Oasis Kitchen - Falafel wrap and extra Falafel - Falafel Near Me - Oakland, California

Some of the best Mediterranean food I've had in the Bay Area (and definitely one of the top places for hummus and felafel around here!). The hummus was excellently flavored and the baba ganoush was nice as well. The felafel were amazing, crunchy on the outside with a moist inside and a lovely flavor. The lamb and beef shawarma was super tender and tasty, and the chicken, lamb, and kifta kebabs were all also really nicely grilled and flavorful and juicy (this kind of stuff can get dried out so easily...). The Spinach Bread with Feta was pretty good; it actually reminded us of a mini-calzone! We got a bunch of extra pitas, which was a good call considering how much food we ordered and how bit the portions are, but they were a bit thinner than we like, but that's really the only criticism we have! Definitely going to order from here again and try more of the menu!! read more

This is not the most delicious Mediterranean food I have ever tried but as a grad student I am always looking for cheap meal with huge portions, no one finished their plates last night. The food is good by the way, I am a huge bagaganoush fan and theirs is pretty good. I also liked their tsatski sauce. I am going back and telling my classmates. read more

It's been a minute since I've really wrote reviews, but what am I to the Yelp community if not a reviewer?! I'm back with a four star review! Restaurants and hang out spots have been opening up for what? A little over a month now? However long it's been, when I came here I was anxious to be out of the house and had a craving. It's been a while since I've felt like i've had a normal day. It's also cool that oasis lounge is right above it. I told the servers (?) that i'd be upstairs and they offered to bring it up to me. I didnt know that was a thing. Cool! I ordered the trio kebab plate. the lamb beef mix was most impressive. i loved the chicken kebab as well - pretty juicy for white meat. Hummus was delish - not too much oil. My only complaint is the steak, which was pretty dry. It's right across the street from the backside of the lake. Grab some food, go to the lake, eat and be a vibe. read more

Love this little "hole in the wall"! So authentic! The kabob trio is where it's at..... choose three kabobs: lamb, beef or chicken( I get beef and chicken) the beef is like a finely ground beef marinated and spiced perfectly and has a bit of spicy essence which I enjoy. Comes over rice and three Mediterranean deli style salads. Yogurt and cucumber is a must to pour all over your meal. Portions are BIG, so you will definitely have leftovers. Their falafel are so satisfying as well- not dry at all. Finish with a homemade baklava and you are set. The owner is a funny guy which I enjoy and a couple of the young guys working the grill aren't too bad to look at either while waiting for your order read more

I used to love the food at Oasis Kitchen and always order. yesterday I ordered for my family and I and the food SUCKED! the meats where dry and instead of hummus they now give you this cabbage garbage. people stop going to these places that no longer care about the food tasting good. it's not worth it. 5 orders for $98.00 could have made my food better! read more

Food was not good, I got a lamb shawarma extremely greasy and soggy flavor was not the best

This was our first visit to Oasis kitchen. I went with my son and daughter, both of whom love Middle Eastern cuisine. Oasis Kitchen is located on Grand Avenue in Oakland just across the street from Lake Merritt. Parking can be a challenge but if you're eagle eyed and aggressive, you can find a spot. Lock your valuables in the trunk of the car.... Upon entering, we were greeted by the staff, all of whom were friendly and appreciative of your business. There is an open kitchen on the left and seating on the right. There are middle eastern motives all over the walls which were interesting to see. Food wise, their menu is diverse but our mission was to satisfy a craving: Lamb Shawarma. We had the option of pita or lavash bread and all decided to go with the latter. Total price for all three was around $32... The verdict was that the shawarma was good but we all unanimously decided that we preferred pita over lavash. The lavash seemed to be a bit on the dry flaky side versus the soft pita that we were accustomed to eating. The meat was flavorful and delicious and the balance of toppings and spice was excellent. We also enjoyed the complimentary side of pickled veggies that they gave us when our food was brought to the table. For dessert, we all tried the pistachio baklava which were superb. This was an impulse purchase so we added an additional $6 to the tab. The bathroom and restaurant floors were a bit on the greasy side and overall, I felt that the place needed some tidying up and a good cleaning. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here and plan on returning in the near future to sample some of the other menu items. Nice job Oasis Kitchen! read more

Discovered this spot today with my family after taking the kiddo to Fairyland (which is across the street). Good value for some delicious food. Really hit the marks on what I was thinking it would be. We went with wraps and kept the meal pretty tame. They had some nice things that I'd like to give a try if and when I can come back. (Fries, meat and sauces on top of it...looked BOMB ). The folks who were working were kind, accommodating and helpful (coming in with a few us and helping us have a bigger table, enough sauces to enjoy to giving my kid an additional baklava which made her so happy). If you're in the area give it a try! read more

After reading other reviews, I just have to wonder if I tried an Oasis Kitchen from another dimension. My veggie combo plate consisting of 6 different foods was soooooooooo BLAND. I salted everything. I was squeezing lemon juice over whatever I thought it made sense to. Still, it just kind of sucked. Overcooked (unsalted) rice in the dolmas; mushy garbanzo beans in a small chopped salad that showed up in placed of Turkish salad; tabbouleh that was only identifiable by sight (by taste alone you might mistake it for room temperature oatmeal). The pita was easily store-bought - perfectly round and dry, even after a heat up. It was a letdown all around. You have other options in Oakland - take 'em! read more

Tried the shawarma wraps- chicken and lamb and you can't go wrong with either. There's an option to do half half of you prefer that as well. The fries servings is generous too. read more

I was in the area for an appointment and decided to stop by this spot for some dinner. Being Middle Eastern myself, I'm a big fan of Middle Eastern food, so I knew this would hit the spot. I ordered the Shawarma Combo Plate (~$13) which includes chicken, beef, and lamb shawarma with rice or fries and a side of hummus, tzatziki sauce, Jerusalem salad, mixed vegetables, and fresh pita bread. I asked for half rice and half fries, but was disappointed to see that when I got my meal, it only came with rice. I was in a rush, so I didn't have time to complain or ask them to fix it. The rice is by far one of the best I've had at a restaurant. It tastes pretty damn close to how my family makes homemade! The shawarmas were full of flavor and super tender. The hummus, tzatziki, and salads on the side complimented the dish well. It brought a fresh element to the dish which I enjoyed! Overall, it was a solid try. Aside from the disappointing mistake, the meal was very satisfying and actually lasted me two meals. I would recommend trying it out if you're in the mood for some good Middle Eastern food. read more

dropped by to pick up something for lunch after a run around the lake the other day. no indoor or outdoor dinning yet, but staff wear face mask, and provide hand sanitizer. I had their sharwama combo plate ($12.99). It came with a gabanzo salads, this one was not bad, could use some salt though. There was a cucumber yogurt sauce thing that taste really good. The tabboubleh salad was not bad. Their hummus was really good, it didn't seem to have any lemon juice in it, but it was soooo creammy, smooth, and addicting. There were chicken, beef, and I am not sure if the lamb shawarma was in there or not because I couldn't detect any lamb smell or flavor. Anyway a ton of roast meat was on the moise, and flavorful basmati rice. Everything tasted so good, and there was so much food. omg I almost forgot to mention their really good pita bread. If you're a bread person you're going to be addicted to it. I wonder if it is freshly homemade or something. very reasonable prices for plenty of food, and everything was really good. definitely will be back for more. read more

First time here. Ordered the Falafel wrap. They asked how spicy I wanted it. I ordered medium and it was the perfect amount of spice. The wrap was HUGE (sorry I didn't take a pic before devouring it). It was DELICIOUS. Fast service. Excellent customer service. Came here for lunch after moving to Oakland this weekend and I have to say Oasis did not disappoint! I ordered the vegetarian lunch special which came with falafel, dolma, tabouleh, hummus, tzaziki, baba ghanoush, pita, cole slaw, and picked salad....all for just $10.99. The falafel were crispy and tasty, the hummus was creamy and all of the side dishes were perfect accompaniments to the meal. So much food! Our friend at the counter was even nice enough to throw in a couple of extra dolma and pita bread. I have to say, I will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone looking for some homemade middle eastern food. Ordered chicken combo plate from DoorDash. Got both chicken kabob but they gave me mixed with kefta (?). I guess that's ok as long as it's not lamb as I don't eat it. But the chicken kabobs were so burnt and dry. The rice was too soft and mushy. read more

Same owners as the Oasis Food Market on Telegraph, not the Oasis Grill mini-chain in Berkeley and SF. Smaller menu with wraps, and plates of shawerma, kebabs, falafel, etc. Prices are a little higher than the mothership, maybe from a having a higher rent location? I got the Lamb / Beef Shawerma wrap ($9.99, marinated lamb/beef, hummus, salad and tahini sauce in lavash). Decent "super burrito sized" wrap spanning a dinner plate (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oasis-grill-oakland?select=fVBDfZzlvze0WFyPR-Qrjg#hrasUmM99xI8-xpGlqjl_g). They finish the wrap off on the grill which crisps up the lavash. Mostly tender meat inside with some cucumber, tomato, onion, and lettuce (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oasis-grill-oakland?select=fVBDfZzlvze0WFyPR-Qrjg#B-Ym3lfDj1Omj7eJ7AkDCA). Not a fan of the lettuce as the iceberg get's all wilty from the heat of the meat (don't remember it in the Telegraph location's wraps, either, but it's been a few months since I've been there). The menu specifies Lavash, but you can ask for the sandwich in one of their fresh baked Pitas. read more

Delicious food. Ill keep coming as long as the flavor is maintained. I like the swarma plates. I need to try the kebobs.

I'm Iranian and have eaten at most of the super pricey/fancy/popular middle eastern and Persian restaurants in the East Bay. Oasis Kitchen is now in my top 2 middle eastern restaurants. Mainly for their super flavorful, zesty chicken kebab, and their perfectly cooked rice. Their hummus, babaghanoush, dolmas and falafel are also super good. The portion sizes are HUGE for the plates (at least to-go). I'm a big girl, and for each chicken dinner I've ordered, I easily split it up over 3 meals, eating until I was full each time. The main cons I would say is the tzatziki sauce is lacking richness/flavor, and the tabbouleh is not enough bulgar or lemon. But those are more just personal preference. There is nothing wrong with the dishes otherwise. Anyways, I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy REALLY good middle eastern food without blowing a lot of cash. They're also open late! read more

I ordered the chicken shawarma plate, and it was amazing. Such a full plate! And the yogurt with cucumber side was so delicious. The customer service was great as well. Been craving Mediterranean food for some time now. Oasis Kitchen is near by and got pretty good reviews and good ratings so we decided to give it a go. We ordered the chicken wrap, chicken shawarma plate and pistachio baklava. The portions are generous and the food looks appealing to the eyes, but as I was peeling off a piece of the pita bread to indulge in with all the yummy hummus and Taziki sauce, I was not impressed. The pita bread was stale and very hard to chew. It was like chewing rubber...having been to many places in SF where the pita bread is soft and easy to tear off, I could tell, this pita bread was not fresh. Everything else like the rice, chicken shawarma, hummus and the taziki sauce tasted short of seasoning. Very bland. The only thing I enjoyed from my plate was their chicken because it was very moist. Still, it really needed some salt. I was pretty bummed out to have lost my appetite. After couple bites, I just couldn't eat anymore. The pistachio baklava was the last brink of hope for my entire meal. Hoping for a flaky crust and crunchiness from the pistachios, my hopes were quickly shattered. No pistachios were to be found and the flakiness disappeared to just a dense baklava. Wish this could be our new go-to Mediterranean considering how close it is to our place, but it is unlikely that we will be back. Three stars because at least, my Husband enjoyed his chicken wrap. Side note: Don't expect to call in an order. It took me 7 calls to finally get someone on the phone. read more

I was hoping to got to Bacheesos for the hummus hour for my last night in the East Bay. Alas, they were closed. I ended up walking a bit further down the street to the Oasis Grill. I was really delighted to see that it was not busy at 5:30pm on a Monday. There was a family waiting for their meal in front of me, that's it. The restaurant is clean, plenty of light, and many places to sit. It has a deli-style feel because one can see many of thing on the menu behind a glass case, ready to be served up upon order. I really had my heart set on hummus. So, hummus plate it was! The hummus place was a very generous helping of plain hummus, 2 falafel domes, and one piece of pita for $6.99. Super well priced!! The first thing I noticed was that the amount of bread to the amount of hummus was disproportionate. I could've used 2 pitas instead of just 1. Second, the falafel. Usually, I don't eat falafel because I haven't met a falafel I like. I've only ever ate falafel that were super dry and crumbly. These falafel were definitely not dry or crumbly! They were perfectly prepared, and had a nice citrus flavor. These are, by far, the best falafel I've ever eaten. read more
