I've been a client for several years, but I had never seen Dr. Spaeth until an issue come up in March. I thought I received incorrect contact lenses, I was having blurriness in my vision. Dr. Spaeth conducted a thorough exam and then took "MRI"-like images of my retina. He diagnosed a macular hole. He referred me to a retina specialist and within a month I had retinal surgery. I had a follow up appointment with Dr. Spaeth on Saturday of labor day weekend. The vision in my bad eye is corrected to 20/30ish. Dr. Spaeth reiterated that we addressed the macular hole at the ideal time for maximum effectiveness. If Dr. Spaeth didn't have the piece of equipment, the macular hole might have progressed to blindness. I am very grateful for his thoroughness, caring, and the sophistication of his practice. We just switched to Ocean Ranch Optometry after being with our old optometrist for years and we couldn't be happier! We live nearby and my husband would ask to have his glasses adjusted here even though we were not patients. They assistants always agreed, we're incredibly friendly and never accepted any payment. So, this year, my son and I made our appointments here and Dr. Spaeth exceeded our expectations! First, this office has state of the art instruments to guarantee a perfect prescription. Second, Dr. Spaeth recommended a progressive lens for me that was a great improvement to what I was wearing for years! Third, the options available for frames were incredible! I highly recommend Dr. Spaeth - it's due to him that after many years of deteriorating vision I now see 20/20. I have a degenerative corneal condition with astigmatism that severely distorts my vision. In 2012 my cornea specialist at UC Irvine (one of the top ophthalmologists in the country) referred me to Dr. Spaeth as the best optometrist he knows to prescribe and fit me with eyeglasses. Dr. Spaeth worked with me patiently over the years constantly tweaking my eyeglass prescription as my vision continued to fluctuate and deteriorate. By 2018, he was barely able to get me a prescription that would allow me to pass the DMV vision test and suggested I ask my cornea specialist to allow him to fit me for scleral contact lenses saying "I can get you to 20/20". I was fitted for scleral lenses in 2019 and have been seeing 20/20 ever since. Dr. Spaeth has continued to provide me great service even after I moved from CA to the east coast - I truly miss him and the staff at Ocean Ranch Optometry! read more

Dr. Spaeth is very kind and understanding. He has been our eye doctor for many years and we love to recommend him and his entire staff! The office is gorgeous and always decorated so beautifully for each given time of year and they even taught me how to use contacts at the age of 50, ugh. My daughter is a patient as well and has much more serious vision issues and they have always been there for us! They have often offered free samples because my daughter tends to run out of her contacts very suddenly, so they have been lifesavers in that department as well.
