me if the shoes were for a left or right handed bowler. I didn't know there was a difference. The shoes I purchased were for right-handed and my gift was for a left-handed person. We took them back the day after Christmas for an exchange of the proper shoes. We were told they would get the proper shoes in a couple of days. We went a couple of days later to pick up the shoes because we were told Tony was going to go and pick them up from a supplier. The supplier failed to give him the order, but we weren't informed until we went to pick them up. It's now 14 days later and we still don't have the shoes. Off the Sheet hasn't called to give us an update or even to let us know the status of the shoes they were supposed to get in for us. I have made about 6 trips to this store for 3 items and still don't have them all yet. Edit: I just found out the black shoes that we bought, then returned, are now white shoes. read more

Wanted to upgrade from the first ball I've had since I was young. Ordered a storm ball from here and had it drilled by Tony. I brought in my old ball and explained to him what I didn't like about it. Came here to buy my first ever bowling ball. The house balls were too oily and beat up so I decided to invest in a ball. The owner has a lot of expertise beyond my comprehension and was honest and professional. He custom fitted the ball holes and offered a nice bundle offer that included shoes and a bowling bag. My friend and I both left his shop with satisfaction and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to buy a ball. Only downside I experienced was the lack of options and/or inventory, but that fortunately didn't get in the way from me getting at least close to what I wanted. I can now elevate my bowling skills with a ball made specially for my hand and don't ever have to settle for the worn out shoes and balls offered by my bowling alley any longer. They offered a custom engraving, adjustment service, and 1 free game at no additional cost. So although the cost was quite steep for most people, I felt that I got good value. read more

Given the excellent quality of their work, they are very busy (in the ~60 min or so that I was there, about half a dozen folks came in for service).
