I've always found a close parking spot on Taylor. Oh, I also bought their bean so that I could make my own flat white at home. The bean is really good, I don't have a commercial machine, I only have a consumer version, but it's still really, really delicious. I forget which bean they use, but if you ask the person at the counter, they will tell you because that is how I found out. I highly recommend Rising Star. I've been to two locations and they are both stellar. (oops did I really just say star and stellar? That was an accident, but I'm not changing it.)

I will not give it less than 3 stars because the interior decor is lovely, there's ample space to sit inside, and the baristas were efficient. There are also a lot of local small businesses selling their wares in here as well like Jeff's Candy, Cleveland Vegan, Stem Soap Co, etc. So, I love coffee and I am also not picky. I even like gas station coffee more than I should! But the prices here are too high and the beans weren't good enough to justify the cost. I got a cold brew ($5.75). Normally, I add almond milk and sugar free syrup to my cold brews. But I balked at the $1.00 almond milk cost and there are absolutely NO sugar free syrups of any kind offered here! None! So I added a packet of splenda and some of the free oat milk to make it tolerable. Not bad after that but not great. My boyfriend had better luck with his iced Chai ($5.25). He did pay to add almond milk and the spice in the drink was nice and strong. But the most egregious error here was the awful blueberry vegan scone we bought ($4). It was a hockey puck of weirdness. The berries in the scone were the best part of the scone. Too bad there were only like 5 berries total. The batter just wasn't good and it was bright yellow from the Earth Balance butter. It was crazy busy when we visited so obviously, this is the preferred coffee shop for many of the locals here. But I think this won't end up on my list of coffee shops to come back to. Life is too short to drink mediocre coffee!

I tried both the Promised Land Latte (cinnamon and honey) and the seasonal special Cowboy Cold Brew (cold brew with milk and sarsaparilla syrup). The Promised Land Latte was good, not too sweet, a little thin on the mouthfeel but overall good flavor. The Cowboy Cold Brew was such a treat: a combination I have never tried, but it worked surprisingly well. It was like a root beer and a cold brew were mixed together for a refreshing drink with very familiar yet unique flavor. It was also such a treat when I turned the cup around and saw the "yeehaw" written on it :-) I also tried the everything bagel with honey brie walnut cream cheese, and whoever is supplying Cleveland with these specialty cream cheeses knows what they're doing! I enjoyed the honey brie walnut cream cheese so much that I made a third trip to this location, just to get a side of it to put it on extra pita I had laying around. What also makes this location special is the location! I enjoyed my latte inside the Arcade, and the beautiful architecture and interior design were so incredible. It was a wonderful break in the day. Great, efficient service, delicious drinks, good vibes all around!

I typically go to the Rising Star in the Colonial Arcade, proximity to work and all, but the weekends lead to Ohio City where the sunlight poors in, the baristas are busy taking orders, making spectacular concoctions and working the ever growing line. I'm partial to a chai, whole milk extra hot with cardamom to punch it up, it's perfect every time. I love that the green and go fridge is always stocked and that they have local bagels and Jeff's Candy! Parking is a premium so be ready to walk the neighborhood on a busy weekend.

Upon walking in you are greeted by friendly, enthusiastic staff who are knowledgeable and efficient. They have a variety of drinks, ranging from drip coffee, pour overs, espresso, lattes, teas, and also have non-dairy alternatives (almond and oat). Normally, I get their chocolate latte with oat milk; however, I opted for the seasonal classic - pumpkin spice latte! After approximately five minutes, the drink was ready. I have to say, this was by the best pumpkin latte I ever had. I asked the barista if they used real pumpkin puree in it, and she stated that he did. In fact, the pumpkin spice concentrate they used was made in house. Of the many coffee shops spanning the northeast Ohio business landscape, Heartwood Roasters has proven to be my personal favorite.

There's even a gazebo in the middle of downtown to seal the deal. This coffee shop is on the trendy side, with seasonal beverages, plants on display, and quite a selection of baked goods. We stopped by for a warm drink before getting some outdoor time at a nearby park. I ordered the chai latte and a giant chocolate chip cookie to share with my toddler cousin. Big fan of the chai latte, which can be hard to nail down. This drink had a great balance of flavors between the spice, vanilla, and cream. I'd easily return to explore more of their menu.
