This office way overcharges for contact lenses, please be aware to price check with other offices if you are looking to buy lenses. I paid almost twice as much than another office!! The doctors were fine and no concerns with the actual staff but I was very disappointed in the amount I spent that I switched practices. read more

Front desk person is unpleasant and slow. She does not turn around to a knowledge customers. Could not make a follow up because she took over 5 minutes to turn around and I had to leave. Nobody else was there. Not a busy time for her at all. When you call, they send you through an automated system and waste time telling you not to leave messages, but then that's the only thing you can do because they don't answer the phone. read more

This is not for the service that I received because I could not get past the rude receptionist. She asked if I had a referral. I said that I had received a call from your office to schedule an appointment. She asked for my Scan number, as I am looking for the correct number she said, 'forget it, I'll try something else. Guess I was too slow for her. I am a senior citizen. She said that they didn't have a referral for me. I told her that I didn't need a referral for a yearly eye exam. I was referred by Azul which was next door. She said that somebody told you wrong! You have to go to your PCM and ask for a referral . By this time I said thank you and hung up. I called Scan and they confirmed that I did not need a referral because they were in network. It's a shame that you are so turned off by the first person that you speak with that you decide to go elsewhere. read more

I used them cuz they were ' in network' for my eye exam and new glasses. When I met with the guy after my exam...I gave him my existing glasses and asked that he just order new updated lenses- progressive lenses. He said fine. Then he charged me $385 to order the new lenses. I said- $350 is covered by my insurance --he said I need to pay full amount then get reimbursed. Sitting there with my eyes dilated...I took him at his word . Fast forward....Tayani billed my insurance over $800 for the lenses!! So the my insurance said they don't reimburse me cuz that's what I paid extra over and above my $350 allotment! I usually go to Costco for my glasses but becuz he said I would get reimbursed... and never told me the entire amount...I got really screwed ! He only wrote down a total of $385 when talking to me --never over $800! read more

Dr Tayani came through! I had a severe allergic reaction to Medication I was prescribed for dry-eye. I called Dr. Tayani's office late on Sunday evening and explained what was happening. Moments after leaving my message Dr. Tayani called me, prescribed a steroid medication at a near-by 24 hr pharmacy. I was able to get relief immediately. I cannot thank Dr. T enough. He made room In his schedule to see me the following day just to make sure I was responding well. Amazing, professional and friendly. He really cares. You just don't get service like this anymore. I'm still recovering but thanks to this wonderful doctor I am going to be okay. read more

They don't answer their phones at all! They billed our insurance twice & tried to send us the same bill 3 times. Just awful!

I haven`t been here. I called today for an appointment because I got a card telling me that had basically taken over my previous optitians patients. The receptionist keeps me on hold for long enough, comes back on the line to tell me that she needs my insurance info before I can get an appointment. But I`m calling someone who has taken over previous patients info so why would you need my Insurance info shouldn`t you have that? & it`s going to take her awhile to find my Insurance info, so I cant get an appointment until she does. There`s an answer to people who act like that & the 2nd word is "off". If you can`t give me an appointment until you can ascertain that I have insurance then you are typically greedy & don`t give a flying f about your customers. There are plenty of optical places around here. Over 10 years of going to the previous Optitian, shame he retired. read more

Hazy vision for several months. Unable to drive at night. Finally, i had cataract surgery with Dr Tayani. 100% painless and just one day later I see so clearly that I don't need glasses for that eye. Much better, much easier than I expected, but it's his skill and an experienced staff. read more

Terrible front office!!!! The front desk service is absolutely awful. I'm not expecting resort hotel-like service from the front desk of a doctor's office, but can I expect a polite greeting or even a slight smile...? Their unwelcoming attitude is on par with the TSA at LAX. During my second visit, an accountant insulted me in front of everyone when I asked why I had to pay "non-referral's co -pay". She said, "It's different with official doctor's referral paper and just a doctor's referral." Even though I had presented a formal referral, she mistakenly assumed I was there to see a doctor without it. When I made my appointment, I had been told they wouldn't accept patients without a referral. She doesn't know their own protocol? The worst part was that the person who made my appointment was with me when this accountant was explaining things to me. When I mentioned her name, she didn't say anything even I submitted my Dr's referral to her via email. When I showed her Dr's paper, the accountant realized that it was their mistake, but she never apologize... she just stated that she will look into it but I never heard from her. Absolutely NO Sincereness. And this was on a recent visit. The front desk clerk, unsurprisingly, didn't smile and told me my appointment was canceled. She said she'd called several times to reschedule. Granted, there was only one rescheduling call. However, since I received a confirmation email and text message after the call, I didn't feel the need to call. When I asked why I received a confirmation message, they said it was an automated reminder...but if my appointment was canceled by their convenience, why didn't they update their system???? I guess contacting me once is enough to show that they took responsibility, so I guess they don't need to apologize for any inconvenience. The medical staff were all very nice, especially Dr. Joson, but the front office ruined my experience. It would be nice if they had a check-in kiosk so I wouldn't have to deal with the front office. read more

Wow! Talk about horrible service I called 3x and was hung up on before I could even talk to someone. When I Finally got a hold of someone I asked if there was something going on with their phone systems the girl proceeded to tell me they had a lot of calls and they're really busy. No apology, nothing. I then asked okay are you able to help me and she goes well we're on the phone aren't we? I then told her well I asked because you said you were busy. She then goes okay so what are we helping you with. Entire conversation was abrasive and rude. I miss dr. Sherman. She tried not giving me her name and immediately transferring me over to someone else and then goes well no one else is available so I'll setup your appointment. Horrible service Sophia. read more

Dr Nuthi is amazing. A few years ago I was referred to her for a torn retina and an explosion of floaters. She repaired the tear with laser surgery, and it's still holding. What a relief. She is professional, kind, and takes time to explain everything. She is now one of my favorite doctors and I feel so lucky to have been referred to her. read more

The quality of service was good. The medical staff were very friendly. The receptionist was not so much. I have really good eye/medical coverage. My issue was the separate fee for the contact fitting/exam. I understand that this is a common charge in most offices. However, never in my years of wearing contacts have I encountered a fee so high. I ended up declining this, as the price for a new patient, who uses multi focal lenses, was $260 or $280 (can't remember, which). I take responsibility for not asking upfront, but I feel this should be disclosed during the intake appointment over the phone since it's pretty significant. read more

Terrible office experience, Unprofessional Was kept waiting 45 min and when I complained I was told they needed to verify the VA would pay before I was seen - even though tri west made the appt referral, .. and why not do this before my appointment, or at the time it was booked or anything other than keep me waiting wasting my time while making me feel second class using VA healthcare coverage(?) Type of care received was a full exam and the quality of the exam by the OPT was good but I would not recommend this business due to front office issues. read more

I was there for computer eye glass check. I had my usual excellent experience with Dr Ring, his intern and Sandy. But while was sitting there waiting for Sandy to come back with my credit card a blonde women came sat in front of me and started in on her spiel asking me all sorts of questions until I had to ask HER name! Didn't even hear it because I felt like she was very aggressive. She kept going on with her spiel then FINALLY realized she had the wrong Hispanic woman!! I think the introduction at the beginning would have taken care of everything. Please know your audience and your patients! read more

Each doctor has a speciality. My whole family comes here for different eye concerns and we are all happy with all the doctors we've seen. Tayani Institute - Front offoce - Ophthalmologists Near Me - Oceanside, California

I was referred to this office from another eye office after their optometrist recommended that I be evaluated for glaucoma and surgery for cataracts. Dr. Tayani's office contacted me quickly and offered an appointment on the same day! I was seen promptly by Dr. Tayani and after his exam, he reassured me that I am not at excessive risk for glaucoma and that I would not need cataract surgery any time soon. That was an obvious relief. He did offer to do the rest of a complete eye exam as long as I was there and that involved dilating my eyes. I did have to wait quite a while for that portion of the visit but as I was a work-in, I really wouldn't complain. Dr. Tayani was thorough and answered my questions. His staff was friendly and, for the most part, efficient. Incidentally , I have a Medicare Advantage Plan (Scan) and felt that I was treated well with the same quality of care that I received in the past when I had employee health insurance. First impression was the ease is scheduling my appointment. Second impression was the decor of the office. It is like walking into a luxury spa. The office staff was friendly. I had about a 15 minute wait to get in for my appointment. My exam was not rushed. Care was taken in getting my prescription right. It was checked 3 times. I was given options about the exam. A tremendous shout out for Sherry who helped with the selection of my frames, explained the lens types, etc. She spent time with me. Very knowledgeable, professional while personal and friendly. Went in with itchy eyes to see dr. Guck and was greeted by the tech tyler, he was very professional given his young age and very personable. The overall atmosphere made going to get an eye exam easy and quick. Dr. Guck was excellent and gave me multiple solutions to get my eyes back to normal! I am reposting the exact same review I did on Dr. Tayani's first YELP account in case you came to this second account instead. I've waited a long time to write this as I was so traumatized by my experience with Dr. Tayani. I booked an appointment with him after he bought Dr. Sally Mellgren's practice thinking I would receive the same level of excellent care. To make a long story short Dr. Tayani made a lot of mistakes with my eyes. He put in the wrong lense during my cataract surgery giving me monivision and actually admitted it. He argued that it was a good thing but that is not what I wanted. He gave me a free pair of glasses to compensate. I had to go to another Eye Center to replace the lens for me because there was no way I was going to let him do any more surgery on my eyes. Prior to this he also did an operation to help my tear ducts hold tears and it was so painful but he had no empathy. There was nothing to help the pain for the needle. Lastly he tried to upsell me to do laser surgery on my face! What?! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Please look at his other YELP account and you will see mostly mediocre ratings which may be why he started another one. read more

Everything about this place is horrible! Two hours before my appointment time I got a phone call from their office staff saying they needed to cancel my appointment because they were sending the doctor to their San Clemente office instead and cancelling all Oceanside office appointments. They were able to find another appointment for the next day. I waited 30 minutes after my appointment time to be called back to the exam room. I then waited another 40 minutes in the exam room. The door was shut and suddenly it was thrown open and a woman walked in and rudely said to me "you need to keep your mask on the ENTIRE time you are here" Let me clarify...NEVER at any point was my mask off or even below my nose. I was wearing it properly even while sitting alone in the exam room. I'm only guessing that perhaps when she startled me by aggressively flinging the door open that she saw me touch my mask. After she yells at me about my mask she then rummaged through some drawers and then walked out. I thought surely she couldn't have been the doctor with such an unfriendly and unprofessional attitude. Unfortunately I was wrong and just a few minutes later she re-entered the room and introduced herself as Dr. Asha Nuthi. During the entire appointment she was rude, condescending, rushed and overall crass. She would ask me a question and then cut me off before I was able to answer. She used a condescending tone when speaking to me about my issues. She seemed disinterested in what I was telling her and made several assumptions about my issues without hearing the whole story. After my appointment I was sent to the front desk to check out where I waited another 15 minutes for the receptionist to figure out how to use the printer. She seemed confused about how to do many functions of her job and took an excessively long time doing each task. A slow receptionist is one thing, but a rude, condescending, disrespectful doctor is above all, the main reason why I will never go back and why I would not recommend this place. read more
