I very seldom write reviews but Tarun, the pharmacist at Oceanside Pharmacy deserves a shout out. My husband and I moved from San Diego to Carlsbad a few years ago . At 70 years old and with numerous medical conditions, I was tired of the big pharmacies-where they question some of your medications or act as if they know better than your doctor-and believe me it happens. Tarun always makes sure to get your prescriptions filled in a timely matter, stays calm even when the phones are ringing off the hook and always takes the time to listen. This is the best pharmacy in the area. If you want the old school experience of personalized care and going to a place "where everybody knows my name" (cue Cheers theme song LOL) then this is where you need to be. Tarun, Lidia and Denise provide unmatched customer service. They get your insurance dialed in and if there are any glitches will help find a deal when they can. Although the pharmacy is small they offer a nice selection of OTC items at a fair price. I can't recommend them more highly. read more

I came here yesterday for my Covid vaccine booster. They were short staffed and very busy that day but both the pharmacist and the woman at the front register made me feel very welcome and taken care of. Even after they stopped taking walk-ins for boosters because of the busyness, I noticed the pharmacist would still make time to squeeze a few more people in. I love this local, non-corporate owned, family operated, small little pharmacy tucked away in the corner of Oceanside. If you want an honest, knowledgeable pharmacist who cares more about their patients then they do big money, I highly recommend this place! I am getting ready to switch all of my family's prescriptions to this location. I am tired of handing my money and business over every single month to these greedy, mass operated, chain pharmacies that do nothing but cause more headaches than any help they actually offer their customers. If you have multiple family members on multiple medications, it's even more ridiculous...and the two times I have been in to speak with the owner and operator of this pharmacist has solidified my belief that they truly care about their patients...they see us as people and not dollar signs, and they are just as technologically plugged in (accepting electronic prescriptions, etc.) as the big pharmacies...only way more compassionate and willing to take their time to explain things to you in terms you'll understand. They're willing to work with your insurance companies, and if they can't help, they will look over your insurance card to find the appropriate number for you to call so you can get the answers you need. The big chains treat anyone who has more than one controlled substance prescription like an addict...and it's disgusting - especially when you're taking said prescriptions in for MINOR children whose issues they don't even know about. The CVS on North River Rd. is notorious for actually shorting controlled substance prescriptions (necessitating me having to count my own child's medications by hand myself - and even if I do find a discrepancy, they deny it and refuse to replace the missing medication). To be fair, only one pharmacist (Susan at the North River Rd. CVS Location) has ever done this, but it's just one of the multitude of issues I've had with her in particular. Even in speaking with the owners/operators of this beautiful little independent pharmacy has given me an entirely different perspective on how pharmacies SHOULD be run...and even though we haven't been able to port all of our family's prescriptions over there just yet due to how many specialists and doctors we collectively see between the three of us (who all have disabilities of our own, and it shouldn't need to be justified to the larger chain pharmacies or pharmacists with egos and power trips that make an already difficult process living with all of these conditions and trying to juggle the medications, when they're supposed to be refilled, etc (it's like a full time job sometimes!) unnecessarily more difficult due to their own control issues. This new pharmacy I've found is like a gold mine. CVS is about to lose quite a bit of money in our entire family's collective prescriptions every month...many of our prescriptions are expensive ones... and I hope more people follow suit. Ditch the bargain basement chain stores, where you're a number and not a human being, and support local businesses like this pharmacy. It doesn't cost anything more, especially if you have insurance. I also learned that they not only compound medicines here - they also DELIVER your prescriptions! None of the money-hungry corporate pharmacies offer this service! The owners are just good people with good hearts, integrity, professionalism, and enthusiasm for the patients whose lives they are effectively changing by treating them like human beings... This is what ALL pharmacies should be doing. Take notes, Big Corporate Chain Pharmacies. read more

It's a nice change from big pharma chains with impersonal service. My refills are handled with ease. My general doctor is consulted if needed. I transferred my prescriptions to this Pharmacy because of a friend who stated she had a very good experience with them. My first time filling an emergency prescription went well. However, I have been waiting for them to fill a much needed daily prescription for me and haven't heard back from them. I called today to let them know that I need my prescription filled and find out that they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. What happens now? I now have to wait two days before my prescription is filled. I might need to return to my previous pharmacy as they are open 7 days/week. Not a very good system in my opinion. read more

Excellent customer service!!! My mom was discharged from the hospital on a Friday afternoon and had extremely expensive prescriptions. I called Oceanside Pharmacy at 5:40 (they close at 6pm), and they were extremely helpful and accommodating. They told me they would be here past 6 for me to come in and get my mom's prescriptions filled. The pharmacist Tarun helped me and was able to get the best prices for me along with helping me figure out coupons or alternative medications. I started going to this pharmacy about 3 years ago, upon my doctors recommendation and still here in 2022 it's the best decision made. The staff treat you so personal and very kind, and attend to your questions and with expediency in prescriptions to be filled. I appreciate the time they take to accommodate you regardless as to taking care of their customers. The pharmacist is cordial and acknowledges your concern in answering questions you may have. It's a small facility but the heart in patient satisfaction is BIG! Recommend highly in using this pharmacy rather than the big ones near by such as CVS, or Walgreens. Only opened 5 days a week may be the only discomfort; but if no need for weekends refills this is a very attentive pharmacy. read more

Love, love, love these folks! I've got a complicated condition so I have been on a lot of meds over the years and had to deal with a lot of pharmacies. Oceanside pharmacy is the best! Sure, they've got some of the hiccups that come from it being a small neighborhood pharmacy. (Not open on weekends. Sometimes have to order a med bc they don't do enough volume to keep everything under the sun on order. Etc) The perks of it being a small, competent, team where they actually know their customers far outweighs and minor inconveniences. They are really good at working with insurance companies and figuring out problems to cut through red tape. They are happy to do free delivery and I've even had the pharmacist himself drop my meds off one night when he knew I needed them! 5+ Stars! read more

After reading all of the great reviews I was very disappointed with the experiences I had at Oceanside Pharmacy. During my first visit I was told the medication would be available the next day and that someone would call me. When I didn't receive a call that day I called the following day in the afternoon only to be told they would be ordering the medication that day and would call me the next day when it was ready. So I was a little frustrated that the medication hadn't even been ordered yet and now I would have to wait even longer. I called the next day in the afternoon because again I hadn't received a call from the pharmacy. The person who answered the phone said "yeah its ready". If it was ready then why wasn't I called?? Had I not called I wouldn't have known my medication was there. I thought maybe this was a fluke bad experience and decided to give them another chance. I should have known better. I took in a prescription from my doctor. I asked how long it would take. I was told a day if there were no problems. If there were problems he would call me later that day. I hadn't heard from him in a couple of days so I called the pharmacy only to be told there was an issue with getting it filled. I had to call my insurance, my doctors office and the pharmacy to try to figure out what the problem was. The pharmacist did absolutely nothing to try to resolve the problem. The pharmacist where I get my other medications at CVS in Target in Vista works on my behalf to resolve any issues with where ever the problem is and is able to get me my medication. When the medication issue was finally resolved I called Oceanside pharmacy on a Monday around 930am to make sure they received the authorization for the medication which had been authorized on the previous Friday and was told the system was updating and they couldn't tell me. The pharmacy opens at 9am and it's still updating at 930? I called again after 130pm to ask if they received the authorization, was told yes and before I could get the words "ok I will go pick up tomorrow" I was hung up on. I was there at 9:10am (I got there early in hopes of finding parking because it is hard finding parking there due to so many businesses there) and I was walking behind the pharmacist. I had to wait for him to open. Thankfully he had the medication in stock. read more

Owner is friendly and service is fast. I switched from Rite-Aid to Oceanside Pharmacy because I always had to wait three to five days for my son's medication after dropping off the prescription at Rite-Aid. The owner of Oceanside Pharmacy had the medication ready within one day and then said he would make sure he had it available for me each month. So far so good, he always has it now and I never have to wait days at a time and get all stressed out wondering if it is going to come in time. Dad went in this week for hip replacement surgery, everything went well. He was prescribed a pain killer and something to prevent blood clotting. I went to Rite Aid to get the prescriptions filled. The pain pill was covered under insurance but the anticoagulant (Lovenox) was not. Rite Aide gave me a price of over $300.00 for 7 treatments. He needs 24 shots. That's around $45.00 per shot. I asked the pharmacist if they could give the price on a generic version. She said that was the generic version. Sounded fishy to me!The next day I took the prescription to the Oceanside Pharmacy, they offer free delivery by the way. (Tarun Wadhwa is the owner with his wife) I gave him the prescription not telling him what Rite Aid said. He offered me a generic version right away, as an alternative to Lovenox, Rite Aid lied! He first offered to check to see if he could get it through insurance even though I told him that the insurance wasn't covering it. Still no luck, thanks for trying. He gave me a price of $79.00 for 10 shots, less than $8.00 per dose! A savings of over 500%! Tarun was super helpful, he sold me what he had and said that they would deliver the next round of treatments to mom and dads house early next week. I want to encourage everyone to avoid Rite Aid because the they are greedy, rude and disgusting liars! Instead go see Tarun at The Oceanside Pharmacy, they are the best! read more

Literally amazing service that you can't find in a chain pharmacy Also, they carry disphragms! The owner is ridiculously helpful. After trying around 30 pharmacies and medical suppliers in the area, none of which were able to fill my rx, I decided to walk in as I was leaving a doc office in the same building.. so glad I did! He immediately started looking up how he could fill my proscription and although he ran into bed some road blocks (the same ones that caused chain pharmacy employees to give up), within 2 minutes he had found a work around. He was even willing to persistently pursue calling my doctor's office (they're hard to get a hold of) because i had lost the paper rx. The whole thing was smooth and easy.
