I had a burrito that was ok (my fault for ordering it. I never enjoy a plain burrito) and my husband had steak fajitas which were absolutely amazing!!! Food is plentiful so I would do the fajitas and share....Love the view, the ambience, the service and the food!!! Only complaint is that there was no tres leches (a sin in my Mexican world) but there would have been no room anyway if they had it. read more

We went in for lunch and were seated in an otherwise empty room, two different servers looked in on us and then left. No one brought us water or even came back to the table. We got up and left - not a single one of the six employees we passed greeted us or said a word. All four of us were surprised. Went here a few weeks ago with my boyfriend and my vegetarian burrito had a giant hunk of undercooked meat in it. There could have been more in the burrito than what I saw but I was just too grossed out to keep looking and wanted to get out of there ASAP. The fact that it was red still really sent me over the edge. The burrito wasn't modified to be vegetarian either, it was one of their menu offerings. My boyfriend didn't even believe me at first until he inspected it himself. The rest of our experience was ok I guess and I felt bad for the waiter as it wasn't his fault. We obviously weren't charged for the burrito but that experience really made me sick to my stomach and killed my appetite for the rest of our Sedona day trip. Great food and great service. I got a veggie burrito with cactus added. I enjoy the grilled cactus and they made it really well. They were amazing about catering to everyone's diet needs at the table. The bar tender delivered drinks himself and he was very pleasant. Rafael was our server and we was very attentive. Ultra poor service! We were seated served chips and salsa with water. We checked out the menu and decided on our meal. Sat and waited patiently for twenty minutes. Several waiters and waitresses passed by us checking on other tables. Water glasses empty now and salsa gone. Still no service. Walked up to the cashier to state we were going to leave as we couldn't get service. She said sorry and let us leave. No offer to make it right. Owners and/or mangers should take a closer look at current lunch staff as they don't take pride in their work place. Well- I have visited Oaxaca several times over the years and have always had great food and service. Tonight was not that way. I brought family who had never been there before expecting a great meal. We were seated and chips,salsa, & waters were brought over. We then waited about 20 minutes for our server to come. We ordered when he came- a chimichanga, red rock enchiladas, and the cactus tacos. He also said he would bring more chips over. We then waited over 45 minutes to see our server again. The guy that filled the waters came by and I asked him to check on our food as it had been a really long time. Like magic our server showed up with our food. It had very obviously sat under the warmer for a long time. The cheese on the chimi was browned and like plastic. The food was ok, not great and definitely not worth he wait. My wife and I LOVE this place. It's a little out of our price range for anything except special occasions (like 12-15 a plate for good stuff), but it's a tourist town and with it being located downtown that's kinda unavoidable. I'm from a small town in south Texas and a lot of our Mexican food there is made by 1st generation immigrants from Mexico, so I know good Mexican food. The food at Oaxaca is kind of Americanized, but with tourists from all over the US eating there, it's good that they cater to a wide range of palates (not just the well-cultured ones). The food is delicious, though and as is customary you do get chips and salsa. My favorite thing about this place is probably the atmosphere. It's got a very cave-like, hole-in-the-wall feel in half of the restaurant, and large, picturesque views in the other half, so you can pick what you prefer. Friendly wait staff and good service plus immersive ambiance makes for a pleasant experience. The only drawback really is that it's not very disability friendly with stairs to get in the main entrance (there is an alternative entrance) as well as stairs to get to the very small restrooms, but I think it just adds character to the place. If you're a cheese/avocado lover, PLEASE get the Red Rock Enchilada...you're welcome. read more

I ate here the other day with my wife on a recent trip to Sedona, AZ. We have eaten here multiple times and we keep coming back because of the food. The food is pretty good and comes out fast from the kitchen. We love the complimentary chips and salsa. This is a great snack before your meal and they keep bringing more out and the chips are made in house so they are hot and fresh. The only negative is the service sometimes lacks, this is a busy place so we got seated fairly quickly but then sat there for 10 minutes after our water and chips came. Like I said we enjoyed the chips so we were not dying but we were ready to order. I am sure the next time we visit Sedona, this will be a lunch spot! read more

I'm not sure why this gets the fairly low ratings it seems to carry on here. I'm ultra critical when it comes to Mexican restaurants, so for me to be impressed is good. The two primary indicators of good American Mexican restaurants is their margarita, and their salsa. This place does good on both. While the salsa could be spicier, it's good. The margaritas were surprisingly well liquored given it's a touristy town where that's uncommon. The food was average\slightly above average. The menu was fun as it had some things you normally don't see at a Mexican restaurant. I can't remember what it was called, but I got the enchilada with an avocado in it with cheese. I'd never seen that anywhere else - avocado on top sure, but inside? Unique. But it worked! Had a good time, and the patio's view is phenomenal. In a touristy town the prices are higher than average Mexican food, but that's to be expected. If I were to go back to Sedona, I'd go back to Oaxaca without hesitation! read more

Food was soggy very rude told them to sit outside then but us inside were it was hot and was in a corner my tia ordered a flan before our food and got it after her food and told us I was a 25 min wait to sit out side even though their was 3 tables spaced out cause of the virus but when I got my chimney chonga I was in a tortilla and wasn't fried will not be going their no more I wish I could give zero but 1 is the worst one. read more

Nice seating up on the patio but we were seated and brought chips and salsa, which we noticed were $3.95 on the menu (unsure if they would've been charged to our bill).After we were brought water and the chips we were seated for a full 20 minutes and not one person asked us if we needed anything or took our order, drinks or otherwise. Other guests came and were seated at tables near ours and had their order taken. Maybe just an oversight but we left and let the hostess know what happened and she didn't say anything to us or seem taken aback. Prices were very steep too. A bummer to say the least. read more

Very popular place. I had the enchiladas. They were great. Local draft beer was great. We were seated quickly. Food arrived fast.

This was not a good choice for Mexican food. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly, but the food was just not good. Had to use a knife to cut the enchiladas. The cheese in the enchiladas was not even melted. Maybe a bad day for them, but it was a wasted dining experience for us. read more

Great service! Great food! The soft tacos, rice and beans were delicious along with the chimichurri sauce and pickled onions. The portions are very large - couldn't eat it all. Restaurant is poorly run. It's in a convenient location in the middle of all the Sedona shops but the service was poor and the food mediocre. We waited a half hour to sit and then over an hour to get our food. The cooks couldn't keep up with orders even though the restaurant wasn't too packed. We didn't want to spend our entire Saturday night at a Mexican restaurant but that's what ended up happening. If you're looking for convenience this place is it, if you're looking for quality, look elsewhere. read more

The salsa was basically just tomato paste, the portions were small for the price, my meal was just okay and my boyfriend's was subpar, service was bad. Don't go there if you can help it, the desserts were cute but my friend's was burnt. read more

We started our lunch with a dirty water glass. When we got our food it was ok,but, nothing special. It was a hot day and I wanted a re-fill of my water. It was hard to get the servers attention. When I did get my glass refilled, it wasn't water, it was flat Sprite. We decided to leave and requested the check, after a while he brought a check but it was not our bill. I am a fan of burrito's but there were none on the menu, but was able to have one ordered to my liking. As far as pricing, everything here in Sedona is expensive.
