Renting "breakers" We were told to expect a 5pm check in due to "enhanced cleaning". Well that's…read morehysterical that they consider this enhanced cleaning. Have called multiple times about the crappy cleaning job in the rental and they've done nothing. Dead bugs, human hair, rings from glasses on Unwiped granite. Absolutely disgusting and I had to clean it. There were also dozens of flies in the house, flying around in the kitchen and bedrooms. Also our door code was wrong. We had to call and get bounced around "after hours" (it was 5:45) to get in the house. They have no information about the advertised pool that's "a few streets away" but actually a mile away. No hours or opening times. I called about this and the woman gave me the address to the pool. Unhelpful. And the photos on the website are photoshopped. They make the queen bed look like a king so they can make that bedrooms larger bath look like the master. The actual master bathroom is tiny. Huge rips in the screen doors so we can't have the patio door open.

We rented a house (Sky Box) through Outer Beaches Realty last summer - August 2020 - in Rodanthe,…read moreNC. It was by far the absolute worst vacation experience that I and my family have ever had. I have contemplated writing this review for awhile now, and receiving promotional emails from OBR has prompted me to follow through in the hope that it might save someone else from making the same mistake we did by renting from this company We were a group of 5 - my husband, my elderly parents, my 5 year old and myself. We live in western NC, and the trip to get to Rodanthe is about 9-10 hour drive. We decided to break long drive up by leaving on Friday and spending the night halfway at a hotel, since we were concerned about my elderly father (84 years old and with Parkinson's and cancer) sitting too long in the car. While we were already on the road, we received a call from OBR (a day before check-in) that the AC in our rental house was not working - but parts had been ordered and the AC would be repaired early in our stay. They said they had placed window units in the house. When we arrived at our check-in time, we found that the house was indeed without AC and window units were running. However, these units did almost nothing to change the temperature in the house. There were a total of 3 units - one in the living room, one in two of the four bedrooms in the house. The temperature in the house stayed between 79-85 degrees the entire length of our stay! My son had to sleep with my husband and I because the kids bedroom with the bunk beds was unusable due to the heat. He was extremely disappointed (as were we!) as he'd been looking forward to using the bunk beds. The other bedroom that was unusable was one that my sister was planning to use - as she was going to join us a few days into our trip. She cancelled her plans due to the lack of AC. The temperatures outside in late August were in the 90's. So we paid for a 4 bedroom house where only half the bedrooms were usable. We had many conversations with people at OBR over the course of our stay. They sent a repair person out to check on the status of the repair, and he informed us that no parts had been ordered for the AC units and in fact they had not been working for several months!!! He said other people had stayed at this house before us in the weeks prior and had complained also. So, it became clear to us that OBR had totally LIED to us about the house. We had purchased travel insurance and could have cancelled our trip if they had let us know before we started driving there. They knew far in advance about the status of the AC. They only offered us a 20 percent refund. The entire trip was totally miserable because we could not relax at all in the house or sleep well while we were constantly sweating. My dad has mobility issues which is why we chose a house right on the water, so he could see the ocean without having to walk anywhere. The best times during the trip were when we got in the car to go somewhere else like a restaurant with AC. At the house we were constantly having to empty the water out of the AC units, and the drain on the electrical caused the breakers in the house to trip about every 15 minutes.... so we had to constantly turn the power back on and we could not watch tv because of this. The washer and drier was also not functional, so we could not wash out sweaty clothes. This is not what a vacation is supposed to be about!! One should not spend over 4,000.00 to be extremely stressed out!! We will NEVER rent a vacation property from Outer Beaches Realty again, and I encourage anyone reading this review not to either.

The house was perfect and worth every penny. I'll admit, I was intimidated at first when booking the house, but oh my gosh it could not have been easier. When we arrived, we did need to contact them for something silly and they were attentive and the resolve was very quick. The walk to the beach was short and sweet. It was the best week of my life. When we arrived, we were greeted by their welcoming staff and promptly gained access to our rental where we had crisp bedding, a super clean home and a nice welcome bag with everything we need to plan out our days. The property was beautiful and had all the space we needed. The views we had we're so nice too! We've rented from a few other companies in the past in other destinations, but we'll definitely keep using Emerald Isle Realty when we come back to Emerald Isle, NC. The value, hospitality and experience was great, and we're so thankful our trip was as good as it was. Thank you, Emerald Isle Realty!

We rented Sea Worthy! What a terrible experience!! We left…read moretwo days early because we were fed up with this rental. There were so many issues in our 5 days. My family encountered the following: 1. ROACHES on the Bottom floor 2. Ice maker never worked. Even though we called and a nice maintenance guy came promptly to fix, it stopped working quickly afterwards. 3. MOLD - this is unacceptable!!! And the neighbor had mold too!! 4. Sliders to the ocean that were very hard to open. And stuck. 5. No blinds or drapes. 6. Broken blinds 7. A dehumidifier that we were not given instructions for that we had to empty multiple times per day. 8. No info on trash pick up. 9. Dirty, trash left in place and a dirty qtip left in a bedroom. 10. Old furniture throughout. $15000 a week deserves much better furniture. 11. Weak decking that can be hazardous. 12. Dirty exterior. We are aware of the ocean winds and salt however, the fencing has been rarely cleaned because of all the dirt on the railings and slats. There is more but we are tired from a vacation that didn't happen well and we need to recover from it. We are very disappointed!!!

Once we checked-in, Saturday, June 29 we were informed by the Waves Office of Resort Realty that…read morethe Vacation Home (Dolphin Watch - #7534 - Avon, NC) was unlocked due to the cleaning staff being unable to lock the front door. When we arrived at the house, no one in our party could figure out how to lock the front door; the deadbolt simply would not engage. We promptly called the office on Monday, July 1 and spoke with Jeanine to have maintenance come and check the door. That was not the only issue, as the Pool Lights (the underwater light as well as deck lights) were not working at this time. Jeanine advised that she would put a ticket in for maintenance to look at the front door and the pool company to check the pool lights. Tuesday, July 2 no one had come to address either issue. I called back again, and referenced the time, date, and who I spoke with, however NEITHER ticket was placed. I spoke with Angel and she put the ticket in ... again. Luckily, maintenance did show up later that day as I told Angel it was 3 days now that the house could not be locked. When the maintenance man showed up, he was very helpful and demonstrated how to use the door lock, where you have to lift up the handle to engage the 1st part, then turn the deadbolt. Who would know that? That should that be in the instructions for the house. Obviously, if the cleaning staff cannot lock the door, how would a family from out-of-town know? The pool maintenance showed up at some point on Wednesday, July 3 (4 days into our trip). He was also very friendly. The underwater light in the pool was out, so it needed replaced because it shorted the circuit (there was a taped switch by the pool lights, apparently so not to short the circuit). Basically, the underwater light was not replaced and that switch was taped as a quick-fix. Everything to this point should have been addressed prior to checking in for our week at this $5,600.00 rental home. A list of other smaller issues including, but not limited to: - The main sink faucet in the Kitchen was leaking (maintenance completely replaced the faucet, Friday July 5) - The small island sink in the Kitchen drained slowly (maintenance did not fix) - Filter in the hot tub was changed (maintenance completed with us, Wednesday July 3) - A credit card fee to place the reservation online ($45.00 I believe) - Other realty companies do not charge this. The house needed a more deep-cleaning. From the A/C filters being filthy, to black mold in the shower in the Master Bedroom on the 3rd floor (my partner and I scrubbed out with some leftover bleach; we didn't bother to ask maintenance do deal with it). The last issue arose when the A/C stopped working on the 2nd floor (all family bedrooms) on Thursday, July 4. We only noticed it after maintenance had come on Wednesday and changed our filters (they were dark grey with dust). We called maintenance, left a message on July 4 evening, then again on Friday, July 5 as an after-hours maintenance request. We still did not have A/C on the 2nd floor when we locked the house and left on Saturday Morning. This is a great shame; we have rented through several realty companies through our lives and Sun Realty may be the best, Resort Realty has been the worst. Maybe someone should do an undercover rental through Sun and see all that they are doing right. People come to OBX, oftentimes (such as our situation) splitting the cost of a beachfront home so that everyone can enjoy something special, luxurious, and relaxing. This trip was a constant battle of issues with the home and maintenance that should have be completed prior to a guest's check-in. There are too many realty companies to choose from in OBX and I would highly suggest reconsidering the rental if it happens to be through Resort Realty.
