I came in for Lunch and ordered the Dublin burger and it was cooked as requested Medium and tasted very good. They do have Mustard but you have to ask for it, and it is yellow mustard. I would return again. read more

Come on this is a great live music venue. Super Friendly. The vibe and the music is top shelf and so was the whiskey.

We had a good time on our first visit to Rare Olde Times. It had true pub vibes, a rarity. Food was good, beers were poured well. There is a kids menu too, so for our three little ones that was a good surprise. The reason I knocked one star off is that the service was inconsistent though it wasn't very busy when we got there early on a saturday evening (we showed up before 5). It was my husband's birthday so we decided to get dessert too. Our server described a milky way cake they had (like a milky way bar but in a cake) and we ordered a slice to share with the table but fifteen minutes later desserts finally came out and it was a cup with angel food cake, whipped cream and fruit instead? we asked, is this the milky way cake? and the waitress delivering said yes and walked away. We just ate it but it wasn't what was described to us, so I think they must have been out of the cake and given us something else without saying but just tried to pull it off? Strange. After we got the desserts we didn't get checked in on again and had to flag down a different waitress when we couldn't see ours for our check so we could leave. read more

I have only been to this location twice but I love it! I hope to be a regular visitor. They have great atmosphere and decor for an Irish pub. They have Irish beer on draft... a fantastic red!!!! The food we had was very good and the service is good. The staff are super friendly! They have live music several nights a week plus when there is no music they have several tvs with soccer or baseball on. I bet this place would be great to be at for a world cup soccer game! The place is located in a strip mall area with plenty of parking. Definitely get reservations if you are going on a night with a popular local band! I probably go twice a month. I have lived in Richmond for about 3 years. The food is good, band was great. The bartender was the worst I have had in my 50 years. We had a table of 6, the first drinks were great, probably a different bartender, drinking Old Fashioned. The second round, the Old Fashioned were fizzy. The told our server, they were wrong. The bartender actually came to the table, told us she knew what she was doing, and then told us the ingredients, and said lemon lime soda. Old Fashioned's don't fizz!!! Told us she was charging us anyway. We stopped ordering drinks, and food. Rare Olde Time lost money. 6 people, 2 drinks at least, and food. I have never been spoken too that way in 50 years. The menu has awesome entrees! I meet friends there usually once a month. Most recently I had a Rachel sandwich with onion rings. It couldn't have been better. The wait staff is outstanding! The Irish pub atmosphere is most enjoyable. Although I do not have a TV , I find myself watching their fine flat screens. They have several! Sometimes there is live music! read more

First time here, and won't be the last. We were planning on going to the Lily Pad (see my other review) but it started to rain. Sooo, I randomly picked this place. In part based on the yelp reviews. This is a 25 min drive from my house and well worth it. If this place was closer, I would be here 2-3x's a week. The service is very good and extra friendly- the bartender knew everyone. A lot of regulars which is a good sign. The Country Club of Virginia (golf course) is 2 miles away and a bunch of golfers showed for the after game drink. We had the pretzels to start and they didn't disappoint. Wife had the Reuben and I the Philly cheese and it was one of the better Philly's I've had. The sauces are made in house and the ranch was as thick as blue cheese. I recommend the "Lost coast Tangerine wheat." Beer on tap. Tasty.. Cozy. Good number of high tops. Good decor so long as you don't mind things Irish. read more

We've passed this pub 1000 times and finally took the time to try it. Now I'm pissed I waited so long to do it. Truly a one-of-a-kind gem. I love the Irish pub atmosphere and this place delivers. Personable, not a cookie cutter type chain restaurant. We had a scotch egg for a starter and it was to die for! Never had one before but will definitely order it again. And while we just had sandwiches they were both hot and delicious! My bride had the Irish dip corn beef sandwich and I had a turkey sandwich with caramelized onions and cranberry sauce. Even the french fries were on point! We enjoyed a Guinness and Harp Pilsner. Two gentlemen named Doug & Gibby took very good care of us. We had been trying to get here for brunch since the Irish festival. The Scotch Eggs and Rueben Egg Rolls are to die for, especially the egg rolls. Well, we finally made it to brunch today! The service was on point and the food was excellent (I brought some rolls and eggs home with me). We both had the full Irish Breakfast (I took the part of the plate that my gal didn't care for)! I'm glad I didn't tell her what was in the black pudding before she tried it, she didn't care for it but if she had known I don't think she would have even tried it. I've been coming here once a week since I moved to Virginia a year and a half ago. I wish I could leave 4 stars and give something slightly negative to say but I really can't. First of all, the wait staff are the nicest people you could want to meet: Katie, David, Raleigh, occasionally Becky are the only ones I've ever interacted with. Not only are they extremely friendly and good staff, if you're even semi regular, they will learn your likes and preferences immediately. If an order comes out slightly incorrectly there is never even a hint of attitude or annoyance about the situation - they just fix it...with a smile...every time. Some might worry about "pub food" and not having an experienced chef back in the kitchen because they are just pumping out fried stuff and apps...not the case. Everything I've had they cook perfectly. It's the best BLT I've ever had, the tacos are always rotating and delicious, best fries in Richmond IMO. It'd be cool to see a wider variety of specials would be the only thing I'd wish for. this place is hands down-lights out the best pub or bar around. Make it a regular stop if you enjoy the irish pub theme atmosphere. read more
