I Ordered a Margherita pizza slice (GBP5), that started off the chalkboard listing several other available varieties. It has taken the classic Neapolitan pizza ingredients and cooked and cut them up in the style of a thin New York slice. I stumbled into this place while walking around Convent Garden, seeing a small opening ( like an alley) I was curious to walk in and explore. Wow, this "alley" opened up to an area that was vibrant and filled with delightful shops and cafes! Lucky I found HomeSlice. They offer a variety of pizzas with chewy, light crust. Here's my fair review of my first pizza visit in Los Angeles. Nothing but love here, just remember, this is just my opinion: I ordered the margarita slice and the mushroom slice. Margarita slice: fantastic . 4.5 out of five stars . Nice undercarriage . A bit lighter, no flop. Savory lighter sauce. Decent layer of cheese. Mushroom slice: only for the daring . I should have avoided this one. I've never had anything like this one, but that doesn't make it good per se. This is gourmet ho-hum fartsy style pizza. It was weird and the taste was even weirder. There was like some sorta balsamic vinaigrette layer oil, pine nuts , and like was it ricotta cheese? I don't know. But it didn't work. And these ingredients are rubbish , especially for pizza. This is quite good pizza, well prepared and offering several interesting topping combos. Delicious chewy crust, covered in cheese, dense with toppings. The location is good, Neal's Yard feels like a hip world inside a hopping one. The prices are a bit high -- older reviews mention 20 GBP pies, that's no longer the case -- though one is solid for 3 people. TL;DR: Decent pizza in London but definitely not anything amazing. I'm from New York, and the reviews of this place are over hyped. Parking/transportation: In a great area with lots of shops and restaurants. Not too far from the underground, and can easily be dropped off by taxi as well. Staff friendliness: Friendly staff. Environment: Nice ambiance. They left the door open when it was freezing outside. We sat right next to the door and it was cold. Bathroom: There is a bathroom available. It's small and wasn't too clean when I went to use it. Service/Quality: I expected more from a place that is reviewed as the best pizza in london. The flavors were mediocre. You can only choose between slices or a 20" pie. The slices are thin. My wife and I opted for the pie and we were able to finish the entire thing pretty easily. We got half margarita and half mushroom/ricotta. The mushroom slices were good, the others were really plain. We stopped by Neal's yard around lunch time and decided to check out the pizza place. The servers were very welcoming and we decided to order one large pizza for three of us. Slices were also available. We then happened to see the size of a slice at our neighbors table and realiZed we probably ordered too much. Our server graciously offered to cancel our order and we ordered a few slices instead. We got the margarita and mushroom pizza. The slices were really large and delicious. The staff at Andrew's is always friendly! Whenever I walk in the door I'm greeted with a smile and a hello. The manager is such a hard worker and he never stops moving. He is constantly making sure that all of his patrons are having a good time and enjoying their visit to his coffee shop. He even has a beautiful cat that is extremely friendly. This place was so great and reasonably priced. You get a huge pizza which our family of 4 split. You can order 1/2 and 1/2 of two types of toppings. We had the salami and the hummus for our two. They were both great. The sauce on the salami side was a little spicy so our kids didn't like it, but I thought it was great! The price was 20 euros per pizza you got the signature pizza which was 30 euros. The atmosphere is a hipster, punk type and ok for kids. Only got one quick mergherita slice, and while I had somewhat mixed feelings, I ended up liking it in the end. It almost looks like a New York slice because it's so big, but really this is an oversized Neapolitan -- the undercarriage isn't floppy but basically right above the borderline of sufficiently stable, and the crust is super fluffy. The tomatoes and basil did their job, but it was really the last few bites at the end (when the crust became a factor) that really brought me back into positive territory with this slice. With all the amazing pizza back home, it's hard to say I'd seek this out on a trip to London, but it's good nonetheless. read more

I always start with the standard slice at any shop to get a feel for their pizzas. This one was phenomenal! The pizza was crispy and the dough was flavorful without being yeasty. The sauce was not overly seasoned and the quality of the tomatoes stood out since the didn't add buckets of sugar to their sauce the mozzarella was melted and had a great richness that melded everything together. Lastly, that fresh basil on top really took this to the next level. The atmosphere is inviting and warm. Long tables mean opportunities to socialize and grab a drink. First visited Homeslice Neal's Yard 5 years ago, and it is still my favorite pizza ever! The Neal's Yard location is very small but worth the visit and any wait for its unique location and cozy setting. If you're with a group (and an appetite) the £20 pizza that you can split flavors is an incredible deal and offers some more flavor options. Thankfully, my favorite flavor, the mushroom ricotta chili (you have to get this one!) is available by the slice! The slices are very generous portions and one was enough for my dinner. We arrived just before 6p for a pre-theatre dinner and waited a short 5-7min before being seated at a shared table. 20" Pizzas for £20 The pizzas are huge, best for three people. It's a lot for two people but two people can still finish off a pizza. The pizzas tend to be a bit creative - lamb, corn, cauliflower, etc. I've been a few times and have actually found the four cheese pizza to be my favourite. Love that the cheeses are from Neal's Yard, the goat cheeses are super flavourful. Crust is light and very good, thin and generally without structure. The only downside to this location is that it's small and there's a giant woodfire in there. It gets very hot in there, especially in the summer. read more

One is the loneliest number, so I shared a table with some others that were already there. It's a fairly loud place when it's hopping, but not terrible by any means. Not to sound like that bitch, but this place is kind of over rated. My first friend in London (who's taste I now question) said these exact words "This is the best pizza London has to offer! Even better than American pizza and a close second to Italy". Maybe it was the beers that were talking when she told me this or my HIGH expectations, but these pizzas are only good because of the creative flavors and large size (one pizza can serve 3 people). But my biggest reservation of Homeslice is the sub par service, the lack of sauce, and inconsistency of pizzas. The first time I came, I ordered the corn and chorizo and the brisket pizza and it was amazing! It was also cool that you could do half and half on their pizzas. Second and third time around, these were the shittiest pizzas. Barely any sauce and lack of flavor. To be safe, I would stick with their mushroom or rocket pizza (which are very reliable!). Also, the queue is at least 1 hour during dinner time and there is no seating to wait. Yelper's Note: Me and this friend are no longer friends.
