Delicious!!! I was after some real cicchetti & it doesn't get better than this outside of Italy. Fresh, delicious and most are reasonably priced. Our service was polite, helpful and knowledgeable. It was funny to learn she'd only recently started. Well done!! Was shown promptly to our table where everything was tidy and clean. This is important in these COVID times. I have passed this place a thousand times on my way to work, as it's situated in a transitional building between the central Canary Wharf and the bridge to the south side, and I swear I never thought it would be THAT good!!! Main reason for my 'up till now prejudice' was the disgusting odour of cheese waste floating in the air every time I passed by and although I am a big cheese lover - it gave me nausea. Now, I am so grateful to have dined there!! Let me tell you why: The restaurant doesn't show it's hidden gem to the public much and the hidden gem is the inside of the square in which the restaurant is situated. I was so pleasantly surprised to find myself in a romantic, warm and elegant atmosphere which I totally did not expect. Candles, warmth, waiting staff speaking with an Italian accent - I automatically felt relaxed and the cheese waste odour was not there at all... The wine was of excellent quality and the dishes involved the restaurant's speciality mozzarella ( in various editions - mild, smoked or creamy) with grilled vegetables, fish or meat and variety of slow foods including local Italian meats and bread. And the pizza with Italian mushrooms and truffles ( save my soul) had a generous amount of mushroom and REAL truffles on top of it!!! The pizza itself was amazingly well made with perfectly baked edges.. I was so pleased with this place. Fantastic small Italian restaurant inside a office building in Canary Wharf. The mozzarela is made fresh on premises and it is the best one I have ever had! The pizza is Neapolitan style so the crust not that crispy but it tastes really good. Ingredients are locally sourced, organic and very fresh. If I worked on this office daily it would be my place to eat. The sandwiches are very good but not as great as you would find in Italy, but still a great option! read more

After trying Obika in Florence, we were very excited to try one of the London locations. We went with the spicy salami pizza and were a bit confused as there did not appear to be any salami slices on the pizza. Either the waitress did not understand us or she said it was spreadable salami. A bit confused, we enjoyed the pizza anyway. This review is based solely on our experience with the "supervisor". I do want to add the bar staff and waitress are not reflected in this review. However, it truly was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at any restaurant establishment. Obviously these are extremely harsh words, but do not compare to how I and my girlfriend were treated at this place while traveling through Europe on our vacation. We did not get a chance to dine here to try what did look like decent place to eat. The "Supervisor" of this establishment was the rudest most unprofessional human being I have ever met. Not sure yet if we were treated so harshly for being a foreigner/ minority or what. After being seated and ordering a couple drinks and meals from our waitress, we were belittled and scolded by the supervisor for being seated side by side on a bench while the restaurant was practically empty. Why? Because we were taking up too much space. I can understand if the place was busy, but apart from ourselves there was literally 6 other people in the restaurant. After being treated like the scum of the earth we decided to leave from this horrendous place before ever receiving our drinks. I feel bad for the other workers who have to put up with this egotistical low life. If you don't know how to communicate with other human beings don't work in the service industry. I have left out some details to keep this as short as possible. But when even the other workers and the people eating there saw how incredibly rude this person had treated us and apologized for the their actions. It tells you were clearly we clearly had not anything wrong. I hope to god the owner of the restaurant sees this review and fires this poor excuse of a man. Until this guy is gone, don't bother wasting you money here. It is truly unfortunate we had to put up with such an insulting person when we were so excited and literally made a point the night before to try this place. I met a friend for lunch here when we only had about 40 minutes to eat, catch up and gossip before the next meeting. I laughed when the waiter handed us a wine menu: "I think the 80s are over!" I joked. (I do like to live dangerously...) The place itself looks like someone got a restaurant and put it in the middle of a large entrance hall. It feels like it is built with a floor and four walls, but no roof. It doesn't really matter, apart from being just a touch cold and echoey. The big attraction here is the pasta and the mozzarella. I have had the pasta before (faultless) but today I was feeling like I needed some green stuff, so I went for the grilled vegetables and some burrata (creamy mozzarella in essence). It was lovely. A plate full (really full, it was very generous) of courgette, pepper and aubergine. The buratta also came with a couple of tomatoes and olives which were really tasty. It is pretty pricey - over £10 for what is basically a mozarella salad, but it was good, fresh food. The service could be warmer as could the physical place! I will go back, but mainly because of the convenience. It was quick though - we managed to talk non stop for 40 minutes and were out of there pronto! read more

Ohhhh it was some delicious stuff. For starters we had pizza (I know, right...), smoked burrata and burrata with truffles & artichokes. The latter was definitely a win. For the main I had the Bresaola and it was definitely another win. Everything was great about this pizza - it was relatively light - as light as pizza can be - and it had enough toppings, too. I find that in posh-er pizza places they only give you a sniff of toppings - but Obica had the good amount! For dessert I decided to go for Obica trio - and the pear cheesecake was yet another win. It was light, creamy, buttery -- heavenly! Don't have the brownie though - it wasn't that good at all. Tiramisu was good, too, but cheesecake was another level good. Service was friendly and quick. The only thing I didn't like is the location, but you get distracted by the good pizza quickly and forget about that :) read more

This r view is solely based on the following: they offer a traditional pizza that lists: tomato sauce, mozzarella and basil. The pizza arrives and is soggy and wet in the middle. The gobs of cheese are still ice cold in parts. One in the middle of it is one tiny basil leaf. When I ask the waiter where the basil is he points at it and States it's garnish. I then noted that the pizza is advertised as a basil pizza and I even asked to be sure it was fresh basil before I ordered. Food is generally quite good but the take-away counter has gone downhill. Pasta dishes (served warm to take away) are still the same price as before but now portions are measured out by the noodle. (My server was forced to take back 3 to get the portion under the weight limit) Apparently a new weight limit has been imposed which leaves the container half-full and the customer hungry. Why not just use smaller containers - then at least I'll know what I'm getting beforehand. This just left me feeling nickel and dimed. Happy to recommend them for lunch but steer clear of the take-way. You'll get much better value at Carlucci's across the street. read more

Someone needs to explain to me why this restaurant is called Obika, which sounds Japanese but it's really Italian. Anyway, came here for Friday after work drinks, which quickly turned into a few nibbles as well. It was kind of yin and yang with the service. When I first got there at 7, my 3 friends were at a 2 person table because the waiter wouldn't let them have their drinks at the 4 person table reserved for 8:30 pm, which seems a bit odd to me. So we just had to pull up some chairs and sit in the walkway, and they somehow preferred that even though it was a big pain to everyone who had to walk around. After a few drinks, we wanted some food so we ordered the antipasto board to share. Then they became nice and brought us a pesto & mozzarella taster, and we got a much nicer waiter who didn't take 10 minutes to flag down every time like the first one. They do charge you for the bread, which is a little too bad for an Italian restaurant (I expect it free!) Another thing is that the wine glass they gave me for my chardonnay was just much too big, almost to the point where it was bulky and difficult to drink out of. Perfect place in the Wharf for a relaxed after work glass of wine. There's always a place to sit, it doesn't get too crowded or too loud (so it's perfect for conversation) and they serve a small complimentary platter with cheese, meat and breadstick with your drink - how lovely! I've only had a meal here once and got a pizza with speck and mozzarella di bufala and it was good. Nice thin crust and a good amount of cheese and meat. Not the best pizza I've had, but good enough. Varied menu but the mozzarella is the star. We ordered the selection/tasting plate for 5 of us with a mixture of the mozzarella Classico, fresca, affumicata and burrata. Mozzarella has never tasted this good. Probably explained by the fact they fly it in fresh 3 times a week! The food was excellent and well-presented. Drink service was a little slow but overall a very enjoyable lunch. There was a mix up over the bill but it was sorted out quickly and without fuss. The Sparks martini made up for the still looming jet-lag from earlier in the week. Most of my colleagues had full meals which looked delicious (pizza with mozzarella you could taste with your eyeballs; pasta; and more pasta), but I went for the side dishes. San Daniele Ham had a deliciously silky texture and the Grilled Artichokes in olive oil were more memorable than my first kiss with a HS girlfriend--and she was quite a kisser.
