It was so bad that I'm almost convinced she doesn't want new customers. I spent the first half giving her the benefit of the doubt but eventually came to the conclusion that she was purposefully trying to drive me away and make sure I don't come back. Small businesses have different reasons for doing this sometimes. The bed was extremely creaky and making sound the entire time, the towel my face was laying on smelled like body odor, she answered a phone call for another client in the middle of my massage without saying anything, she didn't use lotion on my legs or arms, there was a large uncovered window (shouldn't it be private?), she had really light pressure on the spots that should have heavy pressure and really painful pressure on sensitive places (dead giveaway that she didn't want to me return; felt purposeful), she was watching a Korean drama very loudly when I walked in and kept it on while I changed and then turned it back on immediately when she was done with the massage, she put a dirty towel on my hair and used it to massage my head? The last half of the massage was just her massaging (AKA literally scrubbing) me through a scratchy towel, etc. Again, nice lady and I mean no harm, but don't go here. I don't even think SHE wants you to come here. There's clearly some under the table stuff going on that she's more interested in profiting off of.

Also, a scraping tool is common in deeper massage work. The number one rule though is, if the treatment is hurting, then speak up! Ask the practioner to ease up on the pressure. I was heartened to see the COVID19 precautions: all clients and staff must remain masked in the salon; extra time allotted between appointments for sanitizing the rooms; temp scan, hand sanitizer, and COVID symptom questionnaire when you enter. Despite all of that I started to have an anxiety attack as I disrobed for my first close contact with a person not in my bubble for four months. Being massaged in a mask was weird but not as uncomfortable as I expected and it was so necessary for healing my mind and body during these anxious times.
