About a week ago, I purchased a used Sony A6400, but ended up having a change of heart and decided to return it. I was expecting at least some hassle or a restocking fee--but they gave me a full refund, no questions asked. What really blew me away, though, was their honesty. I ended up switching to a Fujifilm model, and the staff member let me know that another shop back east was running a $500 discount on it--and then matched that deal for me on the spot. I had no idea about the promotion, and they easily could have charged full price. I still would have been happy based on the return experience alone. Friendly staff? Check. Great customer service? Check. But that level of honesty and integrity is something you just don't see anymore. That's what sets this place apart. You really can't put a price on that kind of trust. Also received a Nikonos V, and wanted to have a better understanding of the camera. I called over the weekend to ask about selling a film camera and was told to come in on Monday. I specifically called ahead because I live about 50 minutes away and wanted to make sure someone would be available to help me. After making the drive, I was told that the person who handles camera purchases had been out for a week. Unfortunately, the employee at the front desk was dismissive rather than empathetic about the situation. It was frustrating to make such a long trip based on the information I was given, and the lack of communication and customer service left me with an experience that doesn't make me want to return. read more

Here to accompany my GF while she had her camera cleaned . I was perusing in the store admiring their camera collections, I stumbled upon a gentleman in a room repairing a camera . I believe his name is Ken , he greeted me with his wonderful smile and asked if I needed some help with anything. Ken and the 2 other employees ( wish I remembered their names . They gave me some great advice and recommendations in regards to purchasing a camera for my daughter who shows an interest in photography. We came back a few hours later after lunch to pick up my girlfriend's camera . We were surprised and grateful the owner did not charge my friend for the cleaning fee . As discussed earlier with ken and the other 2 employees , my friend's camera has a black dot in the lens and with further inspection a simple cleaning will not help. They suggested a few options to fix the issue, my GF decided to come back another day and bring the rest of the camera parts to do a trade with another camera she has her eyes on. We received knowledgeable service by everyone here, their honesty and advice was appreciated and definitely recommend OC camera to anyone looking to trade , purchase or cleaning service with anything photography related merchandise. For a business that had no customers and is probably struggling against online competition, you would think the customer service would be better. I went in asking for a product and was essentially told by one of the guys behind the desk as he barely looked up at me and continued what he was working on that it was a stupid product to use and that's why they didn't offer it. I get that it wasn't the ideal solution, but people have been using them for decades and I personally have never had an issue. I was looking for a lenspen btw. And no alternative was offered that they do carry. I was made to feel ignorant for asking for one and I've been a photographer for over 20 years using one the whole time. read more

OC Camera has invested in a new location and within those new digs has upgraded the shop to a full spectrum of new and superb equipment while retaining a diverse and interesting pre-owned inventory. The most recent change is the addition of a Leica Boutique where the finest cameras are displayed in a dedicated room containing paneled hardwood display case that show the intricate elegance of Leica cameras and lenses. It would be hard not to be a leica fan after seeing the equiplment displayed in this fashion! Also the shop has installed a gallery for exhibits of excellent local SoCal artists, and a studio large enough to photograph automobiles. It's great to have a camera shop in the neighborhood. OC Camera has a lot to offer - many camera bodies (film and digital), lenses, film, gear... they are well-stocked. Check out their website to see just how much they have, which is great! They also sell some prints and wooden models of cameras, which is a nice touch. Customer service isn't the best - this is a pretty no-frills sort of place. I asked for a hot shoe adapter for a flash unit on an old film camera and was shown a few that were haphazardly tossed onto a countertop. I asked the price and was told they were all the same, but that didn't really help me until I asked again. But they had it and it works well on my camera body, so no complaints about the quality. Dropped off 2 lenses to have filters cut off as they were stuck after dropping my camera bag. I had someone pick up the lenses for me and when I got them, one of the lenses was not seated correctly in the barrel and was very loose. It wasn't like this when I dropped off the lens. Roozbeh took the lenses examined it and wrote an estimate to remove the filters. When I called Roozbeh, he said they tested the lenses and they both "worked perfectly" and that I obviously caused the problem by dropping the lens (which was in my bag at the time so there was no other damage aside from the filter being stuck). I told Roozbeh that if the lens was quite noticeably very loose in the barrel when I dropped it off, he and I would have clearly noticed and he should have noted it on the estimate as a body repair shop does when you crash your car. Roozbeh was extremely rude and dismissive and kept cutting me off by saying repeatedly that I dropped the lens and it was my fault. I became angry with his accusatory rhetoric and tone andI told him we were going to have a problem if he didn't fix it. He hung up on me. Later I sent Roozbeh an email reiterating the above and his response was the same. And asked him to "do the right thing and pay for the damage. His response was: "You dropped your lenses. All I did was remove the filters. We did not damage your lenses. We are not accepting liability for the damage you caused when you dropped the lenses. We will not cover any repair expenses. Any damage that was caused, was caused by you dropping your lenses." 1) The barrel of the lens was NOT loose and noticeably wobbly when I dropped it off. 2) Roozbeh said nothing and noted nothing on the estimate, nor did he suggest that there was an issue with the barrel being very loose neither when I dropped it off, during the time he had the lense, or when he returned the lens. 3) Roozbeh had the lens for 5 days and when it was picked up, again he stated the he tested the both lenses and they worked "perfectly". 4) He couldn't possibly have tested this lens with the barrel wobbling as it was and determine it was "working perfectly". First of all this place has everything. You want the newest gear they got it, you want vintage they got it, bags accessories etc they got it. Now I know you can get all of that elsewhere if you tried, but what you will never get is a place that caters to the photographers soul. These guys came through 4 times on a lens that was so extremely hard to get! The wait for a Tamron 35-150 was months long. I put my name on the list and I got that call saying they got it. Not only was I able to get 4 of those lenses, I picked up a Sony A7iv that was also a bit hard to get. I'm thankful that they also give a nice warranty on the lens which I have to use on 1 of them as the focusing is an issue. I hope they remedy this. I will update read more

my first visit here. very cool store. i went in to see if i could sell some old film cameras. none of them were up to par which is understandable. don't know what was in the air but owner Roozbeh was not a polite person. his new hire greeted me and was very kind. i came in at a rush which was just 4 people in line. new hire asked me if i can wait for Roozbeh to look at my cameras. he rejected them all due to broken parts & after looking at the models he doesn't take, i asked him if he can check if they work. he was completely rude and said "i'm not doing this right now" after looking at the first two but didn't want to continue on the third which was leaking? i basically asked if i can get help and he simply said no in the rudest way. not really sure is that is excellent customer service. he could have simply been more kind. read more

Went in to get my camera repaired, they don't do the repairs in house and send everything out. Employees are rude and argued about what was wrong with the camera. While this place has a great selection of photography equipment; the customer service is lacking... I've bought gear from OC Camera numerous times over 2022. Each time I would encounter the same 3 employees; and each time they all seemed uninterested in helping me. They also assume that I know nothing about photography; even though I'm a full-time professional photographer. It's also a bummer that they don't remember who I am; even though I've been there so many times and have spent quite a bit of money there haha It's also strange how they've treated my girlfriend here. Every time we've gone to OC camera for film; they only address me while we're in the shop and don't discuss sales / gear with her at all. The funny part about that is my girlfriend knows much more about film than I do and has been shooting film longer than me lol All in all; I like the products from OC camera and will continue to shop here, but don't expect to get the best service while shopping read more

I brought a couple of digital bodies in to the shop to ask why my sensor cleaning technique was resulting in streaks on my sensors. It turns out that the fluid I bought on Amazon was the cause; I was shown the difference with the fluid that the shop uses (Eclipse brand) and it's very obvious! I purchased a bottle of their preferred fluid and they cleaned my sensors for free in the process. Great customer service, I will be back! read more
