This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is always good. I wanted to order the Grouper that was the special, but they did not have it. I ended up getting the branzino which was decent. When we got to the restaurant we did not have a reservation and they said 30 minutes. I usually do make a reservation, but it was a last minute decision to go. When I looked on Open Table it said there was a reservation in 5 minutes so I booked that and we were seated quickly vs having to wait. read more

This place was really good and relatively inexpensive! I ordered a Paloma and a wood fired cheese pizza! The Paloma was extremely delicious and fresh! The cheese pizza was huge for the price, I really enjoyed the crust and cheese to sauce ratio. Recommend for a beach side bar within a strip of stores! We had a lousy server here. He took our orders, brought our drinks, and then rarely came back to see if we needed anything. When he did come back, he didn't take anything off the table (empty glasses or plates), and when we actually asked for something, he apparently forgot and we didn't receive it. The support staff (busboy? or whatever the PC term is for that role) was infinitely better than the server though, and made up for some of his shortcomings. We ended up tipping the busboy instead of the server. ha The food itself was good, although we probably would have enjoyed ourselves more anywhere else due to the poor service. read more

Ocean 302 is a great restaurant with wonderful service and delicious food! The perfect location if you're looking for a casual weeknight or even a birthday dinner. Some options are more pricey, but the quality of food is definitely worth it. Also, the names for the dishes are absolutely genius, we loved it! Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. She provides us with so many recommendations and we decided on the Kona Calamari, Flower Power, and the Bruschetta for appetizers. Absolutely delicious! Especially the Flower Power which is Buffalo Cauliflower with melted Blue Cheese. It was my favorite thing on the menu! For the main course, I chose the Smashing Brick Chicken. Delicious!! Crispy chicken with potatoes and vegetables, served with a lemon sauce. I wish there was more sauce but thankfully our server was able to get us more from the kitchen. It did take awhile for some of our food to come out but overall, it was a wonderful experience! Ocean 302 is a great beachside restaurant with great food! Though we did have to wait for our food for awhile and it was a tad pricey, it's definitely a great location. I look forward to coming back to get the Flower Power again and try some other options soon! read more

We go here most Friday nights for happy hour in the bar area Duck wings and pizza's are very good. Craft beers only 5 dollars and top shelf liquors very well priced. Hamburger is excellent but grilled chicken leaves a little bit to be desired. read more

We had a horrible experience with this place today. We came in at 7:30 PM for our dinner reservation to celebrate our daughter's graduation and we didn't get our orders (burgers and pasta) until 8:55pm! The food wasn't even that great. My fries were stale and my daughter's MIL's mashed potato was cold probably from sitting out too long. Our server Jamie was very apologetic and she got us a huge discount which was nice and we are grateful but the long wait ruined our celebratory mood and my appetite! Just a warning, don't go if the place is packed because the kitchen can't handle the orders in a timely manner. A reservation doesn't make a difference! read more

Wanted to try something new when we were in town so we walked down to Ocean 302 for and early dinner. We were seated around 5:50PM and our waitress quickly let us know that their were about 10 minutes left in happy hour which is everyday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. I ordered a Margarita ($5) we also ordered 2 appetizers which were $2 off during hour happy. We went with the Squidacular and the Fungi Brushetta. Our drinks and appetizers quickly came out and all were very good. I ended up liking the Fungi Brushette a lot more then I thought I would as well. For my entree I ordered the Chippy Chippy Bang Bang which is their take of fish and chips. I came with a large piece of beer battered white fish, fries, onion rings, and street corn! I know what more could you ask for. My food quickly came out and everything looked great. I was a big fan of of the bang bang sauce that it came with. It was more of a Cajun Tartar Sauce which I liked since it had a nice kick. Our waitress even got me more of it when I asked. I also tried Ashley's Shorty's Pasta which tasted great and fresh so don't sleep on the pasta. All and all very good dinner with fair prices and very good service from the wait staff. I had the scallops which were undercooked, the smoky cheese grits were over cooked and mushy, there was zero texture to the dish all mush. And it was $50.00 which was very overpriced for 4 scallops. Very disappointing. The service was great and the ambiance was good. read more

This restaurant was a drive for us from Cocoa Beach to Melbourne Beach, but it was my birthday and I wanted to try it. It's definitely a locals' hangout spot as the bar was busier than the dining area, but as it got later, the tables filled up, including 2 parties of 8 (including 1 of my former students!). The hostesses were fabulous! They opened the door for mom, my hubby, and me which helped her get her walker inside. They acknowledged our reservation and said happy birthday then sat us at a very comfortable booth - we had a choice of table or booth but the booth was a corner with chairs and a banquette and room to park moms walker out of the way. Craft cocktails were yummy- I had the pear-fect martini and hubby had his old fashioned. We decided to share the Mahi cheeks appetizer, and mom had the clam chowder. Both were excellent with a light crispy crust on the fish, and both were so generously portioned that I really felt we could have stopped there. But the special was a 44 oz tomahawk for 2, so we decided to share, while mom ordered fish and chips. We had enough leftovers for 2 more meals! The huge piece of fish was perfectly cooked, flaky and moist inside a crisp golden batter. Served with slaw and fries. The steak was cooked medium rare, maybe a bit to the rare side which was fine for my husband, as he likes his steaks "moo-vine!" There was more than enough for me and I figured we'd cook it a bit more when we ate the next day. The veggies were not done thoughtless gloop- roasted Brussels sprouts were the best I've ever had and cooked just right, crisp tender and flavorful. The Parmesan truffle fries were delicious but we even had enough of those to take home! The dessert offerings were a disappointment- albeit none of us had room, but it was my birthday after all! But it featured 5 cakes and key lime pie! So we happily went on our merry way home, pleased with my birthday choice on thus monumental retirement year. Great service, priced right, great drinks. Hostesses saw us out - okay, so the manager/hostess was one of my favorite former students and I did leave with another hug! Great job, everyone! Very interesting restaurant, the food and the ambiance did not mesh in my opinion. The food and dining experience is more upscale where the atmosphere and decor is more casual. I would like to say our waiter for tonight was exceptional, regrettably we forgot to have him remind us of his name. Though it's not listed as an appetizer, we ordered the [wedge salad] for our starter. I'm not normally a fan of blue cheese dressing but you can really tell that it is made in-restaurant versus coming from a bottle. The bacon was perfectly cooked and cut into nice big pieces accompanied by blue cheese crumbles. Very very good! The [airline chicken] was incredible. The bed of risotto alone had so much flavor. The chicken was cooked perfectly, it was perfectly crispy and flavorful on the outside as well as it was not dry on the inside. The [filet mignon] is where there was a little bit of a disconnect for me. The market price right now for this approximate 6-8oz steak dish is $45. So, with that being said you would expect a "dang near" perfect steak. The steak was ordered medium-rare and was served much over cooked. But with our waiter to save the day he asked how things were, and took the steak back immediately to be remade. A second steak was brought out at the correct temperature, however it had minimal flavor. All a good steak needs is some salt/pepper and butter to taste, but this steak came lacking, unfortunately. The sides that came with this dish were all very good, but with the steak being the star of the show we just expected a little more for the price. To end the show we had the [Belgian chocolate cheesecake] and it was absolutely amazing as well! Very rich, you can taste very clearly all the different chocolates that were used for this dessert. Hidden in a strip mall, Ocean 302 is a gem located in Melbourne Beach. We came for dinner last night and were surprised at how big the restaurant was full of patrons which reservation is highly recommended. The menu has fresh, local, and interesting choices from small bites to full dinner entrée options. We began with Spinach & Artichoke Boule (Fire Roasted Artichoke, Baby Spinach, Mascarpone, Parmesan, Herbed Feta, Sourdough Boule Loaf) as an appetizer. For our entrees, we got Skirt Steak (Char-Grilled, Marinated, Yuca Fries, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Cherry Tomato Chimichurri and the Airline Chicken Breast (Pan-Seared, Crispy Skin-On, Buttery Mashed Potatoes, Chefs Vegetables, Lemon Pan Sauce). This local business pulled out all the stops to support an amazing cause! These are the kind of business that I love to boost ! If I could give 10 stars I would Our table started with the French onion soup, breakin bread, and R+Brie. All three were amazing with great flavor. (Ps this was the best French onion soup I've ever had) Main dishes we ordered shorty's pasta, 302 burger, and bleu burger. All three were amazing, according to my fellow diners this was the best burger they've ever had and my pasta was amazing with a giant portion of short rib and pasta. The cocktails were great and very creative, the service from Veronica was impeccable and it was nice to talk with the owner mike who got to know our table on a personal level. What a complete turn,... it was a great place and now I'm not so sure. Atomophere is still the best I've found in Melbourne! Waiter we had seemed subpar compared to the others. 5 wait staff and about 14 tables. There were different folks serving the food and bussing the tables. I expected more from my waiter. He was always polite, but barely around and not looking to exceed expectations. .... first gin and tonic was completely flat , second there were little bits floating in the drink ! The waiter handled it fine, but as if it was no big deal. I thought about just leaving, but decided to stay and see if the food made my assessment better! The food looked good , but was fairly underwhelming. Fries were good but greasy, the burger was ok , but not super flavorful and my partners holy guacamole had some odd chicken thigh type meat in the sandwich . Just tasted weird. Nice place - went after reading Yelp reviews. Good range of selections on the wine list. Shrimp Risotto, Atlantic Char, French Onion soup, Duck Fat Fries - all excellent! Other couple ordered Fish and Chips and had to send them back. Way undercooked on the inside - oil possibly way too hot as the crust was perfect. Waitress handled it well - offered something else. They split a Filet that was a perfect medium-rare and nicely presented. Mentioned to the waitress that we were celebrating a Birthday. She wished us well but did not bring anything for the Birthday girl - despite the fact that the table behind us, also celebrating a Birthday, received a dessert. Tacky and disappointing. My wife and I breezed into Ocean 302 one evening while we were in the area, and we really enjoyed it. The place was slammed, but the wait staff and the manager were all relaxed and happy and they managed to handle everyone with professional efficiency and demeanor. We're from the salmon eating end of the Continent where we eat Alaskan King and Copper River fresh, but I was intrigued by the menu offering of Faroe Island Salmon flown in to Florida. Thinking I might be disappointed but encouraged by the quality of the appetizers and drinks, I went for it. It was stunning. It was like Copper River in texture and oil content, but it had a distinct flavor all it is own, having lived wild in the North Atlantic and having been spawned in the reds of the Faroes. Call it a terrior sort of thing. My wife had a Brussel sprout dish that was amazing. A chocolate dessert that blew us right out of our seats completed the meal. We decided we'd be back, so we returned, with friends, the next night. Same story. Ocean 302 is epic. read more
