Horrible customer service. Manager purposely skip sitting my party for other people who arrived after us. Had me sign in then proceeded to sit others who arrived after my party without signing in. Two other groups had similar amount of people as mine but got seated right away. No apology from manager at all. Told me to wait he'll have a table. No accountability for bad service. I never leave reviews but thought people should know about this experience before it be comes theirs. O' Sushi has become the unofficial sushi spot for our family ever since Covid-19 lockdowns. The previous places are either closed or wouldn't deliver to our addresses. O'Sushi is consistent in the quality of their food and service. We normally would call in and pick up, but on our most recent trip they were not answering the phone. In those cases, I recommend using Door Dash. Our go to rolls are the Ichiban, Spider, Tempura, Alaska, Red Dragon, California, 49ers and the #1. This is a good mix of rolls if you're trying to appease a family or group of people with diverse tastes regarding Sushi. The service is usually very fast; most times our order is ready about 45 min after requesting. The food is always fresh and O'Sushi will continue to be our go to place for Sushi. read more

I've ordered from O'Sushi for dinner before, but today I ordered lunch for the first time and was stunned (in a good way!) at the amount of food they give you for $15 when you order the 3-item bento on DoorDash. For my items, I chose (1) sashimi (five pieces), (2) a California roll (six pieces), and (3) chicken teriyaki . I received these, plus a mound of rice, a single serving of miso soup, and a side salad. The chicken teriyaki portion in particular was super generous - I was expecting maybe 4-5 pieces total, but there's gotta be at least two, maybe three chicken thighs' worth of chicken in here. It's not the best Japanese food I've ever had, but it's totally acceptable (and generous!) at this price point from a sushi restaurant in the East Bay. I'll be ordering from here again. read more

I have enjoyed O'Sushi since they've opened. I try other local ones but always go back here. Unfortunately prices everywhere are climbing, and same for here. Sushi is still amazing, my favorite is the A's Roll or the Mori awasi. We ordered the salmon teriyaki dinner (photo attached), unfortunately it fell short of good today. This sushi joint in the East bay is one of the best sushi places I have ever been at. I have been a regular since maybe 2016. My top favorite is the #1 roll. That sushi lives up to its name for sure. There are several other dishes as well that I love. Love the creamery ice cream they get from local. Definitely try different rolls and see which is your favorites . I frequent MandRo next door and I noticed that this O' Sushi would always have a lot of patrons so I decided to check it out and boy am I glad I did. First you are warmly greeted by the host and seated. After ordering you are brought a complimentary appetizer like gyoza and post dinner you get complimentary ice cream. The rolls here are pretty big and they give you bigger portions compared to other sushi joints. Everything tasted fresh and they were generous with the sauce on the special rolls, I know that isn't everyones cup of sake but that's the way I like my special rolls. I love the atmosphere of this place because they have plenty of booth seating which is great because it gives you plenty of privacy which I actually prefer when dining out. I guess you could say I'm a fan of this place, I'd definitely come back to dine in but for now I suggest you order takeout or door dash from this place to support them during this time. read more

Ordered three items bento for takeout at lunch time. Saba comes in several pieces and is dry, as if leftovers from last night. Salmon has no taste. Sashimi is ok. Rice also seems leftovers and is dry. Probably not give you leftovers if you sit down at the restaurant We have been regular customers for takeouts and sit down since restaurant is five minutes from our house, although foods have been degrading these few years, But give me leftovers foods this time for take out is the last straw. Unassuming from the outside, this place does not disappoint. Opening at 4:30 pm, (lunch too I believe) you probably won't be the first in line. Friendly greetings from the staff as you enter, and you will be seated very quickly. Unless they have a wait of course. Complementary edamame are served giving you time to look over the menu. They have a good combination of different appetizers sushi and grilled items... Including the Galbi Ribs that we love :-) Our favorite rolls are the "Kiss of Fire" and the "Red Dragon". Both a little spicy and a lot of tastiness! TV screens throughout on silent, otherwise it hasn't been too noisy the few times we've been there. Small place but fast service. We were sat as soon as we walked in and had menus ready at the table. There were two servers today and it seemed liked they worked as a team both willing to help with anything we needed. Once we ordered we got our soup and salads within minutes. The sushi rolls and appetizers followed right after. The Green valley roll was great, fresh and very well seasoned. The spicy tuna roll was not bad either, It came hot and spicy with a crunch on the outside. The appetizer tempura was really well fried and the veggies were soft in the inside. We all got a bento box or charbroiled entrees. It was a decent size meal but for some reason they wanted to charge us $3 more if we got the same option twice on the bento box. I had to order different things with teriyaki chicken so I can mix and match myself. I didn't get what the problem was but o well. The main entrees were not bad but also didn't wow us. We'd be come back for the Green Valley roll more than the entrees. All and all we were satisfied this Sunday afternoon. read more

4/26/20 Open during the Covid-19 SIP Mandate. I have been wanting to try O'Sushi in Newark long before the Covid-19 SIP Mandate. They are quite popular in our area and always so busy with the line usually out the door and spilling onto the sidewalk. Yesterday was our wedding anniversary and my husband felt so bad about not being able to celebrate with a nice dinner out, he decided to pick up my favorite...SUSHI! We ordered: 30 piece sashimi, a spider roll, a tuna tower and a 3 item bento box with beef teriyaki, chicken katsu and tempura for my son who doesn't like sushi. I can now see why so many people love O'Sushi. The sushi was good quality, very fresh and delicious. It was more than enough food for 4 people. I would definitely return to O'Sushi in the near future. Hopefully one day we can eat there and try their Omakase. read more

This is weird. This is the one sushi place I would recommend you get a cooked entree over the sushi. And if you know me, I'm a huge sushi guy! I highly recommend ordered their three-item bento because their portions are quite nice. The salmon teriyaki and the sesame chicken are "fire"! I also ordered rolls like the lion king, #1 roll, and others. They were all fine but I've seen larger rolls in other restaurants in the nearby cities. They do make nice ika (squid) and ama ebi (sweet shrimp) nigiri. The ika is sliced well and lightly torched to make it easy to bite and the ama ebi has the fried head along with it, which to me, is a must. So overall, if you're into sushi rolls, head somewhere else nearby; but if you're craving cooked Japanese food, run those bentos and you can't go wrong! read more

They are definitely not using fresh ingredients. I tried this place 2 years ago and had a bad experience. I thought I'd give them another try in an effort to support local business. Similar experience again. The tuna and chicken had a distinctly peculiar flavor that I recognized as old and not fresh. After placing our order, even when we didn't order an entree, the server brought over complimentary soup AND salad. During our meal, she brought out complimentary gyoza too. And at the end of our meal, yup you guessed it, complimentary dessert too. I mean, c'mon! How many times do I have to say 'complimentary' until you're convinced that they really know how to take care of their customers? Insane! I come here just for 2 things that have, over time, become my go-to comfort foods: the sesame chicken and the Loki roll. I wish I could say sesame chicken was a true Japanese staple, but if you've been to any kind of Japanese restaurant, you'd know that's not true. Still, the blend of battered chicken with sesame sauce somehow always brings my taste buds a true treat. But the real draw of O'Sushi, to me, is their Loki roll. It's a unique roll I've yet to see anywhere else. It consists of shrimp tempura and show crab on the inside, with katsu-fried unagi on top. In Japanese restaurants in the US, "maki" rolls are pretty much all saturated with the same stuff - Lion King, dragon, caterpillar, etc. But the Loki roll was creative, one-of-a-kind, and as someone who loves shrimp tempura, snow crab, and unagi, was the perfect blend. So I'll keep coming back for my go-to items. And like a true non-risk taker, will likely not order anything else. And maybe one day, when I'm finally able to meet the person who created this magical Loki roll, I'd just like to shake their hand. I've had a handful of favorite spots around the Bay Area but not only is this location just down the street from me, but it's become my favorite sushi spot, ever. However, We were deeply disappointed with our order. We ordered the 3 item bento and the Sunomono w/octopus salad. The chicken katsu was bland, no taste at all. And we counted 8 tiny pieces of octopus in our salad (see picture). It was covered with cucumbers. If you pay $7.95 for the salad, you'd expect to receive more octopus (or does the cucumber cost more than $5 now?). We get it, everyone is doing their best these days but really?
