I bought an engine from Howard's that was "guaranteed" to run. If not, they take it back. I got…read morethere to pick it up and it's covered in old oil caked all over it from top to bottom. I took the guys word that said it ran when they took it out of the car it was in that had a bad transmission. I paid my mechanic to take my existing engine out and put the "guaranteed to run" engine in only to find it didn't run and couldn't have before removing it from the original car. I know this because it had 3 of the 4 spark plugs completely burned up and two sensors not working. Once he got it running we found the water pump was leaking and the timing belt was making noise...so several shop hours later and $$$ in parts we finally have a engine that runs. We drive it home and check the oil daily for the first few days to find that it is getting lower each passing day with no sign of leaks. Turns out it's burning oil! Howard's said take it out and bring it back which sounds great except I've already paid to have the old engine removed, the "guaranteed" one put in and several hundred in parts and labor put into it. If only they'd have told me the truth from the beginning I could have replaced several of the parts and rebuilt it before installing it saving me hundreds of dollars or continued shopping for something that met my needs. They made a couple hundred off of me but I guarantee it will be the last money they make off of me. And I do stand behind my guarantee! Beware of these crooks. I won't recommend them to anyone!
