Had the pleasure of eating here for the first time on Saturday with friends who had eaten here before, and we loved it! It was my first visit and WOW!! My husband and I were so pleasantly surprised!!!! The service was impeccable! Luckily for us, that night it was the executive chef and owner, Maria, because they were short on help ! She could not have been more attentive, more kind, or more friendly! The food is incredible! Starting with the beautiful presentation! After our fabulous experience on Saturday, we returned tonight, 3 days later, taking another friend who had never been. Again, the service was impeccable! Maria stopped by our table to say hello a few times! Several of the staff stopped at our table to chat! Again, the food was exquisite! So much flavor and so well presented! Everything I've had has always been so good. Civeche is the best I've had. Branzino and other fish dishes have been great.

Two reasons I cannot give a five star review- first, the lighting in the room we were in was super dim- they need some sconces or something. The second reason is not the restaurants fault - we were just unlucky enough to sit next to a party of 12. They kept our waiter running, so his attention on our table was lacking. He was very apologetic, and we completely understand- but it did ruin our experience a bit. Our server did a wonderful job of explaining many of the dishes for us, which we really appreciated. The food was amazing! Drinks were great, we tried the mule and the margarita. Crab dip small plate was really good as well as the empanadas. For entrees we had the halibut (special), the spicy seafood dish I cannot pronounce and the filet. Everything was nicely presented and delicious. From hostess who was cute and young but didn't utter a word when we came inside no welcome to Oceano, do you have reservation, nothing until I said that we have reservation...overall food was okay, cocktails a bit watered down, I liked appetizer fritto misto the most, it was light and crunchy few shrimp and rest calamari. Octopus was a bit chewy and slimy so not for me! Our entrees - halibut came out lukewarm and sunchokes purée was really spicy ( they did take if off our check once we mentioned it to our server) paella was good but oily it's a pricey dish but you get a lot, easily enough for two people to share. Throughout the dinner our server was very slow, spending lots of time at computer, it seemed like she needed lots of help. We waited long time first to get our appetizers and then to get our entrees.After we were ready to go, didn't even want to see desserts menu. Just got tired of waiting. We had a wonderful visit to Oceans. our waitress was darling & thoroughly knew the menu offering us lots of recommendation. We started with the yummy Burrata and Prosciutto salad, sweet potato bisque with crab, and quinoa salad. We enjoyed every bite. There were so many fish entrees it was hard to decide. Two members at the table chose fish ~ Salmon & Black Bass. I ordered a burger which was well seasoned and cooked just as I like. And the last to order was a filet. Our plates were clean. Fabulous dining & partying experience! I recently hosted a birthday party for 40 guests and it was a totally amazing evening from beginning to end! The wait staff was " Johnny on the spot" with drink orders and passed hors d'oeuvres. Drinks were not skimpy with alcohol and the appetizers were steaming hot and scrumptious. We had fried oysters, meatballs, shrimp and crab cakes to die for! Dinner, beginning with salad and followed by perfectly prepared entrees, was timely and just as delicious. Guests chose and dined on either Alaskan Salmon, Prime Rib, Shrimp & Grits, Chicken Alfredo, or Spinach Stuffed Pasta. All of the pastas and bread are made in house and wonderful. Everything about our event was enhanced not only by the outstanding service and delicious food but the continued monitoring during the evening by the manager to be sure there was nothing missing or anything more the restaurant could provide. I could never recommend Oceano without my adding that the owner and management of this fine restaurant made the entire experience easy and exceptional. Date night. Dinner was delicious. We started with Caesar salad and sea scallops. Probably the best sea scallops dish I've had in a restaurant. I enjoyed the corn presentation and the purées. I had the corn cappelletti and the pasta was so good. My boyfriend had the whole roasted branzino and I snagged a piece along with a potato and it was absolutely delicious. I loved how well all the dishes were seasoned, but not too much salt. My only critique is that some of the salad was turning brown but honestly all the other dishes made that a minor part of the meal. The service was impeccable. We will be going back! read more

This is a totally new establishment that has done a complete upgrade of this location, formerly occupied by Chez Louis. Beyond the street address, Oceano is NOTHING like the former occupant. The fresh house bread was served with a full bodied fruity olive oil & with a chive infused soft butter. Very nice. My wife had the Strawberry Tejito cocktail which had an excellent balance of sweet/tart, with an awesome strawberry lightness. The shrimp cocktail appetizer had nice sized shrimp, but departed from the typical with a sauce that had a pretty good heat with the usual sweetness... Not for someone who does not prefer chilies, but well worth it for others. The Cappelletti with sweet corn is highly recommended. The dish is served with savory brown sauce made with nicely textured mushrooms, and just the right ratios of seasonings. The pasta had a perfect texture and the sweet filling was a nice counterpoint to the sauce. Save some bread to soak up everything in the bowl! The bone broth bolognese had similarly perfect fresh pasta. The tomato sauce was fresh and bright. The beef brought intensity without being overly heavy. Also, highly recommended. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a delicious crispy skin. The mash was excellent. Full with sweetness and flavor. My dining experience at Oceano Midlothian was superb. My friend and I decided to grab some food last minute yesterday evening. Although we did not have a reservation at the restaurant, we were greeted nicely and seated by one of the owners. Throughout the night, we indulged in several zesty, lemon-infused cocktails, including the Maria Margarita. Many of the drinks contain freshly squeeze lemon or lime and capture the essence of Italy's Amalfi Coast. We began our dining experience by ordering raw oysters and traditional ceviche. The oysters were full-body and fresh, and the ceviche was zesty and inviting. We later had entrees that surpassed our expectations. My salmon was grilled to perfection, and my friend enjoyed her spicy pasta dish. Our waitress was super attentive and very nice as we dined throughout the night, and the ambiance was cozy yet exciting with other diners enjoying their food at tables and guests at the lively bar area. read more

Have been twice now and had great experiences both times. Wait staff attentive and friendly. Interior bright and inviting. Had different wait staff on each visit and both were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful when it came to dissecting the menu and wine options. The grilled octopus small plate is a must. Don't think we can go back ever without getting it. Cooked perfectly which can't be said for everyone that serves octopus, and paired well with the tapenade. Have tried the sweet corn cappelletti add shrimp (phenomenal), Pomodoro and yellow tomato add meatballs (very good) and the Paella (large dish easy for sharing; a little too much oil for my liking but wife loved it and the arrangement was wonderful). I have been to Oceano twice now, and the first time I went (a year ago), everything was great. Service, food, etc. I just went again more recently, and while the food was still solid, unfortunately the service was terrible. The only reason it was saved was we were with a larger group and having a good time chatting with each other. If we didn't enjoy our conversations, the wait times would be completely unacceptable. I had to go to the hostess stand to ask them where our food (and waiter) was. The restroom didn't have toilet paper in it either, which is another big no no in my opinion. And when the check came out, they added 23% service tip which I know is standard on larger parties, but considering we felt the service was terrible, we would have felt better if we could choose the amount of tip we felt the servers deserved. I would give the food 5 stars, but feel the service was closer to a 3. read more

This was our 1st visit, but it will not be our last. From the moment I stepped in the restaurant, I felt like I was visiting a restaurant on the Carolina coast. The menu wasn't overly saturated with choices, which I enjoy. Sometimes way too many choices don't make for fresh dishes in my opinion. The complimentary Focaccia bread was soft and flavorful. We started with the Fried Oysters and Empanadas. The empanadas were literally the best, we ended up ordering a few more to take home. My husband and I shared the Paella, and there was still enough left to take home, it was also delicious. Our drinks were well-made, I recommend sipping on a Maria's Margarita. We enjoyed chatting with our waiter, Josue, we got some history about the chef and where her recipes originated from. Everyone there was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning soon.
