This was a fantastic date spot due to the gorgeous ocean view and fancy decor/vibe! This restaurant is located within a venue space used for weddings and graduations etc, so the price is up there. It was a hot summer day when we went, and we were lucky to get a spot on the outdoor deck upstairs that had shade. The drinks were good, and the food was cooked well. Portion sizes were lacking given the price point, though the presentation was nice. Again, this is a wedding venue. There isn't much to do in this area other than a few waterside restaurants and private beaches, so I'm not sure I would come back unless I'm looking to spend some time gazing at the view and having some drinks with friends or a significant other. read more

When we went to check in he had a smile on his face and had us seated immediately. Kelly was our server and couldn't have done a better job. Her menu recommendations were spot on and we even needed extra care because our son-in-law has celiac disease (severe gluten allergy) and she double checked to make sure that everything that we ordered would be safe for him to eat. Summertime means Mr. Lee is back! Hands down the best sushi on Long Island! You don't need a reservation to sit at the sushi bar. You can sit at the sushi bar or at a table around it. Okay, so I see this restaurant has an average of three stars but we definitely had a great experience that I would like to share. We had came from my brothers birthday and had asked to sit outside. Originally we were told it would be an hour wait but for whatever reason we were seated within the next 15 minutes. We had ordered oysters, calamari, steamed mussels and four entrées lobster, and a tuna roll, and everything tasted so fresh! Drinks - because you can't forget that.., every single drink that we had ordered was delicious! We had the rack of lamb and burrata for apps (both delicious) and he had the house special which was a really great swordfish (delicious) with wild rice and couscous and I had the lobster roll (which was good, could have been better) and then had the strawberry shortcake (which was just whipped cream strawberries and a biscuit, did not really love). There was a wedding so we weren't able to go downstairs by the beach area but had a lovely time nonetheless. View and place is great. The food is OK but not bad. The hostess tells us that she will seat us at time of our reservation and we can go upstairs and have a drink while we wait. While we wait for 5 minutes? No thanks. First of all, we live very close to Ocean and haven't been there for years, but "Big Mistake...BIG". We had the best time tonight, with incredibly fresh sushi/seafood and impeccable service! Emily, our server, was absolutely AMAZING! She and her partner( a young lady studying law at Stoneybrook U.-missed her name) made sure our dining experience was flawless! We had stopped going to Ocean a few years back when the service and attitude was " so-so" and the customer was more like an annoyance than a guest, but that has definitely changed. Maybe after seeing the view, my expectations were little too high. Their signature drink seems to be "Piña colada", "Watermelon Martini" and "Strawberry Lemon Moscow Mule" as a lot of people were ordering those 3 drinks - and my favorite was Piña colada. A friend of mine showed me a social media post for Ocean. The view looked so great we had to try it. Thankfully, it was equidistant from each of us and therefore the perfect spot to meet up. The drive leading to the place is a pleasant one and the parking lot on the premises is a big plus. The menu was really wide ranging and the food was good. We had the Cajun chicken sandwich, shrimp tacos, calamari etc. No complaints here it was all pretty solid. We had a pair of drinks as well. Some of the reviews mention how expensive they were but being from NYC I didn't feel the prices were out of the norm. The truth is you're probably paying a little bit of a premium for the view/experience. The restaurant requires reservations and limits time at each table to 90 minutes as part of their COVID19 precautions. In addition, our server did wear a mask. The tables themselves were spread out the requisite 6 Ft. on the outdoor deck but with the configuration we sat in, diners do end up sitting back to back within a 6 Ft. bubble (i.e. closer than 6Ft). I'm not sure how they can adjust the table configuration to fix this flaw. It helps that you're in the open air but I was thinking about it the whole time. We stayed for several hours past lunch time but since it wasn't crazy busy our server was gracious enough to let us hang out a little bit. I wish I remembered her name. She deserves special mention (she had curly blonde hair). We asked whether or not we could check out the seating on the beach but were told that the area was reserved for special events for groups (huge bummer)! If I had to boil this review down to a few lines I would say the place deserves a visit but mostly for the view and the service. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The food was terrible, service was terrible, the only thing I could enjoy was the view. The staff ran around like chickens accomplishing nothing. Our waitress looked miserable the entire time and was never around when we needed her. They were out of half the things we tried to order. The raw clams and oysters were tiny and didn't look appetizing. They were served without hot sauce, horseradish, and lemons. Our entrees came out ten minutes apart so we couldn't even eat together. My boyfriend got a different side than what he asked for. My sushi was inedible and I honestly think it was imitation crab meat. I sat with an empty glass of wine for about 15 minutes before the server even realized. I asked the waitress for change of $10 to tip the valet and she told me couldn't find change. The live music was horrible and could have been confused with seagulls screaming. All in all I will not be back. This place is run horribly! read more
