First of all it was my Birthday . And my very good friends insisted on buying us dinner, was very dark and we had to us our phone flashlights to see the very limited menu . I should say very Expensive limited Menu . Appetizers were Disgusting and portions were very minimal for a table of four . The Fried calamari was on a dish 2" x 3" two rings of calamari and some garnish , I should have walked it back to the kitchen and ask the cook if was proud to send this out ,. Really bad ! I could go on but I think you get the idea . DON'T waste your money . DON'T go here. It still bothers me my friend had to pay the bill . Of $700.00 plus . The wine was $130.00 a bottle . Bourbon on rocks $25.00 I usually don't post bad Restaurant experiences , but this was awful . Stay away! read more

Food is amazing. The crack bread was a revelation. We also enjoyed the skirt steak and Louisiana warm bread. So so so good!

The food is over-salted, the prices are excessive, the portions are tiny and the place is simply overrated. Not worth the cost, the long wait times, and the pretentious host. Seriously. Take a pass on this place. read more

I'm so disappointed. Last night was our second visit to Odeum for a family birthday celebration. The first visit (a few months ago) was "meh." Last night was bad. We had extremely slow service....our entrees came out an hour after our appetizers, and then only after we sought out the manager. Overall, a pretty simple meal took almost 3 hours---rather tough with a 5-year old in the group. My only request of our server was to keep my water glass full. More than once, he walked by my empty glass with a water pitcher in his hand, looked at the glass, and kept walking. The place was barely half full, and they seemed to have a full staff, but we were ignored. When our food finally arrived, we were disappointed. My "medium " lamb chops were so overdone that they were hard to chew, my spinach tasted like it had been soaked in salt water, my husband's salmon was "almost ok," and the diner who ordered chicken and waffles said her waffle might as well have been a brick. The manager promised to comp one of our meals, then forgot and had to be reminded. There's a reason this was the only place open for last-minute reservations on Father's Day. We won't be back. read more

Went for Father's Day brunch. I ordered chicken and waffles and my food was served cold. We also ordered coffee and the milk that came with it was spoiled. Not only that the milk was spoiled the coffee was also cold. We told the waiter and he replaced the coffee order however the coffee is cold again. What a disappointment. I don't know what happened to their quality of food but this will definitely be our last time. read more

Ugh I hate to write negative reviews as the ambiance and service was great. This review is primarily about the salty overpriced food. This was our second trip to Odeum and neither were a good experience food wise. On our first visit, we had the chicken and waffles (excellent) and the eggplant parm - which was inedible just a piece of eggplant drowned in a deep pool of salty marinara. We decided to give it a 2nd try as we liked the outdoor seating area. The steak was burnt, the bread was burnt, the salmon crazy salty, the margarita was pizza also soggy/salty and drenched in oil. The only thing that was ok was of course the Chicken and Waffles, which was also oddly over salted but worked in this scenario for the sweet and salty mix. Got the bill and 20% was already added for the tip. OK I always give 20-30% to servers - I used to be a server. But to have to tip 20% for food that was expensive that everyone hated felt presumptuous. We got to-go boxes but decided that it was too nasty to want to eat again so threw them out before we got home lol. My advice is to enjoy the ambiance and presentation of the food, but keep your expectations low on the taste quality. Have your wallet ready to take a hit for a disappointing meal. read more

Huge portions of delicious food! The duck was perfectly cooked and so so good ... the citrus chunks were a little heavy handed though and I am not sure where it was coming from because it wasn't my favorite but it kept ending up in my mouth lol. Tasted like dried/preserved lemon peel. My coworker had the pork chop and it was to die for. Our server was fantastic and we closed the place down at the bar (sorry we kept you there late !!!) because we didn't want to leave! Definitely will go back to try more dishes next time we are in town. read more

Our friends have recommended this place so we finally decide to giving them a try, I call 3 hours in advance to book a reservation find out that they were petty busy I figure since it was Saturday it was normal, get a table for two for 8:30pm. We should up 10 minutes before and SURPRISE!! The place was petty pack and there was a little table waiting for us on the middle of the restaurant!! No way I was going to take that small table, so I ask the waitress for a bigger table and also less traffic area so we can eat peacefully..... She was able to accommodate us with a bigger table on a place by the wall but still this place is NOT peaceful full at all.... it was SO busy and people was VERY LOUD, I cannot concentrated on eat/enjoy my food at all. The place is nice and super blessed with a lot of customers but is super overwhelmed at the same time. Our food take forever to be prepared we get our appetizers (Octopus and Stuff mushrooms, very delicious!!) 40 minutes after being seated, we almost finished a bottle of Pinot before appetizers made to the table, I even have to order an additional glass of wine ($25 for Cabernet?? Super overpriced), When we get our dinner it was literally an hour and 30 minutes after being there and food wasn't as great..... Not the best experience when you want to relax and chill after a long day of work. Never been here and probably never planning on coming back on a Saturday night the place is too small for the amount of customers and service is too slow!! They definitely need to consider moving to a bigger place and/or hired more employees. Dessert was very delicious though. read more

First time visiting Morgan Hill. Dinner @Odeum definitely did not disappoint. Patio was beautiful with fire pit and comfy sofas. Lively spot, loads of friendly staff, many pretty paintings. Delightful service from Jerry with great recommendations and quick delivery of food. Artistic platings, large entrees. Food: Greek yogurt, scallops, filet mignon tartare, polipo/octopus, porkchop saltimbocca, venison, duck breast, and lamb chops. Such big portions, we could not even finish. read more

Spontaneity took over and I ventured out to Morgan Hill after a friend raved about her amazing time here. Came here for brunch on a Sunday. It took me a while to find the place, until I was told to go on a path that was hidden by shrubbery. First came a complimentary croissant with strawberry cream. This was incredibly good. The croissant was buttery, light, and airy and the strawberry cream was divine. Terrine (House made rabbit terrine, burrata cheese, bosc, pear relish, braised cabbage, 25 year old aged balsamic) I was surprised by how SMALL this plate was despite it being $15. However everything on the plate was stellar, from the rabbit to the to the burrata cheese to the cabbage sauce. My friend ordered the gyro (beef I think) was it was larger than a Chipotle burrito. It was so good too. If you want more food for your money, definitely order a gyro. I thought it was a good idea to eat outside since it was a lovely day. Please don't do that unless you like flies. I cannot wait to come back and try other items. read more

I'll keep it sweet and simple Quintet - excellent pita bread, variety of dips are top notch, a must get Polipo - super tender and flavorful, simple and clean Chicken and Waffles - while a surprising interpretation, I did not care for the truffle sauce as it overpowered the dish and didn't compliment the rest of the ingredients Solmos - solid green onion potato cake, salmon was cooked fine, texture was there and seasoned properly Loukomathes - hard pass, far too dense for a beignet, syrup on the outside was adequate but nothing special....6 pieces for $13 makes this dish not worth getting Drinks have clever names but something to note, the moment in thyme does not compliment the meal at all and best left as a dessert drink Service was friendly and efficient Gets packed so making reservation is key as they do stop taking walk in's Overall Thoughts Definitely would be back for the starters but not sure about the main entrees read more

No bueno. We only ate here once and never again. Went here with our family for our anniversary dinner, pre-COVID. The place was busy. We were seated in a crowded small back room. They took forever to bring water, menus or take our orders. This place was part of a scandal some years ago where they served tilapia as some other high priced fish and were caught committing fish fraud. We figured we'd try anyway BC it's supposed to be Michelin rated. Not impressed. Save your money. Go elsewhere. If you want to sit and visit with your friends for hours and are in no hurry, you may like it. But I felt the service just plain sucked and the food was not anything memorable. I do not like to wait eons to catch my servers eye to remind him to refill my water! Much better fare at Ladera or Betto's. read more

Been there twice now & I have to admit, I'm just not all that taken by this place. I have had their Lamb & their Pork and neither hit that "WOW" button with me. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, although my wife's Filet was raw & had to be sent back, it just didn't hit that Wow mark to make it unforgettable. I had their Bread Pudding for desert & it was very good (just, not as good as the Crow's Nest in Santa Cruz) The service was passable, but not memorable & the restaurant just seemed cold..decor, lighting, nothing gave you that warm comfy feeling. The best part of this restaurant & it's first impression is the parking...the parking is very convenient. For the money spent, it could & should have been a couple notches better. read more

Let me start by saying dinner was amazing! Coming from the hospitality industry, I loved seeing the chef working hard in street clothes along with his cooks. We started with the tzatziki (to die for) and ahi poke (yum and perfect for splitting), moved onto the lamb and beautifully played filet and gnocchi. Delicious! After that (and 3 bottles of wine), we were happy and loving life. While enjoying our Nutella Mousse and lemon tart desserts and seeing the chef saying goodbye to guests, I couldnt wait for him to come to our table. To my disappointment, he never left the side of his hostess girlfriend, despite the fact that she never had her cell phone away from her ear. Again, delicious food, but our experience was hindered by actions of the chef. Can't wait to visit again and hopefully the chef pays more attention to his guests and stops trying to impress his young girlfriend. Note to chef and staff: whenever you think people aren't looking, work harder. It'll make everyone appreciate you beyond the food. read more

I was really disappointed in this restaurant. I had been looking forward to trying it however our lamb was gamey and our steak had a lot of fat. The waiter recommended two wines both of subpar. If I could give negative stars, I would. We came for dinner on a Friday, 5 PM with a reservation. Seated. After 15 minutes we were asked to move to another table because "friends of the owner has there favorite table", and it was the one we we're seated at. First time that had ever happened. Very unprofessional. Our drink order was screwed up. We waited for our entree for 45 minutes. So if you aren't personal friends with the owner you'll receive poor service and treated as garbage. We ended up leaving and going to Ladera Grill. read more

Overall, the service was good. Chris was our server and the young hostess was friendly when we walked in. The food with a nice price tag was pretty good. We started with the tri color salad - delicious and had the filet mignon- really good and it was big enough to share for two. The Nutella dessert was a fail though - too sweet and just not that good. Wish I ordered something else. Overall, would go back to Odeum. The filet mignon was tres magnifique! read more

This place pretends to be and upscale restaurant, far from it. I just had dinner there tonight and ordered a steak the waiter said was a special. The steak was full of fat and grizzle obviously prepared by a person who lacked the ability to properly cook a steak. I spent $365.44 for a $150 meal. The steak was mediocre, it came with fries that were soaked grease. The other diner with me had the duck special which was dry and over cooked. The wine a basic Mason Sauvignon Blanc, it was decent. Obviously ever returning to a place that charges almost $400 for at the most $200 meals is not and option when there are other restaurants in walking distance from the Odeum that do much better for a more realistic price. After reflecting on my review I realized did not say how terribly out of ratio the low quality of the food compared to price was not to mention the service issues I failed to mention. read more

I've been meeting a good friend of mine here for years. Last night was the last time we'll be choosing this restaurant. The 2 stars are for our server and the filet mignon-which was cooked to temp. To start, we were seated at the first table right in front of the door, as people were coming in, they were standing right next to us and every time the door opened we got a rush of cold air, we asked to move and they graciously moved us. The Quintet appetizer was very good, and that's where it stopped. The Cracked Bread was cold, like out of the refrigerator cold, the butter on it wasn't melted, our server refired it and we got a fresh one that was hot this time and it was good. The Cavatelli pasta was so salty we couldn't eat it, and the server took it off of the bill. The Ahi entree was also so salty we couldn't eat it. The server took it off the bill as well. We were so disappointed as this restaurant holds sentimental value for us. read more

Cool environment will entice you to dine here. Inside is very nice (I will say casual upscale dining), with tables and booths, and a separate dining area off to the back, and a full bar. We came on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy the tree canopied outdoor dining area. Really nice weather for it. The servers were all really great and attentive. Outdoors is tree covered, clay soil dirt floor, with linen tablecloths and linen napkins. Classy outdoor dining...With the lights stung across the trees, it is probably really nice in the evenings. My only 'complaint' (if you want to call it that) is that the outdoor tables are really difficult to sit at, as they are cute little round folding tables. Problem is that you can't get your feet comfortably beneath the table without kicking or knocking the table due to the scissor legs. And, since you are on a dirt floor, you want to keep you feet flat on the ground. My own personal problem I'm sure.... I had the Odeum Gyro (Sonoma lamb, beef, pork, tzatziki, mint, beefsteak tomato, garlic herb fries, wild arugula) which was rolled up like a burrito. Very tasty indeed....Great flavors and a lot of gyro for lunch. Partner enjoyed the Lamb Burger with red onion, wild arugula, Kalamata olives, feta, tzatziki, on a grilled ciabatta. It was quite messy, but he really liked the flavors. The overall experience was nice and relaxing with unhurried good dining. I definitely want to bring friends here to enjoy Odeum. read more

Petrale Sole was wonderful, but nothing here is complimentary. No free bread on table, but four olives. No bread, but pita bread sticks only IF you buy spreads priced $6-$14. However, the ricotta spread was tasty on the pita. No free pita refills though. Really!? After expensive fish & bottle of wine an endless pita is a problem? We skipped dessert & coffee in protest. UPDATE 2/15/17 LA Times & Mercury News report this restaurant has for YEARS been swapping cheap Tilapia for sole. Now they have to pay a 6 figure penalty for this RIPOFF. So, they were stingy w the bread while ripping us off. I guess they had to pay for the upscale decor somehow:( read more

We came here on a Sunday late morning to meet up with a friend and fell in love! Tucked into a cute, emerging downtown area of Morgan hill, Odeum offers adorable outdoor seating near trees or indoors with a lovely ambiance. This trip we sat inside but I am already itching to return and sit on their lovely patio with my dogs and a few mimosas. Their menu is so fun! You can either get a breakfast gyro from their Mediterranean inspired side or opt for brunch favorites such as chicken and waffles or a Benedict. I opted for the chicken and waffles and was very much into this elevated plate; it was sweet but also savory with umami flavors due to the complex syrup they provided. Often times I do not like super sweet chicken and waffles so this was a great discovery! They offer mimosas of different varieties. The service was amazing as well. Each face was friendly. The building itself is pretty neat; there is entire hallway dedicated to Guatemala and the típico fabrics. This just adds to the flair of this restaurant. Highly recommend coming in for brunch! read more

Odeum was my favorite MH restaurant for the past 5 years, but no longer. Went there last night and found a much more limited menu. Menus and plating do not resemble what was done in the past or what is shown on the website. Polipo was served completely different, pizza had very little cheese, lamb chops were thin and fried crisp, etc. Paid over $300 for 3 meals with 20% tip and no liquor or wine. Would have gladly paid this for the quality food we were served in the past. So disappointed! read more

We have had the pleasure of dining at Odeum multiple times. From our first visit to our most recent we continue to be absolutely amazed by the cuisine and service at Odeum. You cannot find a more attentive and friendly staff or better-tasting food. Starting with the appetizers; we have all enjoyed calamari and bruschetta before, but I guarantee you Sal and his team have raised the bar on even these appetizers to a new level. It simply gets better from there, not one item on their menu has not been exciting to our collective taste buds. And again I repeat, the food it's preparation and presentation is fantastic but the staff from top to bottom is even better. By far our favorite restaurant. Whether for our personal dining or business events, which we have moved to Odeum, we have never been disappointed and our guests have become disciples. Wow! Delicious! Chicken and Waffles FTW! Who would've thought you would find one of the best chicken and waffles at a Mediterranean restaurant!!! My expectations were low coming in, but we really enjoyed our meals and service here during lunch on Saturday. We arrived around 11am, and there was no wait. We were seated right away. A bit pricey IMHO, but a great treat once in a while. Can't wait to come back! Ordered: 1) Appetizer: UINTET: A tasting of all five artisanal spreads with pita bread: 4/5 I really enjoyed the five spreads! 2) ODEUM GYRO: Grilled all-natural free-range chicken, avocado, Applewood- smoked bacon, garlic herb fries, grilled eggplant: 4/5 pretty tasty! The gyro was so moist! 3) CHICKEN & WAFFLES: Crispy all natural chicken, grilled asparagus, feta, Kalamata olive waffles, black truffle pan sauce, Vermont maple syrup 5/5 by far one of the BEST chicken and waffles we have had in a long time! read more

Looks can be deceiving. Not much to look at from the outside but it has wonderful outdoor seating and small but comfortable seating inside. The music was quite loud and had to ask to have it turned down so as to be able to carry on a conversation. Ordered cocktails and started with the Quintet Sampler of their 5 spreads accompanied with incredibly tasty wood fired pita. We ordered the Boneless Trout and the Skirt Steak. The presentations was elegant but there were a few bones in the trout. Skirt Steak was wonderfully seasoned. Finished with a glass of Port and the Luisiana Butter Cake. Mouthwatering!!! There is an extensive wine list but very pricey as is their corkage fee at $35. For us a one time visit as it is in our opinion quite over priced. read more

I am not someone who reviews every place I go to. Usually if it is really bad or really good, I review it. I have been meaning to go to the Odeum for some time now but have not gone for whatever reason until last night. My wife ordered the filet mignon so I tried the lamb chops. Before dinner, we ordered a "quartet" sampler which included hummus and three other delicious dips served with fresh made bread sticks browned and seasoned to perfection. We did not have reservations because we planned on going elsewhere but decided late to stay in town. I was really happy we stayed. We had to sit at the bar because it was so busy Friday night. It was a pleasure to watch the staff in the kitchen work some magic that would make chef Ramsey giddy. Every meal was checked and approved by the Michelin rated chef before it went out. We saw some excellent looking meals get sent back. Every plate was like a work of art. The wait staff was fantastic and friendly, checking on us numerous times throughout the night and making great food suggestions. When our meals arrived, both meals were breathtaking in appearance and the taste was out of this world. I went with lamb because I knew my wife would kick down some mignon....and she did! Although both were perfect, I preferred the lamb and she preferred the mignon....perfect. I will just say that although the price was a bit steep, the food's taste and artistic beauty was well worth it. Kudos Odeum, for bringing a Michelin rated chef to a restaurant in Morgan Hill! Came here on Mother's Day and expected the restaurant to be busy and expected there to be a slight wait. We waited over an HOUR AND A HALF to receive our food, and when it finally came to the table, it was terrible. My mother's poached egg over the chicken and waffle was hard boiled, my lamb chops were so raw they were purple, cold and slimy. I had asked for dressing on the side and it was overly dressed. The server told me he even sent one salad back because it was dressed, but I guess they made the same mistake. Edges of the Lettuce in my salad were all brown and looked like in came from a fast food joint. Our server Jerry was so sweet, apologetic and really helpless to the fact that this terrible food was coming out of the kitchen. Our neighbors were receiving half of their order. The Elderly mother in a wheelchair was the last to get her food. I've never experienced such a disaster as that that was happening at this place. Two entrees, three drinks and 20% tip included came to $130 for a disastrous meal. Never once saw a manger helping run food or talking to guests or helping in anyway. I tipped the waiter an extra twenty for doing his best. I will never be back (my first and ONLY time) and I will be sure to tell everyone I know to avoid this overpriced, place. Another suggestion: if you are going to charge 30-40 a plate, put a tablecloth instead of paper placemats and butcher paper. Just terrible. Get a new manager and cook!! read more

This was our first time at Odeum. And it's our first date after the lockdown.. The place was quaint.. Just had a few bad luck! At first we got lost at the building and got into some offices and we wondered why people were staring at us! Then we peaked at the side and found the place! Coming from the left you wouldn't see the sign because of the bushes.. Anyway, I called in, an hour before to reserve a spot for me and my husband but when we arrived they couldn't find us on the list. So we waited to be seated. We were seated around 8:30 pm. Then it got so windy and cold.. They turned in the patio heater and after 5 or 6 minutes later the heater died. The Propane was out! Then a few minutes later the train passed by and it was so noisy! Then it got dark. The people beside us left and so are the ones behind us.. So we are on the corner near the train tracks about 20 ft. with no lights, cold and no heater.. I got tired of being cold so I approached our server and asked to be moved to a different seat with heat.. Our server was so nice and did everything to meet our needs. He had new table sanitized and it was beside the heater! Praise the Lord!!! My husband had Baked Paccheri and I had a Skirt steak.. Our food came out around 9:20. It's quite the wait but we were just so excited to finally eat! While eating, I noticed my husband was quiet and his face wasn't happy. He wasn't angry or upset but disappointed with his dish. The noodles was raw. I told him maybe coz' its been awhile and the cooks are still getting acquainted in the kitchen. I encouraged him to tell them because they might serve it to another customer and they may not be as understanding.. So we told them about it and they were apologetic.. when my husband got done eating his food (excluding the pasta) I started noticing that my steak was oozing blood. I was shy to call their attention again coz' I don't want to come out as a complainer! So I told them about it when my husband asked for the bill.. But instead of addressing it I felt like the other server ignored it. I feel like they're thinking that we will ask them to remove it from the bill but that is not our intent.. We actually wanted to pay the whole amount even with all the mistakes. All we want is for them to know that they need to be more careful next time.. I'm a Chef by trade. And I've been cooking for 20 years and when I make a mistake I address it right away. It's hard to gain trust. If you want your customers to keep coming back, you need to listen to your customers and their concerns. All in all the food was good. The problem we had was just minor that can be addressed.. read more

I am absolutely addicted to their Beef Tartare! Its too good! I have dined here many time and tried many dishes and my favorites are the Beef tartare and grilled ostopus. Gyros are very good too, even though I dont like that they put the fries inside the gyro and not just on the side. The greens ( side salad ) were not too fresh, that is the only negative I ahve ever expericed there. Odeum was a fantastic find. As a resident of Morgan Hill, i'm disappointed with the options available in downtown. I really hope we can step it up like Saratoga and Los Gatos at some point. But places like Odeum give me some hope. We initially planed on going to Dio Deka in Los Gaots but decided to stay local and found this local Mediterranean restaurant. Odeum is situated in this old renovated building and has a sort of an industrial charm from the outside. The energy inside is electric and it's lively from the time you walk in. I was impressed with the service from the moment we walked in. For the food, we decided to try a bunch of small plates an share. The lamb meatballs were the overall favorite followed by bacon wrapped scallops. We also ordered the stuffed clams and the octopus and both were decent. The pita bread they serve here is freshly made per order and it was a decent appetizer. We got the feta cheese spread and it was a bit too salty. All an all its a nice find and i'm looking forward to going back. Only issue was their busser, who was in a hurry to clear the plates off the table and decided to pick up our dessert plates while we were still working on it. He looked nervous and young so maybe he was new but don't take my dessert away until if given you the permission to take it away! Our server Chris though was great and did a great job with his recommendations. read more

We were on our way back from Yosemite and stopped by this place for Sunday brunch. Service was a little slow but food was good. We got chicken souvlaki and crab cake benedict. I judge a brunch place by how well they make crab cake benedict. Crab cakes were crispy outside and tender in the center with handful of crab meat inside, so I would say pretty good. Eggs were overcooked and yolk was slighlt solidy than a good benedict should have. My friend's order of chicken souvlaki was good too. 3* read more

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and had a top notch experience. The server (James) was excellent and involved in our experience "just enough". He made great recommendations and the pace of service was perfect in our opinion. We started with the roasted cauliflower and baked brie appetizers and they were super yummy...we were blown away with both of them. The brussel sprout salad was quite good as well, but suffered from the 2 stunning appetizers that preceded it! Our mains consisted of Chilean Sea Bass (very solid, but perhaps a bit heavier than needed on the yummy sauce) and Pork Chop (perfectly cooked and great balance of flavors). The cocktails were excellent and as good as any we have had anywhere else in the valley. I would HIGHLY recommend this spot...a hidden gem in cute Morgan Hill.
