Great service and food was perfect. Had bangers and mash, Danny boy sandwich, and Irish egg rolls. All were very good and seemed to be made from scratch.Egg rolls were huge and easily enough for a table of 4. Come hungry or ready to take home half of your plate! my husband and I just left O'Tooles . when I was starting to take my first bite if my dinner I noticed a bug crawling around on my plate. I immediately pushed my plate to the edge and waited on our server. I brought this to the attention of our server and told him I did not want another plate. ( I lost my appetite..). the restaurant charged us for a meal I did not eat. I was appalled. While the service was good, I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

Our first time here and we enjoyed it. Despite our server having at least one if not two other very big groups he did a great job of making sure we had what we needed. Food was good. Daughter's Mac and cheese was a little overcooked. Restaurant was loud because of groups but happy with the table they put us at. We will definitely be back. read more

Recently came here with a couple guys I golf with for a beer and lunch. Several months ago I voiced a complaint about the 3% charge for use of a charge card but was given a ration of a crap excuse why the charge was added. Apparently my complaint resonated with other customers for a variety of reasons because the sur charge has been removed as it should have been long before now. As stated before certain things are simply a cost of being in business and credit costs are one of them. I resent businesses unloading legitimate expenses on to customers and I see more people feel as I do. Thank you customers for your voice and boycotts have spoken. Other restaurants should follow suit and veto this illegitimate greedy practice. Finished business! read more

Great having a new otooles in midlo. Same great food. Still feels a bit like a strip mall restaurant but hopefully will build more character over time. Usually pretty busy and music some night so can have active bar crowd to. Must check out especially if hungry or thirsty. Great burgErs pizza and irish fare such as Shepard's pie. We've been here twice and luckily had good service both times. I agree with some of the other posts that the wait staff and new space lack the personality of the original location. On our second visit we asked the hostess if we could put a high chair in the spot of a regular chair so our son wasn't out in the busy aisle. She just looked at us, shrugged, and said "there's nowhere to move it." Then walked away. We chalked it up to the fact that they were slammed on a Sunday afternoon. The children's chicken tenders and fries are always a huge portion. My go to is the club sandwich and onion rings. So good. My husband loves the Danny Boy but on our last visit got the bleu cheese burger and raved about it for the rest of the week. It's not as warm and cozy as the Forest Hill restaurant but it's closer to us so we'll keep coming back. read more

O'Tooles is consistently meh. Come for the drinks but not the food. I have tried so many different items on their menu and I cannot find anything that is worth coming back for. Everything I've tasted is bland. Chicken parm is from a bag and fried until almost burnt. Their brunch portions and selections are very sad. I only gave it two stars instead of one because the waitress was super patient with our party of 8 and was really nice. I bought two different dishes and hated both of them. First I got a chicken club sandwich and the chicken was super dry and my side of mashed sweet potatoes was super bland. Then I got the shepherds pie, and the potatoes were still bland and the texture felt weird. It's really unusual for me to not like food, I'm not a picky eater at all. The food was awful. First fish and chips tasteless and a whole filet on your plate, overcooked. Onion soup greasy and tasteless. Not really hot either. I used to go to the one on Forest Hill Ave and it was always great, but far. So I was glad they opened the one on Midlothian. I ordered Nachos there and it was so bad, I couldn't eat them. I use to eat them at the Forest Hill location and they were spot on. The nacho meat tasted like dog food. I even let my wife try it just to see if it was only me and she agreed. We called over the waitress to explain to her what the issue was. She just stood there and didn't say anything. We had to tell her we're not paying for this because I didn't eat it. It was almost like she was scared to get the manager. So the manager comes over with an attitude. And basically says, what do you want me to do it's the same chef and recipe that was at Forest Hill. That might be so, but this does not taste right at all. I'm not taking a chance on getting sick. Needless to say we haven't been back! read more

The original O'Tooles over on Forest Hill has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. We were really excited when we saw they opened one up on Midlothian, which is closer to us. So even with Covid going on, we decided to give it a try for lunch. We were very pleased. I had the Rocky Mountain grilled chicken with steak fries, and my wife a salad with onion rings. Everything was great, and the onion rings still remain the best we have ever had. So, Five stars for the food & service (Lacy did a great job for us), but also 5-stars for their Covid protocol. We ate outdoors in their tent area, where they put a new throwaway table cloth on the table before we sat, and clean all the chairs. Masks all around, so it felt very comfortable to be eating out. We were so disappointed in our meal tonight. The crab dip appetizer tasted okay, but wasn't very hot. I had to send my ribs back because they were literally cold. The manager comped the meal, which was appreciated. Prime rib ordered medium rare was well done. The fried shrimp was tasteless and very dense. Even the burger was mediocre at best. I love supporting the local restaurants, but this was a huge disappointment. On a good note our waiter was very good, a polite and efficient young man. Hostess sat us a dirty table, waitress had no business being a waitress and most of the rest of the staff seemed more interested in hanging out at the bar with their friends. Our waitress didnt greet us or tell us her name.. was surprised when we asked her name. Should have asked if we had been here before since it's a new place. We had to ask for silverware and napkins which were on a table across from us but she went hunting for them and came back 3 minutes later. Asked if we wanted ketchup but we didnt order anything that would require ketchup.. asked if we needed a box which yes we did then brought us a box and the check.. All I can say is "horrible" I called the establishment and tried to make a reservation. I was told they don't take reservations. When we arrived, I told them we had a party of seven. I was then informed that a party of 10 had a reservation and were expected to arrive soon. I reminded them that they don't take reservations. They had no logical response. The website advertised 'buy one burger, get one half off'. Was informed when we got the check that this O'Tooles did not honor that special. All the O'Toole's are owned by the same person, the one on 60 does not follow the other's service and specials! My husband had two martini's. Each one took about 20 minutes to make and serve to him. Fantastic pub with some great traditional food items. Stopped in while on business since I was staying nearby. I found the Sheppard pie to be perfectly seasoned and to be a great portion. My associate had a burger which he also enjoyed. Also good to note that they have a wide choice of beer. My only complaint would be that it can be a little loud at times. They may want to put some soft materials inside to absorb some of the excess sound. read more

We have been to the original OTooles many times. The new one has some kinks to iron out. I ordered a salad advertised with a balsamic vinaigrette. Fine by me, even though the server asked me what dressing I wanted. I said the balsamic was fine. Imagine my surprise when the salad arrived, not with the balsamic vinaigrette but with some cloyingly sweet Asian dressing! And not only was it the wrong dressing, the salad was DRIPPING in it. Ugh. It was awful. I will continue to patronize the original one and try this new location In a few years. read more

Service is good. Food is bad. Obviously this establishment makes it's money from alcohol sales and fans coming for the artists who play there. Don't bother with the fish and chips. At least that's what it was called on the menu. It's more batter than fish. And the tartare sauce that is provided, there is no explanation on what is in it. You might want to avoid the onion rings also. They are tasteless rings encased in a bland and odd colored batter that has a strange aftertaste. I was really looking forward to enjoying a good evening and start to the weekend. But hey, I spent good money to learn that this place is not any better than Burger King..... read more

The waitress , Annie, she may be new as she didn't know the menu. I don't want to assume. This is our third time here, the food has been good all three times. The cooks are great there. The issue is the service all three times - we have had pretty terrible servers. The first server was absent minded and messed up our drink and food orders. I cast it off to having a bad day or off day as we all have them. The second visit was a tad better with the server and being friendly. Date night should be enjoyed and service should be great as you want customers to return. This last time was unacceptable - the waitress did not greet us she was very cold and asked what we wanted to drink. She was very short with us - she didn't ask us how the food was or if we needed anything. She did ask us if we wanted more drinks. I think we can spend our money in better ways then on this place. I was very unhappy when we didn't get a thank you a bye or any kind of word at the end of our meal. I guess I should have known I was wasting my time looking for one. She left us both with a bad vibe and these days we can spend our money elsewhere where people are warm and welcoming. read more

It's been a while since I have reviewed here. We prefer the weekdays for the lunch specials but today was Sunday brunch specials. The prices seemed good for the specials for the amount of food you would get. We opted for sandwiches off the regular menu which were a little high but that's true of most everywhere. It was at capacity but didn't seem like people were waiting too long for tables. The table behind us complained about just about everything they got and the server kept her cool better than I could have. Glad that we are living in a safer world than a year ago. We had never been to either location but had heard good things and wanted to check out this location. There is plenty of parking. The space is pretty new and upon walking in there is a bar area to the right with table seating and then to the left is regular seating. We were seated quickly as we ate at one of the tabletops starts the bar. They have a really good beer selection with a wide variety. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife ordered the chicken fingers. We also got some onion rings. I have a garlic allergy and the staff were nice about checking to make sure my order did not have any garlic. The onion rings were delicious and both of our meals were good. Always heard good things about this place so was excited they opened up a location right where I live. Placed my order around 8pm through Door Dash, with an estimated delivery time of 45-50 mins. A little late but willing to wait since I wanted to try & wasn't starving. Almost an hour later, I receive a text msg from Door Dash saying my Dasher has arrived at the restaurant and waiting to pick up my order. Fifteen minutes later, I received a text message & email from O'Toole's informing me that my order can no longer be fulfilled and is cancelled. Will not be ordering from them again. read more

Disappointed. Been to the original 100+ times over the years. Soggy tomatoes for our sandwiches. Inedible pickle. Lukewarm food. Not totally cooked fries. This review is for the newest O'Tooles, located in Midlothian. We have been huge fans of O'Tooles in Forest Hill - especially the great food and ambience, so we decided to go check out the new place. The decor is new but maintains a unique O'Tooles Irish appreciation. The restaurant is decorated with the coats of arms of various families, and there is a large inviting bar. I follow the Keto diet and was able to maintain by ordering the grilled chicken and broccoli which was excellent..my husband had his usual fish and chips which he savored and had enough to take home. Our server Emily was terrific; on time with food and drinks and checked back more then a few times, very friendly too. Tom O'Toole himself was there and greeted us warmly...we can't wait for March when hopefully they will have "the wake". read more

My family and I went to O'Tooles today for dinner. Upon arriving our hostess seated us underneath a bar top table. No where close of being 6 feet apart. Meaning if the couple were to cough or sneeze it would be all over our food and all over us. When I approached the hostess about moving to another table. She made it seem like it was an issue since we would then be switching waitresses. We insisted on moving due to COVID. Not even 5 minutes later she tried to seat ANOTHER couple in the same spot (they refused to sit there too). Ultimately a family with a small child was placed at the table. This behavior made it seem like this company did not care about the customers health and well-being. read more
