I did not expect the pizza to be THIS good. I think Pizza Pilgrims is probably the best pizza I have had in London so far. Walked into this super cute shop in Canary Wharf. Was a little bit disappointed to learn that it was a chain but the pizza was absolutely amazing and assuaged my fears of chain restaurants being bad very quickly. I got the Salsiccia e Friarielli which is essentially Italian sausage and broccolini and it was absolutely amazing! I literally cannot get over the sourdough crust which had a slight char. Loved the breadiness of the inside with the crispy outer edges. Broccolini is officially my new favorite pizza topping, such a great way to counteract the saltiness of the sausage. Also, the toppings in general weren't too overpowering and went very well with the extremely fresh mozzarella. Only thing I wish is that they cut the pizza for me but maybe that wouldn't be very traditional. Overall such a great experience at Pizza Pilgrims. I seriously cannot wait to come back, this place is absolutely delicious! I also love their interior design as well, I can't get over how cute it is. read more

As far as pizza goes, Pizza Pilgrims deserved a definite 5 stars. With unique options (including vegetarian and vegan ones), both pizzas I tried had amazing flavor, the perfect amount of goey cheese, and were just the right size to leave me feeling satisfied. My mate and I ordered the the 8-Cheese and Double Pepperoni & Spicy Honey pizzas. As someone who doesn't tend to like pepperoni pizza, I really enjoyed this one. The spicy honey added a perfect kick and the pepperoni had just the right amount of crisp. For the 8-cheese, the sweet chili jam absolutely made it, and complete with the tableside chili oil was perfect. Splitting the two pizzas offered the perfect contrast between the different flavors as well. The dough was crispy on the outside but still a bit softer and chewy on the inside which is exactly how I like it. I have yet to find a better place for pizza and London, and honestly, this was better than any pizzas I experienced when last in Italy either. read more

A group of YUC-ers were invited out to a special pilgrimage to judge the new 'Spring Pizza' special at the Canary Wharf location. We were seated in their special 'parmesan' table which had parmesan lights hanging over us. It was really really cool. The location is a Grade II listed dock-warehouse building which makes the atmosphere feel very special. Downstairs area is decked out like a gaming zone with a foosball table which was super fun. The experimental pizzas that were offered tasted amazing. Each chef makes their own dough, and puts their spin on it in a different way. Standout ingredients include red cabbage puree, pickled yellow tomatoes, pea cream, and some type of mozzarella. Did you know that they visit Naples for inspiration to make sure their craft is top notch? I can really feel the dedication, enthusiasm and skill that each head chef puts into their branches. Pizza everywhere, and so much to eat!! Firstly, the environment. Pizza Pilgrims at Canary Wharf is in a fabulous renovated dock-warehouse style building...as all the other restaurants along the strip are as well. It makes it for a very social, different and fun place to be. The restaurant is split over 2 floors. The lower floor even has a MASSIVE 10 people foosball table! Group of us YuCers were invited to vote on their experimental pizzas. The pizza names were: Pizza Terrona, Brussels Pizza, Speak-to-me, Primavera, Soho Calzoni, Primavera Pizza and La Croccolata. All were extremely different with some amazing combination of flavours and ingredients including red cabbage, yellow tomatoes, pee cream, carrot mash, dill and some funky basil combinations. Even the doughs were different on each pizza. It was fabulous to gain insight and taste the difference into how dough makes such a difference to the pizza tasting experience. The entire experience gave me such a heightened appreciation the effort and research that Pizza Pilgrims places into their pizzas. Making my way all the way from West London to Canary Wharf on a snowy day in London was a real pilgrimage, especially as I am completely unfamiliar with the neighbourhood and had to rely on Google Maps ... note to self, don't trust Google, trust your instinct and follow the bright lights. There is no entrance to Pizza Pilgrims on Hertsmere Road, but you enter via the lovely open space overlooking the water - this must be stunning in Summer! I was one of a small group of Yelpers lucky enough to be invited to a pizza challenge. What an honour to meet the head chefs of all seven branches (six in London, one in Oxford) as well as the Canary Wharf team and co-founder James. Each chef created a bespoke pizza to ring in Spring (I know, wishful thinking) with the winning pizza making it onto the menu. Our task was to taste and rate the pizzas - tough call as they were all delicious varieties using familiar favourites alongside unusual ingredients like cabbage or a special soft sausage only found in a specific region of Italy. I must admit I'm biased, I've never had a disappointing pizza at Pizza Pilgrims. Good to learn a bit more about their Neapolitan base - it's what makes these guys so special! read more

What a cheesy feast this night was!!! It went down a real treat! For this special occasion, we were given the honour of deciding which dough was deserving of the Spring Pizza challenge crown. All 7 pizzas were created in their own special unique way complete with the dough being crafted differently by each chef. I've never had such experimental pizza before so this truly was a unique experience. Ingredients and toppings I never thought would go well on a pizza completely changed the way I think of healthy food!! With red cabbage, pea cream, and carrot mash being used, the possibilities could be endless. Who said Pizzas can't be healthy plus with all that colour vibrancy, it really adds a splash of colour that meat cannot otherwise achieve ;-) #pizzaart Who knows there may even be an avocado edition on the menu sometime soon! Staying at the nearby Marriott Hotel and wanted something fast and casual for a late dinner. This place hit the spot. Priced very fairly and cooked in their pizza oven in just minutes from ordering. Would have liked a little more spicy sausage on my pizza - it seemed a bit gritty and not sausage-like but the fresh basil and the nice cheese made up for it. Will come back for their happy hour deal (all pizzas on the regular menu priced at ten dollars or less reduced to $5£ from 4:30-6:00PM). Good place considering the upscale area - and opened fairly late at night during the week (10:30 PM). read more

PHENOM happy hour - 16:30-18:30 £5 pizzas (only for the pizzas that are normally £10 or less) and £4 beer and wine. Sourdough pizza crust is super good and cooked to perfection. It's a snowy Tuesday evening and I have the absolute delight of judging Pizza Pilgrims' Four Season Challenge, with thanks to the YUC. This challenge locked the head chef of each restaurant location, hot in battle, to create a new pizza to be included on the Spring Season menu. I've never seen so much pride and passion over pizza! The chef's did an absolutely amazing job bringing a lot of interesting ingredients to the table and balancing them to create some of the best pizza I've tasted in a while! It was a close heat! All the pizza's very absolutely divine, with fresh generous toppings and bouncy dough bases. Each hosted it's own unique take on this spouting season, and each was made with dough unique to the restaurant. Yes, you heard that right, each Pizza Pilgrims has it's own pizza dough, lovingly made by it's Italian head chef. Now that's unique! My favourite had to be the La Crocccolata by Daniele Cenni from Covent Garden, which hosted red cabbage, which I absolutely love, but rarely see on menus. The colour was just stunning! This also boasted Italian ham, basil and a creamy sauce. The winning pizza, which I'd chosen for my second place, was also delicious and hailed from the shoreditch chef Fabio Bonaccio. This pizza which should be on the spring menu was topped with mozzarella, sundries tomatoes, yellow tomatoes and a beautiful green spinach base. I'm looking forward to ordering it when spring comes! Regarding the venue in Canary Wharf where the event was hosted - I'd expected some fancy little place with very little character, but was instead greeted in one of the listed buildings which originally functioned as a distribution warehouse. It's such a quirky place that feels very homely and very down to earth with it's PP overarching green theme, large social tables and cost feel. Keep a look out for the pizza van disco ball, memorializing the pizza van the two founding brothers of this venture started out from. You'll also find a mammoth table football game in the cave style basement, along with a few old school arcade games. It feels like some Italian wine cellar, perfect for a bit of privacy. An absolutely enjoyable evening which clearly highlighted this companies love for real Italian pizza, quality and bringing delicious food to it's customers. read more

I visited Pizza Pilgrim in West India Quay for lunch today with 5 work colleagues. We arrived at 1 under the booking 'Victoria'. We ordered food at 1.20 after the last person arrived. We waited until 2pm to be served. No explanation given. Lots of waiting staff passing by our empty table for 40 minutes and no one asked where our food was. We asked 3 times where the order had got to before it arrived. There was no explanation why it took 40 minutes to serve us - or an apology. When we left one waiting staff member insisted on giving us a fresh pizza to take away for a colleague who could not join us in person - because a colleague of his had handed it over 10 minutes before and he didn't think it was right that we should take away cold pizza. That was very kind -although a cynic would say it was a subtle acknowledgement of the poor service earlier. But I noted that it took 5 minutes from taking the order for the replacement pizza to handing over the box. So I can only conclude that the 40-minute wait was because the order wasn't made properly or it was forgotten. A truly underwhelming lunch experience..., read more

Lovely bright place amongst a lot of generic CWharf restaurants. Fantastic service from some very friendly guys who went out of their way to make my two young kids welcome (despite being young kids.) They even offered to customise smaller pizzas for little appetites, off menu. My own pizza was gorgeous, service was fast, decent prices for the area. read more

I had a very bad experience. I ordered a salami pizza and they served something that looks and tastes like cheap bacon strips. Dough was not crispy at all. Never again. I don't understand why this place has received these good ratings in the first place. If you are really a fan of pizza you will not like it at all. Hell, the freaking supermarket pizza is better than this. Also for the size completely overpriced. In the end they even had the decency of adding a big service charge on top of the bill. read more
