The flavor combinations were great, and also unique finds you couldn't get at other shops! We ordered some food to eat as well - the garlic fries were VERY garlic-y, and we also got the lap cheung spread on bread. Think of pate but made with lap cheung! Super unique find as well. If you're into craft beers, then absolutely stop in The Ale Project if you're in the area!

As you'd expect with this type of bar its located in the hip and popular So-Ho area. You're gonna find plenty of bars selling bog standard lager around here, but not Craft Brew. These guys really stand out with their rather aggressive marketing of, "Craft not Crap" and you won't find any boring beers in here. To be honest these guys had some outstanding beer on when I was in. I was drinking their very own Kung Fu Lager and Summer Ale as I'd never seen them in the UK. Both were great examples of a modern, hoppy beer. They were super cold and refreshing, not cheap, (as you would expect) but totally worth it in my opinion. With its simple wooden tables and decoration, this is definitely like a craft beer bar you'd get in Europe. The music was pretty hit and miss (I mean Take That, really??) but it kinda made for a fun night. The staff in Craft Brew were really great and allowed me to sample several different beers before finding the ones I was after. This is a top destination for beer lovers, if I lived in HK I'd be in here a lot!

What impresses me most is they pay attention to how its served and the staff definitely knows their stuff when it comes to beer, a few of the staff having their cicerone certificate, it's like being a sommelier but for beer. If I have visitors I usually take them here after all the tourist- stuff.

We tried an interesting sour trio from Yardley Brother--beers made with Mangosteen, Lemon, and Thai Chilli. I was hoping to like the Mangosteen one but it was a bit too muted for me; however, I LOVED the Thai Chilli sour so I ordered a full pour of that! Other great Hong Kong beers we tried were the Hunk Sir Milffee Porter (made with coffee and lactose) from Heroes Beer, and Meringue-utang strawberry/vanilla milkshake Double IPA by Carbon Brews. Beers in Hong Kong seem to be on the expensive side, although at this place the price wasn't quite as high as others. They also served food (BBQ) but we didn't get to try any. It otherwise had a very pleasant flavour profile. They also made a decent gin and tonic. I tried the Calamari, a Hawaiian and Supreme pizza, jalapeno cheddar fries and potato skins. The Calamari was good, crispy on the outside, and only slightly chewy on the inside, though the tzatziki that came with it was a bit too plain. It could've been more acidic, and had more cucumber, but otherwise it was a nice effort, considering how Greek yogurt is hard to come by in Hong Kong. I the Hawaiian and Supreme pizza are okay. The Supreme pizza had a strange bitterness to the crust, but the Hawaiian pizza was quite good, soft crust, flavourful toppings and stringy cheese. The jalapeno cheddar fries were crunchy, but the use of those individually vacuum packaged "cheddar" that they sell on at grocery stores and try to pass off as "cheese" really let the dish down. I mean sure, it's not a particularly expensive item, but people like their cheddar fries a bit gooey, not slimy. The potato skins were good, with just enough toppings to match the potatoes. They also used proper cheese cheddar cheese (strangely enough), so I was pleasantly surprised by it. I like how this location is much more spacious than their other Wan Chai locations, while still maintaining the same mid-range prices on drinks. Having brewed in-house craft beers is a huge plus for this place, but it seems that the brews just need to be polished a bit more before they can be truly great.
