Amazing little sushi restaurant and so close to home. Located in the Seafood city plaza, next to Popeyes and boba spot. Sake Specials on Wednesday/Thursdays & Saturdays. Also Ramen specials advertised daily. Saw ramen and tempura for $15. -It's quaint with about 10 tables inside. Busy on a Friday night but only Waited about 5 minutes for a seat for 2. Once we sat down, 2 friendly ladies were waitressing. One of them checked on us promptly & got our orders. The other lady served us The miso soup/salad. Sushi also arrived quickly. The bento box with main entrees arrived about 2-4 minutes later. Food was really good. We enjoyed all of it. Would definitely come back again.

By far my favorite Japanese restaurant! The food is delicious & in very generous portions, the small Japanese style dividers between the table and the communal bench along with the Japanese inspired art around the place really brings it all together, it leaves you with a sensation that you just wanna come back. If you like a peaceful experience with good food, you definitely must try Maneki!

Looking for a great sushi spot in union city? Look no further than maneki sushi. I started off with green tea and then after that we had chicken kaarage which was crispy as well as moist inside. I had the sushi boat to share with a couple of other people and it was more than enough. The sushi boat came with so many various different types of sushi such sashimi and 6 other Types of sushi rolls and they were all exquisite. Maneki sushi seems like a hole in a wall restaurant, but has great service and staff and is very cleanly inside. If you are ever visiting Union city I would recommend maneki sushi.

    Caterpillar and Crunch Shrimp

Superrrrr mid sushi. They put sm rice that it's just tastes gummy. Idk if that makes sense. But if you've had good sushi it's not this. No wonder they're relatively cheap. I ordered the caterpillar and the crunch shrimp. I was pretty disappointed. I could only eat about a half from each roll, until it made me feel kinda gross. I wanna support this restaurant but they need to increase the standard of their food. Retrain the chef.

It was definitely better before. I had tried this place twice. The green tea fragrance is still good as before. This time I ordered lunch combo and seafoood udon for mom. The soup of the udon and miso soup were very salty. The combo was good. I was too hungry to take pics and didn't want to take leftover. Sashimi wasn't fresh but ok. Udon wasn't attract my attention since it showed up plain look. The server was very nice and attentive. It was a quiet place for quick lunch.

It was good. Nothing bad but also nothing special. Good service and good prices. Very basic menu which I like, not overwhelming like some Japanese places can be.

    Bento box (tempura)

I'm a bento box girl and the bento boxes here are GENEROUS. I used DoorDash to order for pick up on a Sunday evening. Quick and easy process: ordered on my phone and it was ready in the 15-20 min it took for me to drive here. I went with the chicken teriyaki + tempura + gyoza for $15. Maybe it looked extra generous because it was takeout and therefore given in 3 separate boxes. Still, it felt like a lot of food. Lots of chicken, big scoop of rice, and a salad in one box. 6 pcs tempura (4 veggie, 2 shrimp) in the next. And 3 pcs gyoza in the last box. Flavor wise, it was prob as good as any other sushi spot. I've had better crispier tempura at other places. The gyoza filling was tasty, though I'll say the sauce it came with didn't add much. Overall, though, still a good meal.

So far everything here is top-tier, but a few absolute standouts: -- The Sushi & Omakase: The fish is incredibly fresh! I honestly don't remember the official name, haha, but it's such an explosion of flavors in one bite; fresh oyster, quail egg, ikura, and green onions all come together so well. SERVICE: 8/10 The staff is always friendly and efficient. They're attentive throughout the meal and quick to help whenever you need something. AMBIANCE: 8/10 A standard sushi restaurant with a comfortable amount of seating. I also like the open kitchen concept, where you can watch the chefs prepare the sushi.

I ordered the deluxe mazemen. It has a slight kick of spice from the spicy minced pork but nothing too crazy. I love how flavorful their mazemen is and especially love how creamy it gets after mixing the poached egg with the noodles. Their soft boiled egg is always cooked beautifully as well with a jammy yolk. I love adding vinegar to my mazemen for the acidity. Tried some of the mentaiko mazemen as well which wasn't bad but I definitely preferred my deluxe mazemen by a landslide. Thought the raw mixed greens didn't really complement the dish that well in my opinion. They give a small scoop of rice at the end to soak up the remaining sauce. Rice was on the soggy end but I personally didn't mind. Would definitely come back and highly recommend.

It was very flavorful and rich, which was good at the start, but eventually it got too much to finish. I am not used to adding umami vinegar halfway through/towards the end and I felt it made the dish not as good, so I'm glad I didn't add a lot of it. The portion size was great and most definitely can be shared if you aren't too hungry and want to also eat appetizers too. I would try another dish again in person.

We were led to our seats and once we were given the menu, we started studying it meticulously. I got the HINODEYA "House" Ramen, my wife got the Beef Bowl "Gyudon", and our friend got a ramen with katsu in it. They asked me if I wanted my ramen mild, medium or hot in spiciness. I went with the medium option. I enjoyed my ramen. The broth was well made but I didn't notice much difference between the wheat noodle they've used versus normal noodle used in other shops. The portion was not big for its price and I was about 80% full from the bowl. When I tasted a bite of my wife's beef bowl, boy was I disappointed. They added way too much sauce and honestly I can't say this dish is good. The beef wasn't cut in the traditional way in how a gyudon should be and it turned out a little bit thicker which is a little weird for me. I would compared it to a Yoshinoya and the irony is that I actually like the beef bowl from Yoshinoya better at half the price? lol. Our friend shared a little bit of her katsu with us and we thought it was way too dry. Perhaps it's been sitting at the heat lamp for way too long... Overall, what I feel about Hinodeya is that they've definitely have some unique ideas in their dishes but the execution and consistency still needs to be worked on. I noticed that there were 4 different spicy level and I was a little curious as to what they were. It wasn't until I asked the waiter that they explained them to us. I was a little puzzled because this seems to be what they wanted to push but we just weren't told to us in our visit until way later... It's a 50/50 whether I'll come back or not. I think there are definitely improvements for a good ramen spot that people would crowd upon in the bay area for sure.

Upon my arrival the kind host greeted me immediately and allowed me to take a seat. I was unsure of what to order and I had asked the host what to get and he positioned for me to try the coconut miso ramen and lemme tell you it was honestly one of the best bowls of ramen I've had. The broth was incredibly rich and velvety, with the coconut adding a subtle natural sweetness that complemented the deep umami of the miso instead of overpowering it. It created a balanced, layered flavor that was both comforting and surprisingly refined. Every spoonful had depth, and the broth was so good that I found myself wanting to finish every last drop. The noodles had an excellent texture, firm with just the right amount of chew--allowing them to hold onto the broth beautifully. The toppings were fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and blended seamlessly with the overall dish, adding texture and flavor without distracting from the star of the bowl. What impressed me most was how harmonious everything tasted. Fusion flavors can sometimes feel forced, but this ramen was exceptionally well executed. The coconut and miso worked together to create something unique while still respecting the traditional character of ramen. If you're looking for a bowl that's comforting, flavorful, and a little different from the usual tonkotsu or shoyu, I can't recommend the Coconut Miso Ramen at Tadamasa highly enough. It's the kind of meal that stays on your mind long after you've finished eating, and I'll definitely be coming back for it.
