I'm leaning 4 outta 5 stars just because of the location and the element that goes in there. If I knew their names I would give shout outs but this is the best I can do. The really short Native American phlebotomist really cute she's super sweet and very nice, the management team are very nice as well, the Puerto Rican or Dominican phlebotomist that's very light skinned with the dark hair she's nice and sweet as well she always remembers I need something to squeeze before pumping, the black male I think he might e Puerto Rican as well always wearing nice shoes he's very nice also. Those are my top favorites, when doing vitals I gotta give a shot out to a few and unfortunately don't know their names which I need to start doing. The big guy he's super friendly and come to find out we have the same birthday and he calls me up by name, there's the older woman who is super duper sweet and once again I'm sorry I forgot her name but I love when I'm at her booth. Just an all out friendly facility, I use to donate at CSL Plasma and they took away platinum donors getting express passes so and their staff are always either mad or tired. I had a nightmare experience at this place. The equipment is questionable and the female techs absolutely butchered me. My first visit to Octapharma in Mesa wasn't bad. The sign up and initial checkup procedure was pretty smooth, and I had a male phlebotomist who was great. The clientele was a bit sketchy, but I was in and out of the donation chair, feeling good and on my way in 35 minutes. My second visit was a different story. It was busier... and I was assigned to a kind of big girl with a sticker on her face shield that said something like "I hate my life, but at least I'm caffeinated". Very professional. I offered her my right arm that has a huge vein and said "you really can't miss that one hunh?" She replied "Oh you'd be surprised", which didn't exactly instill me with confidence about her abilities. She stuck in the needle and walked away and it was just me and the machine. I looked around. There was a short blonde girl with what looked like glitter in her hair that seemed to be enjoying her day, singing and bopping around despite working in this bizarre environment. My donation didn't seem to be going as smoothly or quickly as the first time. The numbers were ticking up slower than before. Then my machine beeped loudly.. "uh oh" I thought. Then another beep. I looked around and glitter girl was glaring at me and making the pump your fist signal. She didn't seem friendly or happy anymore. I raised my eyebrows and pumped. Then things seemed to take a significant turn for the worse. A different more insistent beep began and a girl with the name tag "Lead Phleb" came over and said "we're going to try your other arm". Ok. But then after removing the needle she said... "Oh crap your blood pressure cuff wasn't velcroed tight". So chunky caffeinated shield girl did in fact blow it. So Lead Phleb hooked up my left arm and things seemed ok. I slowly but surely made it to 93% of my donation goal, but then the machine started beeping again. Something wasn't right. At this point I should have walked out. Especially once Lead Phleb informed me that she was going to search for a mysterious, but not visible second vein in my left arm. She felt around with a Qtip and tried to stick me a little.. no luck. She went to look for the manager lady, but she had gone on her lunch break. At this point the procedure basically turned into an assault as glitter girl came over to "help" and jabbed the razor sharp needle deep into my arm twice, shrugged and walked away. I managed to not scream, but was in shock at what had just happened. Lead phleb looked as horrified as me and said "Uh yeah we're going to go ahead and abort.. you'll still get paid." Yeah... no sh*t!! Then she asked me how I'm feeling. I didn't feel well. I was very light headed and cold and sweating all at once. Lead Phleb asks me if I've ever had a "blood loss" before... because apparently not all of my blood was returned to my body before she disconnected the machine. What? In addition she explains that I'm probably going to have "some bruising" and that she'll give me a flyer on how to care for it. I'm pretty angry at this point. Glitter girl has disappeared. I later read online that other people have complained about her doing things like this. She is apparently some kind of psychopath maybe?! I got the hell out of there and did my best to recuperate in my car... drinking water and trying to feel well enough to drive. Within a half hour of returning home my left arm started to swell and turn red. My arm felt all sliced up inside and blood was pooling under the skin. I considered a trip to the emergency room, but I'm currently uninsured and decide to tough it out. I began icing and elevating it. By the next day my arm was black and blue, swollen and quite painful. On the day after that, my arm was even worse and looked like the pictures above. Holding my phone to type was agony. I was taking pain medication and mostly just lying in bed trying to get better for several days. Feeling normal and pain free took three weeks. Any exercise made me lightheaded. I had to take iron pills to try to get my hemoglobin back up. I have vowed to never let a needle near my arm again. All in all... a nightmare experience. I barely made any money and I ended up enduring enough pain and suffering that I considered whether I should contact a lawyer or maybe even press charges for assault against glitter girl. Octapharma is a multi billion dollar a year company. You'd think that they could afford to hire and train a semi professional staff and have a supervisor around at all times, but that is clearly not the case... at least not at this location. Donating plasma. Most times you're waiting at least a half hour in line, sometimes longer. Not sure how it is during the day but after 4 they only have 3 people checking people in. Then at 4:30 it seems to go down to 2, at times there's only been 1, makes for a very long wait. Once you get checked in you go over to the waiting area to be called. One time there were 3 people called before me that had come after me. When I said something they claimed the time on their ticket was before mine. Not sure how that could be because they hadn't even been checked in yet and I had already been sitting in the waiting area. The website says expect to be there 2 hours for first time but it's really about 4, it's no less than 2 hours for repeat clients. Everyone has been really nice so far. read more

After having gone to BioLife for almost a year this place is a breath of fresh air. Everyone is so nice!!!!! They are also quick. Gone are the days of one donation taking 5 hours at Biolife. Went here to donate but the lady who was supposed to be an expert at sticking needles into people messed up. So she took the needle out blood went everywhere, then she tried to stick it in my other arm but I didn't allow them. I said I'll just come back another day, still got paid just basically got stuck and sent home. read more

This is the absolute best plasma center. I have been donating plasma for over 20 years, in that time i have been to different centers and locations all over the country. This octapharma location is the absolute best! They are CLEAN!! They are extremely kind and courteous. They try to be fast and efficient as possible and above all they are SAFE. I read some of these other reviews and can say they have to be lies. I have been going to this location well over a year and can really attest to my above comments are true. Everybody is so nice and friendly. I haven't had any issues with them like I did at CSL they make you feel welcome. I don't know why there are so many people complaining saying that I had issues with Octa plasma. Why are people just like blaming them not everybody's perfect. If you have nothing nice to say then either don't write a review or don't say anything at all easy is that. Stop complaining about people doing their job it's not your job. Last night I was disrespected by Paige for no legitimate reason at all. I showed up inside of the plasma place 3 to 4 minutes before closing. As I walked up I noticed there was someone at 1 of the kiosk and I decided to go to the restroom to blow my nose and start the questions through the app. When I walked up to the area to do my vitals I put my bag on the ledge near the kiosk as I was about to put my keys away I figured i should make sure i locked my car doors. I went to the front door and pressed my lock button on my key fob and then I came back up to the kiosk area. All the sudden Paige told me that I needed to leave and she told qme that I wasn't there by 7 o'clock and I assured her I was and I told her she could check the cameras. She told me that I was not and that someone had let me in when they went outside at which point I again told her that was not true and I wouldn't lie about that. At that point she kept arguing with me as if she was correct and then went and got 2 other people and basically told me that if I didn't leave that they would call the police. I said for what I was here before 7 o'clock you can check the cameras. One of the other employees told me to just leave and come back tomorrow and they could check the cameras tomorrow and I said well what good does that do me for tonight. I was accused of lying and disrespected. Is that what employees can do? Decide what the truth is without any evidence and then just kick them out? I avoided other plans to come donate. I will reach out to management and see what they are gonna do because I shouldn't be treated like that . read more

First off I want to tell everybody that this place is great all the people at the location give you a feeling of being at home. The process of donating is smooth and easy every piece of equipment and chair is clean and well taken care of. I've been going to this Octapharma for about six months now every time I go they always know my name and ask me how I'm doing today if anything is going on I went through a lot of things this year my wife went through cancer and survived and every time I've gone everyone has asked my wife was and how I'm doing today every visit two times a week. During that time of my wife having cancer there were times I didn't wanna go but I went because I know there would be good people there to talk to you so please take the time out of your day and go spend some time with my friends and Octapharma read more

The technicians are great people and they do a good job, but the pay scale is terrible, if you miss a day they knock you back, so it takes even longer to actually receive a good payout. The wait time is mostly always super long. Overall I would not recommend this location. Most other places pay more for new donors and have a higher and more accommodating pay scale read more

I was a donor at octopharma for many months. Never had a n issue. Until one day the nurse put the cuff on my arm sooo loose I could slide my other hand inside. I raised my hand for assistance, asked the nurse was it supposed to be so loose and she said it won't matter. She seemed to be having a bad day so I just brushed it off. However, as a result, it took much longer than usual for my donation process. When I went to the gas station to purchase a soda off my donor debit card, it said insufficient funds. So I go back to octopharma, and the same nurse very rudely suggested I be patient, your machine had a malfunction, and the money will be on there. An hour later the money was loaded on the card. This was a Wednesday or Thursday. So I go back again on Saturday. No issues whatsoever. Then my next donor day I was told I couldn't donate again until I speak with management. The manager informed me that the nurse filed a complaint against me, not that I was being disrespectful, physically or verbally, but that she felt like I looked at her strangely. As a result, I wasn't able to donate there. I thought we (staff and donors) were doing this to save lives. This is really disturbing, knowing that the staff there can blatantly rob a patient of a chance to receive life saving plasma because she chose to bring her problems to work, and management backs this behavior. Couldn't she the manager took time to look at surveillance cameras to see I never created a problem at all? Just reminds me of how many cruel hearted people who holds Important positions in this world. I pray for all future patients and donors who choose octopharma in the future. If I could give zero stars I would. I've been donating here a few months and it's absolutely the worst place you could go. During my last donation on 11/10 I was around 90% when I received a high pressure return. Tawny,the phlebotomist who stuck me came over to help and in doing so fished with needle in my arm instead of re-sticking me. This caused major trauma to my arm forcing me to go to ER after not being able to use my arm for almost 24hrs. Secondly, after returning to speak with Shane the center director he was unavailable so I spoke with Leticia behind the counter. She was rude and made this whole thing seem like it was my fault when asking me questions about what happened to my arm. I've emailed Shane and received no response. Stay away from this place the people here are only coming for the paycheck they do not care about your safety and well being. I absolutely will not be returning there are other options out there and I plan to take full advantage of them. read more

I continue to go here to the Mesa location. As with any plasma locations there will always be a few bad apples. I usually choose Abbi as my technician and she gets mines 100% of the time. She's one if not the best technician there. This place is the absolute best place to donate compared to the other plasma donation centers. Friendly staff and a very clean environment. Also one of the nicest facilities to go to. The bonuses are also a great deal and waiting times are good. read more
