Who's heard of an energy surcharge? And why do I have to pay it? Who knows. Insurance - they charge an extra $12 insurance for "my protection" and will only take it off when I send my renters / house insurance. Why does it matter? If I don't have insurance I lost my stuff. If I have insurance and something happens, my insurance company will still handle the insurance, whether or not I showed you a copy of my insurance. My insurance on my personal items should not matter. It's just another way for them to charge extra fees and make it difficult for you to remove fees. If there's a way for them to rip you off, they will.

I wish I could say that this is what you expect from a discount storage joint, however it is…read moredefinitely different here. This is an old warehouse that has been converted to a no-frills storage joint, and it brings with it some interesting challenges. The building itself is old and you can drive by it several times with ease if you aren't keeping your eyes peeled. There is an old "loading dock" around back that is in a shared parking lot and is a tight squeeze, only able to handle one truck at a time. The elevator is an old gated freight elevator that is surprisingly difficult to operate and most of the time does not stop level with the floors unless you manually "manipulate" it by activating the emergency stop features. However, the customer service team is extremely helpful and cares about having your needs met. The facility is big and it can be quite a walk from the elevator to your actual storage space. Bottom line: don't expect a Westy's. It works if you are looking for a cheap place to stash extra boxes and tinkets, however I recommend you take your furniture and big ticket items elsewhere.

There is no self storage option by the way which Yelp seems not to know. 1. They accidentally double booked me. Innocent enough. Somehow it got lost in transit(??) that they were packing as well as moving. 2. I've moved multiple times with my same set of furniture and items and these were the slowest movers I've had by far. 3. They want to charge me $265 to "transport" my items from their warehouse in West Haven... onto the loading dock of their warehouse in West Haven. So basically $265 to be able to get my things back and have nothing to do with them ever again.
