We were so glad we went, it was an outstanding meal. The restaurant is not large and mainly has seating for 2. Other reviews complained about waits, but it would be worth it. We ate early and were lucky to arrive when another couple was leaving. Service was quick and very friendly--and like many places here they spoke good English. They do not have a wide drink list, but we had a bottle of the house wine that was really good and complemented food perfectly. For appetizers, we had bread basket, miss cheese, and the caprese. Get the bread basket if you get either. I had not heard of that cheese but it was great, semi-soft with a nice flavor. The caprese salad was nice also, fresh tomato's and mint as opposed to basil. For the main course, I had the seafood paella that was served in a hot pan right from the stove. This was excellent with rich saffron flavor and a nice mix is seafood--the calamari and mussels were particularly good. I loved it. With the said, my wife's sea bass might have been better. The whole fish was served, nice and fresh. It was cooked and flavored absolutely perfectly. The skin was crisp while the fish was moist and just melted in your mouth. Completely wonderful. It came with potatoes and some steamed vegetables, a superb dish. Definitely worth a visit!

Very small and local. Very inexpensive. Service was very nice. Definitely a step up from the many…read more"tourist restaurants" with people urging you in and plastic food pictures a few blocks away. We especially liked the soup, bread, and wine. Nothing fancy but good.

What I wrote down in my draft when I was here a couple months ago (I'm still catching up) : "now…read more*that* is some good squid" - I'd had exceptionally mediocre squid for lunch the previous day, from a place that was also supposed to be good (it was the opposite). Squid here was delicious, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and a bunch of it. Great potatoes to go with it, too. I'd eat here every day if I could. The "couvert" was fish pate from a tin, not made in-house, but it's Portugal, so the tinned fish was still great, obviously. The olives with it were just ok, but the bread was great. I was also happy that they did, indeed, understand that we were going to share it, but only wanted a couvert plate serving for one (I hadn't been sure.) I was a little sad my wife really wanted red meat that day, so we couldn't get the seafood sampler platter for 2, but her pork chop was also great, I know because it was also huge, so I ended up eating like a third of it. Also perfectly cooked and seasoned, and it did go great with fries. The fries were also great, too, super freshly made and perfectly crispy, though the one downside, everything else but the fries were ready super quickly, then the fries showed up after we were about halfway done eating the rest of it. Definitely freshly cooked, though! Also unlike the place the previous day that served us exceptionally mediocre squid the previous day, they also sell very affordable wines here. They have a good number of extremely reasonably priced half-bottles of all types, but we didn't need a whole half-bottle of wine, so I just got a glass of the house white, which was, at least as of a couple months ago, only 2.5 euros! Seriously, I'd come here all the time if I could.I wish I had gotten to try everything on the menu.

Most fishes also come with a side of boiled potatoes lightly salted (see picture of sardines). It's a classic European restaurant on the inside with many small tables inside with a few on the patio. Staff were overall very pleasant with a constant stream of staff members bringing food and checking in. As we were travelers and do not know much Portuguese at all, they still made us feel welcome and had good English language skills.

Delicious food, beautifully served, and if you are sharing a dish, they offer to plate the two halves in the kitchen before bringing it out, which is so much nicer than being given a "share plate" of a smaller size, as is so often done in the US. Waitstaff is warm and knowledgeable-- I trusted their wine recommendation and was very pleased. There are also some surprise bonuses/gifts that come with the meal! While it is not a touristy place, English does seem to be the main language spoken by those dining.

Lots of space but many of the 2 seater table face in a direction of no view of the room. Can I mention the "walk" here was monumental ? Insanely steep and up up up. A Bolt back was reasonable enough not to miss this place if you are not close by. We walked from near the Baixa/Chiado station. The food, absolutely superb. Exactly what I would expect what a Michelin Star venues would serve. Service exceptional. I think that the highly regarded Roasted Eggplant with Miso Caramel & Pistachio was one of the best dishes of my life, and I am not always a fan of eggplant. This was a firm block of roasted eggplant with a volcano like coating of this insanely crazy umami-sweet-decadent sauce. Honestly, if we lived here I would frequent just for this as an entrée and not share it one bit. For mains, we shared the duck leg confit, barley & mushrooms and the black pork neck, shrimp, white beans and coconut milk. Dessert for Lee was the eucalyptus and also the basil mint ice creams and mine, which makes me giddy, was a chocolate soup (was like a think pudding) with peanuts and passion fruit daquiri mousse..topped with pop rocks. The food here is a work of art without being fussed over, imaginative and well executed. Unsure how anyone could fault one aspect at all other than the uncozy atmosphere in the rooms without a fabric chair or couch. Highly recommended !!
