Worst Choice We EVER Made!
Before I begin I want the reader to know that I am not in any way questioning the integrity of the medical doctors within this facility or their respected abilities, however this review will be very honest regarding our experience. Prior to selecting this practice my wife spent many hours researching the doctors whom practiced in this group. Suffering from a traumatic emotional experience in her past regarding a male physician, it was my wife's desire as a paying customer to only deal with female OBGYN's which was discussed very clearly during our first visit. At the time the doctor in whom my wife felt would be the best candidate given her medical history and reviews seemed to be compassionate to my wife's unique concerns and informed us of the practice's standard policy of patients having to be seen by the rotating doctors within the practice, however also stated that it doesn't always work out and comforted us by saying that given our time line of pregnancy it should be no problem to work arrangements out so that my wife, whom has been emotionally and mentally scarred in the past, would not have to be subjected to being seen or examined by a male physician. Fast forward, we are now at 27 weeks along and just made our last payment installation to this medical group to assure that insurance deductible was met to be fully covered for delivery and we experience the single most disrespectful treatment by a member of the office staff after just being informed that our unborn child may have irregular heartbeats and was being sent to the second floor for additional monitoring and emergency ultra-sound. This information alone was stressful, but to have to deal with complete unprofessionalism from some woman behind the counter additionally added stress causing my wife to become a complete emotional train-wreck. I do not know her name (because she did not have a name tag on, just a scrub top with the practices logo on it) but through her actions and her comments she continued to show lack of compassion or concern towards a patients current condition and mental well-being, which inadvertently could have effects on an unborn child. At one point, the staff member directly insulting towards me for simply trying to explain that both my wife and I's work schedules and times and days available were complicated to their hours. Other doctors were available to see us, however she was insistent that my wife be made to see a male OBGYN with no other alternatives. We asked to speak with our doctor whom we thought we had built a kindship with, however this woman took it upon herself to contact the doctor directly then returned to us stating the doctor questioned her, and I quote "Why am I always seeing the same patients?". At this point trying to console and comfort my emotional wife we simply asked that we call and make our next appointment as we needed to get downstairs to find out if there was something wrong with our child. The doctor's concern was that perhaps chambers of our child heart chambers were fusing together or to see if perhaps water was surrounding the baby's heart. The staff on the second floor witnessed my wife's severe emotional distress upon our arrival and provided a great service and comfort to my wife to help calm her down. I thank them so much for that. Several days pass, yesterday my wife receives a call from the OBGYN Associates group, Laura I believe she said the woman's name was where that she spoke to. As she told me of the conversation that she had I simply could not believe how unprofessional this specific group really is. This woman apparently MANDATED that my wife's follow up appointment be with one of their male doctors and was very rude to my wife referencing our work schedule and available times. As I listened, I found myself thinking that we are the paying customer and we should never be talked to in such way and with so much disrespect. Yes I made comments that I would let all this be known and I am true to my word. There are hundreds, if not millions of women worldwide that have had horrible and unspeakable things happen to them when dealing with male physicians and carry emotional stress and feelings of severe discomfort when dealing or trusting the opposite gender and perhaps like many we truly feel that it is our choice and our right to choose what is best for "US" in the best interest of our child. I would love to plead my case to the medical board and ask that this be under review. At this time I strongly encourage women and couples to choose what type of service they wish to receive for their hard earned money. read more
