Food: We ordered the guacamole, shrimp tacos, enchiladas and rice and beans! All of that food was served hot! Sevice: Service was great our waitress was helping and attentive. Ambiance: The Resturant is beautiful! We sat outside and enjoyed the view. We will definitely be back!
This place is soo good. Its very spacious and clean. Love all the plants everywhere and the decor. The service was good. This was our first time and the waitress walked thru the menu and gave some good recommendations. The food was good. The brussel sprouts were so flavorful and has a sweet spicy taste to them. The cesar salad was soo good! I wish that there was an option for a half portion. The guac was delicious 10 out of 10!! Although the fish tacos looked good they use tilapia so I decided not to get them. Everthing seemed so fresh and the unique flavors on some of the items were delicious and balanced each other perfectly. Definitely check this place out well worth the price.
Wow! WOW! food is excellent, feels authentic Oaxacan and very well executed! It's a good value, and I'd assert that the most compelling reason to go might be to have an outdoor dinner with a group. The place is quiet and empty (for now), and makes excellent food! If you haven't discovered this hidden gem yet, you should go check it out.
For $56, I expected something more wow factor for my meal. However, it was mediocre Mexican food. Firstly, my burrito de langostino had shell bits inside! If I'm paying $19, I expect a flawless burrito. I was also confused as to why the menu labeled the item as langostino. It was a normal shrimp and quite deceptive to call it langostino (which translates to langoustine from Spanish). For the record, for a $19 burrito, I only received 3 "langostino" or "giant shrimp" which really was just a regular shrimp nestled in semi-cooked rice and bean. I did get 2 thin slices of avocado. The tacos taquero de bonemarrow was a simple taco with a side of bone marrow. For $28, I'd expect something with more substance and frankly, a little more seasoning. Tacos were quite bland and I luckily had a packet of salt in the car. The bone marrow was nice, but I wouldn't consider 4 small tacos and 1 bone marrow to be equivalent to $28. I saw good reviews online and wanted to try this place out to see Mexican food outside of CA. This place is mediocre and I'm certain there are other better places one can venture to in Atlanta. Service was okay. I called for takeout and paid in advance for my order. Parking is in an apartment complex building (maybe?) and you do have to walk out to find the store.
My girlfriends and I were looking for some good Tex-Mex in Chamblee and Oaxaca was recommended to us. We braved a Georgia downpour and we found free parking and decided to sit on the restaurant's outdoor covered patio. The hostess and servers were really welcoming and our server made some great recommendations. I enjoyed the prime rib tacos(they were juicy and had a habanero sauce on the side). My friend got a shrimp fried taco and she said it was good. We look forward to trying more dishes soon.
Beautiful spot. Great vibe. Low lighting and music. We only sat at the bar for a round of drinks but I can't wait to go back for food and more drinks. Free parking in the attached garage.
I was so impressed walking in the restaurant! The vibes were giving all inclusive resort in Mexico. They have a beautiful covered outdoor patio and tons of seating inside. We came here for Saturday lunch, but found out they also offer brunch from opening to 4 pm. Service started off fine. We were greeted by our server and dropped off water, then we placed our drink orders. I got the cafe de olla and it was beautifully served with tons of sugar that I didn't need. My husband ordered a margarita that he enjoyed too. It did take awhile for his drink to come out since there's one person in charge of both coffee and bar, and more people were coming in. Our server disappeared for quite some time, so we couldn't place our order. When she finally came, we ordered guacamole served with totopos. For my meal, I ordered green chilaquiles with over hard eggs. To my surprise since it wasn't on the menu, she asked if I wanted steak or chicken and opted for chicken. Thank goodness we had the guacamole to tied us over because our meals took forever to come. We were probably waiting 20-30 mins. The guacamole was delicious though and loved the fresh herbs! When our food finally came, my dish was served with medium eggs, not over hard so we had to send that back to the kitchen. The chilaquiles were also drowned in sauce. I've never had anything like it, and tbh, it wasn't my favorite. They did bring me new eggs that were cooked enough but still wasn't cooked over hard. The people I was with enjoyed their dishes though. Our server did apologize for the wait and the error, but the error itself did bring down my experience of this place.
We went early on a Saturday after an art event. Sat at the bar with Davod. He was awesome. Knew everything about the menu and ingredients. My friends can't have gluten. The chips are the big ones you break and they were really good and the restaurant was not stingy with them like Bar Taco. The cheese dip with jalapeño's served in a skillet was amazing. You can chose between chips and. Or the tortillas. We got both. We also got a side of beans rice and mushrooms. We mixed these all up and put in the tortillas. I love mushrooms and these were great. The frozen margarita was good. Not amazing. My friends got the margarita on the rocks with the mezcal tequila. She loved it. It wasn't all ice like some bars serve up. Would go again. Also loved the atmosphere.
Same country, totally different flavor story. Oaxacan food is like Mexico's deep, smoky, soulful cousin -- and once you've tried it, there's no going back. I was recently invited to @oaxacaatl Oaxaca, Chamblee to try their new menu additions -- and it was nothing short of a flavor fiesta! Bringing the authentic taste of Oaxacan cuisine to Atlanta, they use a mix of locally grown and imported ingredients that make every dish burst with freshness and depth. We started with some stunning appetizers -- equal parts gorgeous and delicious -- and the outdoor seating made it all even more perfect. Sampled - 1- Elote OR Esquite 2- Herb Guacamole ( gorgeous presentation and tasted great) 3- Queso Fundido ( best I've tried ) 4- Ceviche de Tuna ( was really appreciated) Their cocktails deserve their own spotlight -- the Condesa and OG Margarita were instant favorites The Taco Portobello ( was a unique presentation) The Pollo A la Lena The Grilled Truffle Salmon was a big hit!! The Bonemarrow With so many bold and vibrant flavors across their entrees, Oaxaca Chamblee is definitely one of those spots you'll want to go back to again and again.
Came in for a drink around lunch time on a Saturday. Ordered the ultima palabra. Received my drink with half of it missing (under poured) and the glass chipped. Mediocre service when I was the only person sitting at the bar. Oh and the pen to sign off on the bill didnt work. Not a good first impression.
So this is a really nice spot. If you wanted to have a little duck off and maybe have a small group or a date. It's also a pretty nice spot if you want to have a larger group that could sit outside. Not too large though. But this is a really good spot all together. It's Latin food so keep that in mind when you order, some of it may be topless other ones, maybe full entrees, but you can get the full Gambit of things that you're looking for here. When you come in, you'll be able to do free parking on the street. And there is a structure across the street as well. The bar area is really nice and everything is clean and the aesthetic looks very tropical. We came in for a drink because we had already eaten across the street and been meeting to try it. I had the OG margarita, which if your tequila fan, this will definitely be in your bag. They have a lot of mescal so if you want some smoke they can do that as well. They actually gave us a complimentary Margarita, but I'm not quite sure what it was necessarily, because it's not on the menu. But the fact that you gave me complimentary drinks was a big plus. The Bartender was super cool about it, he tried to explain it, but it overall a good experience.
There was some street construction the day we visited, so finding the right turn for the restaurant and parking garage was a bit tricky. Luckily, when you exit the parking garage, there are small signs that help guide you toward the hotel entrance. We had a reservation, but since it was early dinner time on a weekday, there were plenty of seats available both indoors and outdoors. The decor is really nice, stylish but comfortable. I do wish they had some backup seat cushions for customers who might need them since all the seats are hard, though that seems to be a common design choice in many restaurants nowadays. The servers were friendly, but they didn't seem too familiar with the menu. Once our food arrived, it was a little hard to get our server's attention, but any passing staff member was happy to help when we needed something. We ordered: - Ceviche de Camarón (shrimp ceviche): Fresh shrimp with a nicely balanced dressing, really good! - Esquite (corn off the cob with black garlic aioli, cotija cheese, and tajin): Flavorful and delicious. - Deep-Fried Shrimp Tacos (3 pcs): Super tasty and a favorite at our table. - Pollo a la Leña (half grilled chicken): We had the sauce on the side, but even after adding it, the chicken was still quite dry. The staff offered to add oil and regrill, but it didn't help much since the meat was already overcooked, the only disappointing dish of the night. We also had an octopus dish that I couldn't find on their online menu (forgot the name), but it was very good! It was my parents' anniversary, and they had a great time. We were too full for dessert, but we'll definitely come back the next time we're in the area.
Five stars across the board for this establishment. We had no idea this place existed in our backyard. This is now been added to our top five list of Mexican restaurants in Atlanta. Their service was phenomenal, super friendly. The food was exceptional, including the the margarita; highly recommend the house. When I wouldn't recommend are the churros, a little mediocre. Can't wait to come back again with friends!

Fantastic service and the food is so fresh! Definitely more traditional Mexican food and not anywhere near Americanized. If you aren't used to this kind of cuisine, Google and the servers is your best bet for an amazing meal. Take their recommendations! Also make sure to make a reservation in advance. read more

Excellent flavors from Oaxaca. From the fresh masa and spices brought in from Mexico to the hand made tortillas, the flavors from each dish are amazing. The hamachi crudo, hamachi tostada, shrimp ceviche, branzino, carne asada and half or whole chicken are a must try. Great flavors in each and every dish. The duck was amazing as well. I've been at least 4 times now since they recently opened. Happy to hear that they are now open for lunch. From a service standpoint they are doing pretty well for only being open for several weeks now. The service is however, dare I say, a little to aggressive and over the top at times as on at least two different dining visits with a group, we were interrupted a little too often while we all were conversing amongst each other. Additionally, plates were taken away a little too quickly even when there was still food to be had. A little bit more wait staff training will however fix these issues. As for adult beverages, they have quite a few craft cocktails that will please any cocktail aficionado. The cocktails are well thought out and balanced, not too sweet. The drink called Obsession was my favorite although several others came a close second. As for dessert to end the night, the churros are done perfectly. I also tried a corn based dessert, deconstructed corn husk meringue and the tres leche. All three desserts had great presentation and great flavors. Can't wait for spring time as they have a huge patio that will be a perfect spot to have a nice cold beverage. Looking forward to the next visit, Oaxaca. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

Ambiance, service and cocktails were definitely outstanding. I had high expectations for this restaurant, but unfortunately I was not impressed with the food. I ordered a cafe de olla, Hamachi Crudo, gorditas de chorizo y papa and papas bravas. The masa on the gorditas was dry and flavors could have been richer. Will definitely return and try other dishes. read more

Food was great, their interior was nice. However their service wasn't okay; that's why I gave only 3 stars. Most servers were unprofessional: every times my server got our appetizer and started to chatting with other servers next to the kitchen. After appetizer came out, they didn't check our food nor ask our drink nor main menu until we finished our appetizer. I was confused like they wanted us to leave after finishing appetizer. The boss should be there to monitor their staffs. read more
We had a fun dinner here. The food is definitely unique and different and very tasty. We got the squash flower quesadilla which was different than anything I've had before. I didn't realize the squash would literally be a flower. And the grilled flounder tacos too which had a good sized piece of fish inside. I had a fun good cocktail too. Our waitress was great. It is loud inside. read more

We went after work on a Friday. Ample garage parking that's free. The ambiance is great. We were surprised that it was not very crowded on a Friday night. They do have an outside patio that's nice. They have unisex bathrooms that were very clean. Our bartender, Daniel, was great. Drinks were good. The food was just ok. I'd go back for the drinks and the vibe. read more

What can I say this place is soooo good!! It is in the mod pricey range so be prepared. It's worth it!! Salsas are delicious. Could have done without the creamy avocado one. It didn't have too much flavor. We got the Hamachi Tostado, Salsas, Pescado Zarandeado, Papas Bravas and Carnitas De Pato. Delicious, go check them out!!! read more

The staff is wonderful, but this is definitely a one time thing. The intention is there but definitely need to work on authenticity of the food Oaxaca offers. I know not to expect authentic quality, however the menu isn't even close. We ordered the Obesesion and Cuevas Peligrosas the tequila/mezcala overpowered the fresh flavors it was supposed to bring. I probably wouldn't come again unless they changed their menu. read more

Absolutely loved it !! Visited with a friend, I had a rising sun cocktail which was delicious. We had shrimp ceviche as an appetizer. A steak tlayuda and birria for main course, and lastly a strawberry tamal for dessert. Everything was amazing! Service was great. read more
Truly like visiting Oaxaca! The decor is clean and simple, raw woods with clean lines, plants for an earthy feel mixed with a slight industrial feel. Comfortable seats too. Started with a Paloma cocktail which was delicious then the hamachi starter and guacamole which looked as beautiful as it tasted! Like a little garden:) we also had the steak tostado which was cooked to perfection and perfect amount. Wonderful service, sweet and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend! read more

We came here for lunch one day and really enjoyed it. This is definitely more upscale than other Mexican restaurants in the area. They use authentic ingredients and cooking techniques and really explain the menu well. The food was delicious! I found our server to be super nice, attentive, and did a great job telling us about the dishes. We sat inside but the outside patio looks large and nice when the weather is good. We saw a kid here and I think they would accommodate kids - but as someone with young kids myself I may not bring them to a dinner here. Lunch maybe. It's a bit pricey but I don't think over-priced. Excellent food, service, and great covered patio. Recommend the Tlayuda. Very good tres leches but be prepared for strong coffee flavor. Not drinking right now so had a zero proof cocktail and a glass of tamarind juice (so refreshing). Definitely can't wait to go back! read more
We have been to Oaxaca 3 times. Once for lunch and twice for dinner. We have been lucky enough to have e David each time as our waiter and his enthusiasm is contagious. The food has always been excellent and some friends of ours who spent time in the state of Oaxaca said they feel the food is authentic and it certainly seemed that way to us. This last time we ate I sat facing the the entrance to inside and was completely impressed to see waitstaff pause at the door and then proceed together to the table which is a style of service and level of training not often seen in restaurants these days. Very impressive. Keep it up! read more

Walking our meal off around Chambee and wanted some dessert. We had the most wonderful time at this newly opened restaurant. The ambiance was relaxed and the host and wait staff were so inviting and kind...making us feel right at home. We will have to come back to try their amazing food. read more
Wonderful addition to the neighborhood with a light airy space with lots of windows and a pretty bar area. There's plenty of outdoor seating where you'll be surrounded by lush plants. The food uses more traditional oaxacan ingredients with inventive new twists. The guacamole is full of herbs and looks like a piece of art with edible flowers. The churros were a standout with corn husk ash dusted on top for unique charred flavor on the sweet dessert completed with chocolate dipping sauce. I'm excited to return and try more of the menu! read more

Food was great, prices were a little silly. Very expensive Mexican food. With tip, bill was around $320 for 4 adults. Food and cocktail serving sizes are small. They fill their glasses up halfway. I'll likely come back, but not for just a casual meal. read more

We've rarely been so disappointed in the food at any restaurant as we were with Oaxaca. The best thing I can say is the cochinita pibil was not terrible. The spice was good and some of the pork morsels were tender but others were dry and chewy. You could go to any taco stand along the way and get better authentic tasting food. The mole was based with a flavorless grey polenta that had the consistency of fresh cement. The elote corn was over-cooked and the sauce was heavy and just weird. We also tried the Hamachi Crudo and the Zucchini Blossom quesadilla. The Brussels sprouts side was good but in no way having any particular Mexican taste. Overall flavors were undefined, confused or just bland. The horchata was sickly sweet. To call themselves authentic Oxacan cuisine is misleading. It is definitely American Fusion and if that had been clear from the marketing I would have avoided to begin with. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. They were kind enough not to charge for the mole. read more

I'm so glad I decided to stop by and have dinner here. I visited Oaxaca city four years ago and the food served in this restaurant is so authentic, they source a lot of their ingredients directly from Oaxaca, the tostadas were so good. The servers were very friendly and helpful. Food came fairly quickly. I'll certainly be coming back. read more

Quality food and service. We came in on a Saturday night and our waiter was very attentive. The manager stopped by and made sure everything went great for us. For the amount of food we had & drinks, it was worth the drive for us. This is a review from a MEXICAN. read more

I have been excited for this place to open just by the name and seeing the space the last few months. On the 2nd night of opening, it did not disappoint. The service is in incredible and very intuitive....and the food is simple, fresh and made with care. The atmosphere is modern and gives off upscale Spanish vibes, you could be anywhere, not Chamblee. This is a welcome addition to the Chamblee/Brookhaven area and I can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu. read more

This is a nice break from the usual Mexican restaurants you're used to in Atlanta. I didn't have a reservation on a Saturday evening, and the place looked empty but they were completely booked. Luckily I was able to secure a seat at the bar. The service is great. I tried a few things on the menu including the chips and salsa. Please be warned, when they say the one salsa sauce is hot.... It's hot hot!!! The shrimp burritos was everything. I couldn't eat all of it, it was so filling. The Brussels sprouts are very good. The Al pastor was amazing. And I tried the churros which were reminiscent of a donut. Overall I enjoyed this place. Definitely will be back. read more
