If I have insurance and something happens, my insurance company will still handle the insurance, whether or not I showed you a copy of my insurance. My insurance on my personal items should not matter. It's just another way for them to charge extra fees and make it difficult for you to remove fees. If there's a way for them to rip you off, they will.

I mainly use public storage and I have always had great experiences. I wandered around this place for an hour. I never got sent a map. There is no map posted or signs to navigate the unit number rational which seems to random. I literally could not find the unit number. I went to all entrances, all elevators all floors. I called the number in the office and left a message as I left frustrated that I wanted to cancel my reservation. The property manager was just short with me immediately snapping at me. I got refunded my deposit or whatever but they cannot refund a $30 admin fee. Which is outrageous because there was no admin it was all a computer email/ txts. There was no actual person on site or on the phone who could help me. The guy was obviously frustrated I get it but no reason to take it out on a customer.... He was making very unprofessional comments that were just completely unnecessary. Bottom line, skip this place go to the 30 other newer cleaner storage places in the area. The property manager mentioned he also works at the Bridgeport location which is interesting because I always see staff on site and each time they have gone above and beyond to help. I have never had an issue with staff there and certainly never had the attitude I received here.

I looked online and came across Southbury self storage. Their website was so simple and direct that I didn't believe it. There was a sale on unit rentals when I was inquiring and it was a much more reasonable pricing than I'd seen elsewhere. I called and spoke to Paul and then Rob. Anytime you call you get an answering service where they call you back after you leave a message or someone picks up right away. I've experienced both and they are prompt about communicating. Paul and Rob are also very nice. You can literally set up an account, rent a unit, and access your stuff without dealing with anyone. The parking lot is well lit as is the facility itself. They provide dollies, carts, and such to move your items. They also have a broom and pail for cleaning up any mess you've creates while moving. If you are looking for a private, safe, clean facility that is monitored without being intrusive, this is your sign to go for it. My items were retrieved at the end of the rental and wete perfectly intact and in the same condition they were left. I've no complaints and can't refer them enough.

The elevators are tiny, and anything large like a couch or fridge or table will be VERY difficult, if not impossible, to get onto the fridge. Also, the elevator doors are programmed to close almost immediately after they open, so they'll close on you. And they don't have any lasers to see whether you're in the elevator door, so they'll close forcefully on you or whatever you're carrying, repeatedly, until you get entirely on the elevator.
