You don't always need a fancy name to make things work. For example, I found this truck perched outside Kelly Brewing Company, and they seem to be doing just fine too. Pupusa Lady seems to be a fairly new Morgan Hill food truck, with some sort of county-level COVID-19 compliance dated October of this year and no older social media presence than this very month of November. They seem to make the rounds at local beer-serving spots in the Downtown area of Morgan Hill, running out of a truck labeled Sajj Mediterranean but presenting their own simple menu of pupusas, Mediterranean tacos, and something called Piggie Fries which I may regret not getting. But I did try plenty of the other items, all of which clocked in at a surprisingly affordable $3 each. The Falafel taco came on a single corn tortilla with hummus and tahini and was solid aside from parts having an occasional too-crunchy bit of crust. I would've liked a spicy sauce; popular falafel presentations in the Bay Area often have one, and the Steak Shawarma taco came with a spicy cilantro chutney. Plentiful tender meat was also present along with several veggies on that corn tortilla. I actually kept the pupusas to reheat/share later in the evening. The Revuelta was as solid as any of these traditional Salvadoran treats which I've had, with seasoned pork, beans, and cheese filling a tasty corn masa dough. Pairing it with the cortido (lightly pickled slaw) and mild salsa was helpful for texture and layers of flavor. The Pepperoni & Cheese pupusa sounded like an interesting departure, but the pepperoni was muted by the corn and they forgot to include the advertised marinara sauce in my to-go box. Pupusa Lady shows a lot of promise already as an affordable and fairly enjoyable food option for local beer drinkers, especially with pandemic restrictions in effect. No need to seek them out if you're not in town, but you can feel comfortable with them if they're your food option outside your beer spot of the day.

My Sister and I have been wanting to try their papusas for the longest! Soo worth the chase! LoL We ordered the chicken, revoulta(pork &cheese), and bean ones. All were soo good! Hot and fresh.. also, we had to try the Shwarma Wrap. Very flavorful and good to the last bite! We caught the food truck at Guilimermo's Winery. Therefore, it was only right that we paired it with their wine slushies(Lemon Drop). Ahhh.. much needed!

I loved the jerk pork tacos! The pork was juicy, tender, and aromatic, and the mango-papaya salsa added a refreshing sweetness. I also tried the paella Oyo that my sister ordered which was sooo yummy and full of protein. The small size was more than enough! My mom ordered the oxtail stew which wasn't on their brunch/lunch menu (dinner only), but I really appreciate that they were accommodating to make that dish for her. I've never had oxtail and it was delicious--tender, perfectly sweet and savory, and paired well with the plantains. The other dishes that my family ordered were hits too (jerk pork shoulder and seafood paella). We also tried the ripe plantains pancake Oscar for a sweet treat. I love anything marshmallow, so the brûléed marshmallow cream that blanketed the pancakes was heavenly. It also came with a plantain on top and a few other fruits to balance out the sweetness. Overall, we left full and all around very satisfied. The staff showed us such warm hospitality and came around often to check on us, despite being an almost packed house. The decor was beautiful and the atmosphere had a fun lively energy. With indoor and outdoor seating options, anywhere you get seated is a nice spot. Can't wait to visit again to try their dinner menu items and drinks, and hopefully catch some live music!

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!

Excellent little Paraguayan snack bar!!…read more I saw this spot while scrolling thru Yelp's nearby function and curiosity of their yerba mate and empanadas brought me in. I was still feeling kind of sick but wanted something hot to drink so I ordered a mate latte with oat milk. I also had one of their beef empanadas to take away so I could eat it later. Mate latte was great and definitely would get this drink again. They also have a smoked mate drink and I would definitely come back to try this too! You have to like yerba mate to fully appreciate this drink. The mate latte is kind of a light version of what mate is like. Maybe start with this first to prepare you for traditional mate. If you get traditional mate, be prepared to have your mouth jolted and doing jumping jacks, its definitely stimulating and I love it! Later when I reached my destination, I ate the beef empanada with chimichurri sauce provided and it was delicious! After I polished it off, I had wished I brought a few more to take with me. But, at $9.50 a piece, they aren't cheap, so keep that in mind. They also have other Paraguayan/South American offerings here and I was so tempted to get a mini alfajor as it was eyeing me in the display case that said EAT ME (like Alice in Wonderland), but I did not give into this, but I so wish I did!! I will definitely come back here again and again when visiting Monterey! A true gem and next time, I have to check out their secret back garden too!

Outdoor seating in the back patio. The empanadas are sooo good. Best ones that I've had. So crispy and filled with vegetables and soy. The soy croquettes were so tender and creamy. We are vegetarian so that's what we got. got. I wanted to go for more seconds.
