Our entire family loves eating at Odeum. The atmosphere is simple but cozy and a little bit funky. We haven't had a dish we didn't love. One of my favorite nights there was ordering apps and drinks and sitting at the bar watching one of the fastest and youngest bartenders I've seen! read more

I have been coming here for a few years now I thought it was Morgan Hill's finest. I feel since the pandemic it's just not the same. Well the past 2 times it has not been the same. I feel that the food quality has gone down along with the service. The specials are not that special anymore they are always the same. We ordered two appetizers and both sold out, that's a first. We ordered the Wienerschnitzel it was horrible, dry, bland and the cold potato salad didn't complement the dish. The Ahi Tuna was also tasteless and the mash potatoes were salty! We were so disappointed with our meals. The crack bread was the only good thing. Also the servers are new and not trained well. They were so overwhelmed. Took forever to give our drinks, and ended up giving us the wrong ones. The back room I don't recommend it was so hot with no AC and with the kitchen next to the tables makes it even hotter(the blue curtain doesn't work). Sadly we will not be coming back, and will not recommend it no more Morgan Hill has no good fine dining. read more

My children embarrassingly licked the plates, it was THAT good! Service has always been great and the food is to die for. The restaurant is dim and cozy, but if the weather is nice, I would recommend dining outdoors. read more

One of the better restaurants in that area, which is lacking great restaurants for the most part. I had the pizza which had a nice crust and was wood fired. The rest of the family had fish - and they enjoyed their dishes, even if they were a little heavy with the sauces. Service was good as well although having to walk outside and then go back inside to go to the restroom was strange. Ambiance was okay but the place is small and a little loud. read more

We recently had a most enjoyable and satisfying meal at Odeum; it was a special occasion, a group of us were seated in the beautiful outside patio under the trees. The early fall weather was prefect, service was actually quite good (I was concerned due to many negative comments from the reviews). Chef Sal (owner) came out to greet us, since our friend/hostess is a regular here, he offered to put together a special tasting menu for us. It was our lucky day. We had many dishes, some were from regular menu and many were special of the day. Portions were very generous unlike the typical tasting menu where you'd receive very tiny portions and go home still hungry. For appetizers we shared the calamari, crack bread, quartet with toasted pita and a special thin crust pizza. Everything was yummy but not nearly as special as what came next. For the tasting menu, we each received the following: -Grilled octopus with white beans, the octopus was grilled to perfection, tasty, tender with the right level of chewiness, no wonder it's one of the signature dishes. -Scallop over homemade pasta, a large scallop wrapped in bacon over a bed of very rich, super delicious noodles. This was a special of the day, one of the best pasta dish we've had in a long time. -Sea bass over risotto cake served with Asian seasoning and bok choy. Again, an excellent dish except some of the thinner pieces of fish were on the saltier side and slightly over cooked. -Tomahawk steak; a huge steak grilled to medium rare served on top of a large platter of French fries and vegetables. It was an impressive sight and equally as tasty. -Butter cake for dessert, very good but we were all so full We had sauvignon blanc and cabernet sauvignon with our meals; noticed that the wine mark up here is quite reasonable. The dinner is definitely on the pricier side but well worth the $$$ considering the quality and generous portions especially with Chef Sal's special touch. Highly recommended. read more

Our friends came into town from AZ as a last minute adult trip. We saw this place on Yelp and IG and everything looked amazing especially the wood fired pizzas!! We had just spent the whole day being tourists with our friends in Monterey and ate great all day.... Once we got back to town we were hungry and that's when we found this place in our search to find the perfect place to end the night. We arrived with no reservations for 4 people on a busy Saturday night, about 7pm. They added us to the list and we ordered drinks, and sat in the hallway looking at all the cool and interesting history down the hallway of the old railway station. They ended up forgetting about us. Seems a lack of communication.... We didn't care and we asked to be sat outside because inside felt a bit stuffy and it was extremely warm, despite the cold night. We had a younger dude as our waiter and he was very lax.... When he spoke to us he was cussing and we were surprised.. it's supposed to be a nice restaurant and he's speaking to us like a bro.... Not very professional.... Service was lacking the whole night. The kid would hardly look at us, even while I attempted to raise my hand like a school girl... lol We sat forever before getting our orders in and had to get up and ask someone who was standing around to get our order and our friend went up to the bar to go order more drinks because we sat there empty for 30 min or more.... Every time we tried waving him down he would avoid eye contact and we were right by the door on patio, so the kid walked past us every single time he was heading in and out. I understand it was busy and he had a lot of people but acknowledging that and US, at that, would have been the way to approach that or even ask for help from a manager or hostess that was practicing her cheerleading moves lol... They apparently do not service pizza at dinner, which we were unaware of when we chose this place. We didn't see anything about that on IG or Yelp while salivating over the pictures. We did see the kitchen produce a pizza while we were waiting but apparently that was for a "very special guest" and that was not us.... They refused to make an exception. Although our friends were only in town for the next night longer and we wouldn't be back for lunch to try the pizza, especially after the service we had. Bummed to say the least!! I ended up having the best meal of all 4 of us.... I saw some orders for the chicken n waffles going out to others while we waited and it looked amazing. I've never had it before and thought I'd give it a try since the chef is a Michelin star chef & there must be a reason so many people ordered it that night. I also used to live in GA and it's popular down there, although I never tried & I couldn't tell you if southern chicken n waffles is better, or here. :) It did take a long time for food to come out... Had we not had good company we would have been more irritated but we got to catch up with our friends.... Having drinks flowing would have been even better as well, but we only had 2 drinks the whole time we sat and that was for 2.5 hours. Huge portions, I took most of mine home and even shared with the table so everyone could try it. I was impressed and I would recommend it to anyone going there. However I think maybe we caught them on a bad night, and next time we know to call ahead and make a reservation... BUT we really wanted to try the pizzas.... So if we do go it'll probably be a lunch time thing so we can try them. Otherwise I'm sure other things on the menu are good, we just didn't get the best experience while we were there. Will give it a try another time and see if it changes or if it's the same... then I'll adjust my rating up or down. Also- I loved the hummus and pita plate & we had their crack bread I think it was called. Omg! Delish! Give me all the carbs! Haha That's the reason for the 4 star rating, I loved the food. I would have rated lower because of the service, if the food wasn't so good. :) Looks like a cool spot to have a special occasion dinner as well. read more

I will start off with this: The food was excellent. From the appetizers to the entrees, very, very good. But this restaurant has some issues that need to be addressed by their management. 1. Dinner for 5 of us took 3 hours. Why? Because the service was horrific. We were asked by 4 different people if we wanted water and I said yes, 5 glasses. It took more than 20 minutes just to get water and then it took another 15 minutes before someone came over to take our drink order. 2. Loud music inside. The music was VERY loud. One server asked if we wanted them to turn it down and we said yes. They may have turned it down just a smidge. 3. The automatic 20% gratuity. Listen, I ALWAYS tip at least 20 percent. But I don't usually pay a 20% gratuity on a $70 bottle of wine that is way overpriced. That is ludicrous. It would be cheaper to bring a $20 bottle of wine and pay their $35 corkage fee. I'm giving this place 4 stars because of the food. For the atmosphere inside, and the rude waiter, and the overall horrible service, I'd give it 1 star. But I know......restaurants are struggling with staffing right now so I'll rate more on the food! read more

Very un-impressed. I never write reviews, only my second time, if I do it's because it sucked. Appetizer, cocktail and wine was great, but I went there for the food, 1 hour later we got white doughy pizza (WTF sucked) and the capellini pasta was good (just like your average joe restaurant, but pricey). We really want to like this place, somehow it always comes up short. How I paid $160+ tip is a mystery. Calling my credit card company. All dressed up but obviously nowhere to go, BS read more

Let me start off by saying that I was a big fan of Odeum for years. I have been coming for special events and taken family and friends there many times. I have only had one bad experience until my last visit which was beyond bad.... I made a reservation even though it was a weekday. When we arrived, the entire outdoor section was open and three of the tables inside were taken yet my wife and I were told a table was not available and we were seated at the small empty bar. We were placed right next to the servers station. After about 10 min we were reseated at the table next to the door. It was cold and right where everyone walks in and gathers. The menu is VERY different than what it used to have. It's boring and there is no variety. It leans heavily towards Italian but they no longer have the chicken pasta dish we liked or the artisan pizzas which were solid. We started with the calamari. It was dry and overcooked. For our mains we ordered Chicken Parm and the Skirt Steak. I asked for the steak to be done rare expecting medium rare. It was well done. I sent it back and was told that that's how it has to be cooked so I decided to just share my wife's chicken parm. It was solid and a very large portion. Here's the kicker... As I was finishing the waitress came over with a new steak. I was like, I am full, I thought you couldn't make it rare. The waitress told me they made it anyway. I asked for it to be packed up since it will probably be tossed. The picture is what they sent me home with. Kicker #2... when the bill came, they charged me for the steak! After a couple of awkward conversations, the charge was removed. I ended up eating the steak for lunch the next day. It was rare and the sauce was not very good. Kicker #3... I was sick for the whole weekend from that steak. I am very disappointed and don't see myself heading back there again. What a shame. read more

This was my first visit to this restaurant. Ambiance, and food are impeccable. Very courteous staff and prompt service. It speaks to their credit as they were packed and they made efforts to not let water glass or other drinks sit low or empty before coming to ask if we wanted another drink or a refill. Can't wait to come back to try dinner. I left with happy feelings in my heart and tummy :) read more

My goodness, had high hope for this nice restaurant. The atmosphere looks peaceful and nice. This place is busy. One tip, do not reserve on a Holiday, the staff is not prepared. Had reservations for Easter Sunday. Apparently to my surprise you can only order the brunch menu on Sundays however if you sit outside on the lower deck area you can order from both menus.. this really doesn't make any sense. Especially if you are vegetarian, don't go on Sundays. The wait staff seems friendly but the whole staff panics. My order took an hour to come out and the rest of the guest at the table took 45minutes. So I waited for my order of a meatball sandwich. The waiter apologized and said my order was taking longer because it was accidentally burnt. After an hour finally... my sandwich came back burnt!!! Check this picture out! I asked if I could get another top bun bread piece that was not burnt, the waitress said she thinks they are out of bread and will have to go check. She brought out sliced bread pieces and I asked if I can please have just "one top bun piece." She said I'm sorry to inform you but our kitchen is closing so if you want to order anything else, to do so now. I asked one more time about the top bun but she ignored me. When the bill came out she charged for the bread she brought me out to replace the burnt bun. Unbelievable, asked for the manager. He reversed the charge for the bread. I know one restaurant I won't ever recommend to anyone... A tip to the owner. Don't serve black burnt bread to anyone read more

Attended the Odeum New Year's Eve dinner for the 3rd serving and was highly disappointed in all aspects. Reservation for third seating was supposed to be at 9:45 but they were running about 30 minutes late and had no coordination of who would be seated when. The advertisement was $150 per person for a "5 course Chef's Tasting menu" but we were given menus with only 4 courses. The music was way too loud to enjoy conversation and the food, for being a chef's tasting, was mediocre at best. Service was sporadic and they brought out the next course before finishing the previous. We left at 11:30 to go home and enjoy New Year's instead of continuing to endure a very bad experience. Done with Odeum after this debacle. read more

We went there to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday and unfortunately had terrible service from beginning to end. They served us water with things floating in it. When we asked what it was and why the water had it, the server had no idea and just said it was new water that was just put in the pitcher. No offer to bring new water, new glasses or anything. We ended up ordering sparkling water since the water wasn't drinkable. We asked for ice several times before it was brought out, asked for chili oil and red pepper for the pizza. The chili took a long time to come out (we were almost done by that point) and they brought black pepper instead. We brought a birthday cheesecake that they brought to the back before we started dinner, however they did not refrigerate it so when they served it, it came out melted and also announced to the table that they were charging us $5 a plate for serving it. We asked for the birthday dessert as well that they would normally give, and they said they would bring it out and never did. The pizzas weren't hot when they came out - they were mildly warm. It was just a disappointing night in general. In the past, the food and service has been good, but this time it was far from it and I will not be going back. read more

My husband I enjoyed the most delicious meal here last Saturday night! We hadn't been back since before the pandemic, so we were hoping it was going to be just as delicious as we remembered. It didn't disappoint! We started with the tzatziki that was accompanied by the best pita bread I've ever had! We then ordered the Brussels sprouts salad... which was so amazing... we ordered a second one. The portion isn't huge, so I'd definitely recommend you order one per person. We shared the gnocchi and NY steak as our entrees and both were phenomenal! My husband ordered a few old fashion and I had a cosmo... even the drinks were great!! Service was also top notch! Everyone is so friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back for our next date night :). read more

First impressions: this restaurant smells great and is soooo popular. Obviously we made a good choice. I made a reservation a few days in advance and was glad I did... very busy upon our 6:30pm arrival. The restaurant has a nice Mediterranean vibe. The menu is quite extensive. We shared the lamb meatballs and I had the gnocchi bolognese. In hindsight, I should have ordered an entree that differed more from the tomato sauce of the meatballs, but oh well. The meatballs were nicely seasoned and pulsed. The sauce with feta was the true star of the dish. Salty, sweet and bright all at the same time. Would have also been amazing as a shrimp saganaki. My bolognese was good - could have used a little more depth/time but the gnocchi themselves were amazing! Creamy while still maintaining their texture. I could tell they were house-made because of their differing sizes. Truly really great. Service was fine - nothing to write home about. They automatically add a 20% tip to the bill so IMO, that doesn't leave a lot of incentive to go above and beyond. read more

Very disappointed in the service at Odeum for their new years eve event. Service was horrible, dinner was rushed because they were 30mins behind when we arrived for our reservation, the music was loud and an odd choice of rock music for such an elegant restaurant. I couldn't have a conversation all night cause I was yelling over music. The owner/chief seemed more concerned with his friends and family and not on the service and organization of the night. bread with butter and cheese IS NOT worthy of a course, especially when I'm paying $150 per person. The meal was 4 courses not 5. This is a special place for my family and this was such a let down. I'm annoyed my family spent $600 for horrible service and a rushed dinner. read more

And all other staff were also kind and I love how they helped each other out as a team. We brought our dog as the patio is dog friendly and the staff also brought her water and make sure she is comfortable. The entrance to the restaurant was a little difficult to find. All in all underwhelming and disappointing. Hard to understand how this is a Greek, Roman and Spanish menu. We were very excited to try a restaurant in Morgan Hill as we had only heard great things so we made a reservation for 630. I didn't realize Standard seating meant outdoors so the indoor, intimate seating I was hoping for ended up being outdoor patio which is fine because A. We bumped into a sweet friend and it was so good to see her and B. the patio is cute with great heat lamps. Music jumped from jazz to Sade to 90's alt and all at different volumes. Sometimes jarringly loud and other times pleasant. Felt very schizophrenic. What was strange is that for the price point of this menu you would have thought they would have been able to spring for more than Costco folding tables/chairs. Anyway, the drinks took forever. First the beer, which was the first thing my husband ordered. And then the cocktail he ordered which took 20+ minutes. They comped it but after one sip my husband could tell it was made in a rush and couldn't even take another sip. The baked Brie and beet salad were fine. My husband's pork chop was burnt on the outside and slightly undercooked on the inside. He said it was the best pork chop he had today (haha) The croquette was over salted. My eggplant parmigiana was definitely not worth $29. Cheese and sauce forward, I couldn't taste the eggplant and couldn't finish it. The server started out good, disappeared for most of the meal, second server checked on us, third server checked on us, original server suddenly reappeared, then another server dropped off the check in a hurry and we were never offered dessert. In total we had four different servers. Honestly strangest experience that I never expected and unfortunately my husband was so disappointed that he never wants to try Morgan Hill restaurants again. By the way the business description made this place sound like such an intimate, wonderful place where the chef greets each customer. Did not feel that way at all. The menu, decor, music, drinks are all over the place. I'm glad there are people who highly enjoy this place and wish it the best of luck! read more

Probably the worst service ever. Food was eh which has not been my experience in the past, we had three of the pizzas for the group that came out warm, among a couple other items. We were served water that was warm and white stuff floating around in it when he poured it (no lemon in the water that would explain the floaters), took several times asking for ice to finally get it, tried asking for red pepper and kept getting different versions of black pepper (they didn't bring the spicy oil, red pepper and Parmesan cheese with the pizzas), plates we asked to be taken away weren't, but the server kept asking if there were dirty plates to be taken away and never got the ones we needed gone, we brought a cheesecake to celebrate a birthday which was not kept refrigerated and they came out to let us know they would be charging $5 per plate when they bring it out (thanks for ruining the surprise) and didn't bring out the birthday dessert that was requested. Oh and the floating stuff in the water? Said didn't know what it was, water pitcher was just filled and took several minutes to get the server to understand we would not be drinking it and needed other glasses...felt like we were getting pranked the entire time. read more
