Perks of working at a Dental office, get invited to events hosted by other offices…read more Thanks to the doctors of VOFS for providing the opportunity to be here, enjoy food n drinks and mingle with different people. The staff was helpful and friendly and attentive! I definitely will come back with my husband for date night!

I've followed this brewery on social media for a few months and have noticed their pictures consistently feature pours with an inordinate amount (2-3") of head on them. As someone who absolutely hates foam, I asked up front for no head. The bartender winced and explained they had to pour that way or they'd get in trouble because the ownership "wants the aroma expressed." I was taken aback...not only by the total lack of regard for the customer but for levying that threat against an employee. I was waiting to meet someone somewhere else for dinner, and put aside my disdain and capitulated as I didn't want anyone getting in trouble over a beer. So, I figured I'd make the most of things out on the patio. Alas, you can't take glass out in the patio, only plastic cups. What?!? If this were a college bar on a Friday night, sure - pour into plastic. But happy hour in Midlothian? The bartender did say they could pour no foam for a plastic cup though, which I thought was funny - they're so precious about their beer the foam is mandatory, but yeah, just dump it in plastic for the patio. All in all, a negative experience and one I won't repeat. My advice is to give the customer what they want, don't threaten employees, and eat the cost of a few broken glasses. To be clear: I get the notion of aromas and such, but this isn't Russian River or Alchemist, or even The Veil (none of which have foam mandates). I could even understand if they were busy (I was the only one ordering), but I wouldn't have asked for a longer pour under those circumstances. The beers are average regionals and customer service and good treatment of employees are non-negotiables. I hope ownership sees this and chills out; the person who pays for the beer dictates the pour, not you.

I have had soooo many wonderful experiences at Wood & Iron which is why I keep giving them a chance…read morebecause it could easily just be a bad day, but their menus are changing, the service is shifting (not in a positive direction), portions are smaller & prices are the same. This used to be a place where you'd have to wait for a table every time, but now the restaurant is half empty and I see why! When I was ordering my food our server was slightly rude & I was taken aback (but you never want someone to spit in your food so I ignored it lol). As I was ordering my food she repeated my wing order to me as she was typing it in, but she did not acknowledge the fact that I asked for all flats so I said all flats again & her response was an "I heard" under her breath which others at my table noticed the rudeness associated with it as well. The wings visibly looked different but fine, however once I started moving them around, I noticed they were dry & chewy like they were over-fried, but normally when I get them they are moist with a slight char from being grilled even tough they are dry rubbed. The loaded baked potato I was a shock to me..a lot more cheese than potato and it was cold. I'm simply very unsatisfied. I took my food home with me & ended up just throwing it all away. They've still got the best blue cheese though, hope that doesn't change! I've got lots of points to use so I'm going to just try a different location & pray. My two times at Short Pump have been better than the last six-eight months at Midlo.

Service was attentive, organized, and pretty quick for such a large party. Open layout with plenty of seating, so it felt comfortable even with a group our size. It's a Vietnamese spot, so if that's your vibe I could see it being a good place to check out. I normally order Pho , which was pretty decent, and also tried the dumplings. The dumplings weren't really my thing, but the menu is huge and has a-lot to choose from. Overall, based on this first experience, it's probably not a place I'd personally go out of my way to recommend, but if you enjoy Vietnamese food and are looking for a solid spot to grab a bite, it could be worth trying.

I wasn't feeling drinks, so I only got food food. We shared an order of Fresh Spring Rolls and each got a bowl of Pho. I typically get Bun Bo Hue at a Vietnamese restaurant, but they didn't have it. I settled with Pho Sate after looking through Yelp pictures, and it did not disappoint! I finished every drop of the broth as it was hitting so hard. The broth is both flavorful and spicy, which I love :) The service was pretty great. I wish they gave me more napkins because I was crying with my nose eating Pho Sate. I love the decorations and how the restaurant is set up. I'd love to be back here next time I visit Richmond.

I absolutely adore the Cask Cafe!…read more ***LOCATION*** The Cask Cafe is located in The Fan. It's down Robinson St not far from Pizza & Beer of Richmond. There is free street parking around and it's not too hard to find. It's also close to the 5 bus. ***EXPERIENCE*** I don't come here often, but when I do I adore it. They have the absolute best sausages in town. If you're going to get anything, order the panini with kielbasa and your pick of melted cheese. It's heaven. If you're a beer person, you're in for a treat. They have so many types to pick from. There is outdoor and indoor seating. When the weather is nice, they open the windows and let a great breeze in. The people who work here are really cool and kind. If you can't do a cheese dish, order the Full Cask, that way you can try another incredible sausage and an assortment of goodies. ***PRICE*** They have great prices here. It's affordable and worth it for their beer and sausages. ***BATHROOM*** They have single mixed gendered bathrooms here. ***CONCLUSION*** If you're looking for good beer, good food, and a good time The Cask Cafe is a great place for you. It's super casual and a wonderful, cozy spot. I highly recommend checking it out.
