After I got it, I was first really impressed with the weight of it. Then the many layers of katsu. The only thing is that there is not enough sauce. I guess I'll ask for extra next time. Total with tax, $8.25. The cashier rounded the amount down by 2 cents! Clean counters and fast service. Front counter employees did not speak too much English. Pop-up Plant-based vendor at Fishcake in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. When Irene told me that she got "in" for this month's Honobono pop-up, I was excited and curious. Via Instagram, customers sign-up for the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. They will message you for pickup time if you're selected. You may takeout or dine-in. The menu for 9-22-24 was a Bento and the dessert was a matcha flight - a scoop of ice cream, warabi mochi, and a regular mochi. Everything looked too beautiful to eat! We watched the workers assemble the bentos and matcha dessert flights. So much concentration and effort is put into each item! I was able to order one of the limited Kahi drinks. It's made with amazake, Yuzu purée, unsweetened yuzu soda, and matcha from Japan. The combination sounds odd, but tasted great! There were bits of yuzu with rind on the bottom of the cup. The citrus flavor was refreshing! This experience makes me want to sign up for the next event - October 13! I wonder what the menu will be...

This month of November they are serving a very satisfying HONOKEEMA curry set using HONOBONO original gluten-free koji curry paste made with five kinds of spices, fruits, vegetables, and koji; simmered with mushrooms, onions, tomato, konbuk kelp, and shiitake mushrooms. Amazingly the curry is topped with a very believable HONOBONO vegan egg yolk. The curry set is paired with a mini soup and salad of the day and a small bite of mochi. We also got the Imo Frappe - a plant-based version of Starbucks sweet potato Frappuccino and the Aki- amazake with raspberry purée, unsweetened strawberry, sparkling soda with premium uji matcha from Japan. Watch HONOBONO's IG for news of upcoming pop-ups and message them for reservations. Chef and owner Himi is the sweetest and the meals are unique and delicious. The pop up is cute and casual. I kid you not! If one could live on bread alone, for me it would be the Salt bread at Kilo Deli ! ...tastie, pillowy soft, decadently buttery and bursting with flavor...that is the salt bread at Kilo. With flavors like cream cheese, mentaiko, etc... there is something for everyone. My personal favorite is us the plain butter. Located between Kona and Kapiolani Blvd and in the same strip as Blend House and the Republik, parking is easy. Lots of overflow parking at Ala Moana Shopping Center... tho be sure to use the businesses there too if parking in the mall. Their hours and opening times were really sporadic so you really have to look at their instagram stories for any updates. The day i went was supposed to open at 9am, but it ended up being changed to 10, but actually opened at 10:17ish. The line formed and unfortunately the back half left since there was no salty buns left for everyone. Ordering was on the ipad and you have to do it yourself so it took quite a bit when people had to filter through all the diff tabs. the first few people actually only had 2 options but i had 3 when it was my turn. They also limited it to up to 4 buns only, which was fine. i only had 4 in my cart before making the annoucement. they only had a few drinks available too - i decided to opt out of that since the salt buns were what i was there for. i got arabiki, truffle, and OG. which came out to about $22. there is some parking available but not a whole bunch. their ac is currently not working but they have 2 portable ones for now. Inside seating was still cooler than outside. there is also one seat outside - perfect for your bestie, but the seat that is near the steps smells like pee. probably from all the night goers that go in the parking lot.

Normally, you'd find fries covered in nacho cheese, sour cream, and a hefty load of "meat" to be heavy but this was not the case at all. It felt very light and not at all oily, possibly with some help from the pico and jalapeños. The meat was a little on the sweeter side, which I found a nice contrast to the normally salty Mexican fare you normally get. The location is nice, there are picnic tables around if you want to dine there, and the employee was friendly. Definitely check Gordos out!

Early dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. Located across from Ala Moana Center is the Laulima Street Food Village where you can find a bright orange-colored Food Truck named Gordos. They used to be on the North Shore of O'ahu, but is now located at the frontyard of the Atkinson YMCA. There's shared outdoor dining tables and chairs for you and your dining companions! Service is very friendly and efficient. I was offered a bag for my plate - maybe the kind, observant worker saw that I was juggling the utensils, napkin, and other things. I ordered the shrimp taco plate... it came with two tacos. The shrimp were lightly battered. The veggies were fresh and the tacos had two flour tortillas each. The beans were tasty and the rice was moist and flavorful! I'm so happy that I got a chance to try Gordos!
