Dr. , Maria, and myself with my new glasses!
Abdiel N.

Ive been searching for a new eye dr for sometime now and finally found one! The care they give you here is amazing! The office is so clean and organized with plenty of different options for frames! Maria the receptionist is amazing! So sweet! Made me feel so comfortable and is not pushing at all like other optometrist. My experience was so great that now my wife just booked her appointment here as well! I am now a lifetime customer! Dr. Morgan is so friendly , explains everything to a tee! I left with zero doubts! I love my new glasses and can wait to return for my contact lens appointment! Thanks a million to Ocean View optometry!

If you were looking for a 5 Star+ North County quality optical center with fantastic customer service, quick turnaround, great selection of glasses and your other optometry office just isn't it, then this is your spot. I first heard about Ocean View optometry at the Carlsbad Street fair. I had previously been going to another optical center in Carlsbad, which unfortunately was bought out by a larger company and the quality of the service and customer care seemed to go down, so I decided to try a new optical office and I was really glad that I did. Maria, the head optician greets you warmly on the phone and immediately confirmed to make sure that my insurance plan was covered before setting an appointment, which helps a lot because I have personally been to other offices that will see you, only to later find out that they are either not in network or you'll have a huge out-of-pocket cost so this helped a great deal right off the bat (1st Star for insurance coverage network and verification). I was able to get an appointment within a week which was flexible with my schedule and very different from past optical offices, where I couldn't even get an appointment for weeks. (2nd Star for flexibility and scheduling) When I first visited the office, I noticed that it was in a great location with plenty of parking and right next to Bound coffee shop. (3rd star for location and parking) When I walked in the office, it was light and beautifully decorated, and there was a wide selection of very aesthetic, looking glasses and frames. (4th Star for great vibe and cool selection of glasses I would actually want). Maria greeted me warmly and I was seen promptly for the eye tests and then I saw Dr. Morgan who was very kind patient and thorough with every aspect of the eye exam. I didn't ever feel rushed and I especially liked that I could ask questions about various eye issues I had been experiencing, since I have sensitive eyes. Since I am a contact lens wearer he suggested a new brand of contacts that I never used or heard any of at my previous optician and I gave then a try with a trial pair they set up for me. Everything was done promptly during my exam and I never felt rushed unlike my experience with other opticians. I received a follow up call the next day from Maria asking about the comfort of the new contact lenses and no surprise that, I love them. They were way better than my last pair and let more air in and had better comfort and no dry eye (so great that I recommended them to a friend who wears lenses and runs marathons). I decided to order them and Maria provided me with all of the rebate information and receipts necessary to file the claim online. I also had my ray ban frame glasses from a previous office fitted with my new prescription and surprisingly they came back within days. It was wonderful. My kid had sat on the glasses, but Maria and team were able to bring them back to life from a "pancake" to "perfect to me" glasses - I was so pleased with their service that I also set up an eye doctor appointment for my kid because she is now in school. Dr. Morgan as a parent himself is also very kind and patient when going through the exam with my shy child. He did not rush her through and spent extra time explaining things in a way that she would understand and not be scared. He noted issues that I could continue to monitor since both of her parents (me, lol) have poor eyesight. (5th Star+ for amazing customer service of me and my kid). I am very pleased with my initial appointment and every aspect of the customer care that I received at Ocean View Optomety. If there is anyone looking for a new optician, I highly recommend this office because I feel like you will receive five star + care just like I did. Thank you to the OV Team!

Ocean View optometry has taken such good care of me. They have a beautiful, bright and clean office. Maria at the front desk is knowledgeable and gives great recommendations when choosing eyewear. Dr. Morgan is experienced, easy to talk to and kind. If you're looking for a new Optometrist, don't think twice. Give Ocean View a try!

Dr Morgan is very thorough and knowledgeable. He takes his time and explains everything while he's examining your eyes. He is friendly and respectful. Maria is amazing and kind. Variety of glasses to choose from and the best part is prices are reasonable. And also it's across Angelos Burger joint.

The on-site staff "doesn't handle billing" and the torturous process of trying to contact the billing department (which is located in the Eastern time zone) involved multiple phone calls over several days with 15-30 minute hold times leading to my leaving a v/m which was ignored ("Due to staffing issues, wait times are longer than usual. Leave a voicemail if you can't continue to hold") And this was just to prove I'd already paid the bill (through my bank) a month earlier. I finally got through to someone today only to hear, yep, the letter was sent in error. Ugh, life is too short to waste my time with a company that refuses to staff enough to correct their own mistakes. Any company can bill in error but when the process to correct the error becomes this onerous, I'm done.

I cancelled and then ask to reinstated. They refused and dumped me as a patient. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About 3 days before the planned cataract surgery, I got email instructions from North Coast Surgical Center about how to preparer for FOOT AND HAND surgery. This freaked me out because, if they cant get that right, what else are they going to screw up? I called and complained. A nurse called from the surgery center to explain. I also got a voicemail message from Dr. Foster. They are closed on Friday and over the weekend, so i could not talk to anyone. I started digging into available info about the surgery center. Their NEWSWEEK rating for Ambulatory Surgery Centers had dropped from #11 in 2021 to #59 in 2024, by 2025 they had slipped to #63. During this period, they were bought by United Healthcare. I was somewhat freaked out, and decided to cancel,. I tried to provide as much notice as possible, to minimize problems, so sent an email on Saturday to cancel. By Monday morning, I was less freaked out, so called the office to reschedule. I talked to a surgical scheduler/manager, Sherry, who told me, and I paraphrase, that: Dr. Foster did not like me researching information about the surgery center, and no longer wanted me as a patient. My surgery was cancelled. This is not an exact recollection about the cause, but they no longer wanted me. I am going to contact medicare to see whether they can charge if they decide to cancel me. As a patient for eye surgery, I believe that I have the right to gather all available information about doctors and surgery centers. They are working on my eyes and I don't want any problems. As a private practice, they can certainly refuse to treat me as a patient if they want to do so, but I started this investigation because of errors on their part? Why dump me as a patient?

They were very friendly and very informative to all of the patients. I was impressed. I recently got new glasses (at a different place) and it was not a good experience . The office staff here did not push an upsell, she gave options and suggestions with supporting reasons why she made the suggestions. They were very thorough, very friendly and guided us through the process. She was super knowledgeable and patient with the indecisiveness whilst we tried on numerous glasses. I had a pair of sunglasses (that they didn't prescribe) that had a broken rubber nose pad, she happened to have a replacement that she gave me. She was really helpful in suggesting frames and was honest about how they looked. His new glasses look great and he is happy. Next year when I need a check up, I will come here (hopefully they take my insurance). It's seems really hard to find a good eye Dr with a nice office staff. There's a good reason for all the recent positive reviews!

Life-changing…read more.. After a brain injury (TBI) five years ago--right at the start of the pandemic--I struggled daily with balance and vision issues. It took over two years just to get off the waitlist for Vision Therapy, which meant my condition went untreated for far too long. During that time, I rarely felt confident going out on my own, driving, or even working on my computer due to constant eye strain, headaches, and intense dizziness. When I finally had my first appointment in October 2024, I was reassured that improvement was possible with patience and consistency. Fast forward nearly two years, and I can confidently say that Vision Therapy--especially the weekly sensory table sessions combined with daily eye and brain exercises--has made an incredible difference. I noticed a small improvement after my very first 30-minute session on the sensory table, which gave me hope. From there, each week built on the last. Dr. Dukes recommended 36 sessions, and by around session 20, I already felt about 80% better. Progress is gradual, and everyone's experience may differ, but for me, the improvement in balance and visual comfort has been remarkable. The exercises done at home are just as important--consistency truly makes all the difference. Taylor has been exceptional throughout this journey. Her guidance, encouragement, and expertise kept me motivated every step of the way. She not only provided effective tools and techniques but also took the time to listen and offer genuine support. She's an incredible therapist, and I'm so grateful for her care. The sensory table sessions themselves are deeply relaxing. You can choose to have music or simply enjoy the quiet. Lying back under soft red, blue, and green lights, allowing your eyes to gently track their movement, becomes a calming and restorative experience. Light therapy takes time, but it truly works. Staying committed to the process is key--and for me, it has been absolutely worth it.

Dr. Coffey wanted charge me for another eye exam before fixing the glasses. The prescription she wrote in 2022 was 20/20. I asked that the lenses be remade to my previous prescription. I went to pick up today and the glasses were made with the 2025 prescription. Their optometrist said they would use the 2022 prescription which they didn't. Today's optometrist said they cannot use an expired prescription, even if it is from Dr. Coffey, why didn't their optometrist tell me this when they said they were going to remake them. I strongly do not recommend this business. I think it is common practice to charge twice for eye exam and their lab cannot make lenses correctly. No refund out $500 just for lenses and this is with VSP. 2022 paid $800 for frames and lenses... way over priced for bad service. I filed a complaint with VSP and learned Total Vision is NOT in VSP network since 2024. The optometrist portion inside their lobby is also not within VSP network which both failed to mention to me. These businesses do not inform long time Daniel & Davis patients of this change and allow us to assume they are but they billed VSP as out of network.
