We ordered a few items from that menu and also the Feature of the Day: Mug of Prawns $8.00 4/5 stars Simple as it looks, this is way much better then most of the AYCE buffets that also features hand peeled shrimps, the shrimps here tasted sweet and has a nice texture! Salt & Pepper Dry Ribs $8.00 4/5 stars Your regular Pub Fare, done right can be dangerous, as you can't stop munching on these delectable morsels of crunchy savoury goodness! Perfect for your beer! They have finally reopened during covid! We ordered takeout for dinner. They quoted 10 minutes for pick up which was amazing considering they had a lineup (due to limited dine in capacity). We ordered the dry ribs, buttermilk fried chicken burger with fries and the feature pie which was steak and guinness. It was ready for pick up at 10 minutes and piping hot. Everything was delicious. The dry ribs were AMSR crispy. The meat pie was amazing. So flakey and hearty. It was full of steak chunks and no fatty bits or veggie fillers. The sauce was so yummy. We dunked the fries in it lol. The buttermilk fried chicken was crispy. The coleslaw was a great complement to the buttermilk chicken. What was funny was the meat pie came in a glass/coringware bowl not a tin pan or anything so we now have an extra bowl at home lol. Great pub food. Not the usual gross overly fried or seasoned bar food. Covid considerations: All the staff were wearing face shields, and tables were properly sanitized. Friendly neighbourhood pub near the historic Steveston district. No, this place isn't named after the airport in Chicago Parking is available in the lot out front, but it fills up. In that case, there is parking along No.1. The pub is your typical Irish themed establishment, with sports on all of the TV screens. There is a cool vintage 1980s arcade in the corner, with several coin-op machines. Staff were friendly, but a bit too sparse. Had a bit of trouble waving down staff. The Dublin steak 'n' Guinness pie I had wasn't so much a beer-infused pie, as it was a steak pie with a shot of Guinness next to it. It was served with fries, and some mashed potatoes. While the taste was decent, I have to drop the review by 1 star over the severe lack of value. The bowl containing the pie is about 1/3 air. Once you break the crust and see the pieces suddenly collapse inwards, you'll see the huge gap. What a disappointment. See photo. The beer I had (Old Yale Sasquatch Stout) was $7 for a pint. Yikes. So much for a beer special. I spent over $25 and left hungry. Not too happy. Literally went to McDonald's right after. Nice neighbourhood pub, with a decent Happy Hour menu from 3 - 6 pm. Lots of locals congregate here, and parking is frequently a nightmare even with a large lot. I recommend parking on Railway if the lot looks full. Food is standard pub fare. Serving staff are very friendly. read more

My husband and I enjoy coming here because of the good food and craft beers on tap. They have a great rotation of craft beers from local breweries. There are also weekly food specials, and their food is tasty and delicious unlike most pubs or bars. I highly recommend their beef dip, it is served on a brioche bun with hand cut fries or salad if you prefer a healthier option. The staff are super friendly and attentive. I've been eating wings on Wednesdays at the Buck for a while, but today I finally tried them at OHare's because they have a licence that allows me to bring my daughter, a minor, in before 10pm. To be honest, I was disappointed; their wings are more expensive, have less selection for flavours, and were greasy and not the best tasting chicken. The side vegetables (at extra cost and even a dollar for the dips themselves!) were fine but overpriced. We tried the feature dessert (apparently they only feature one dessert per night) which was a microwaved donut with a very small dab of ice cream and a squirt of canned whipped cream. As for their claim of being "the best gastropub in Richmond," this would only be true if no other pubs called themselves a gastropub. This place was packed with customers and the staff were friendly enough, if not completely attentive. Compared to the competing pub in Steveston, The Buck & Ear, I really don't see any comparison as the prices, food, and staff at the Buck are far superior. The best part about OHares? They allow minors in before 10pm. read more

Over the past 6 years I've come here now and then, and I guess I've had the stroke of good luck on my shoulders to be presented with decent pub grub. Our last meal here for lunch was with Mum and some friends. Of course brought my JFC (Japanese Food Critique). She ordered a big burger with bluecheese and onion rings and the first thing she does before biting into the tempatious bun topped patty was snap a billion photo's of it. Mum had the stuffed Yorkshire pudding with prime rib and gravy. How did this picky Hayashi like it? MMMMM and some thumbs up with a stuffed face of beefy happiness. My goodness. Mom likes pub food? Yeah, it figures. She's all about comfort food and if you like comfort food, then I guess "ya gotta eat here" I'm always liking the pies, meat pies that is. You know, the Guiness type pies with mushy peas and gravy. Real English /Scottish type food. I've gotta come more often with mum. The food is fun. read more

One of my favourite Irish pubs, this place is always busy. Whenever you have a craving for bar food, this is the place to go! Service is very decent and there's plenty of space here for lots of people. During the day it's a little less crowded and equally good. I'd highly recommend it for an after work hang out spot if you're in the neighbourhood. The parking lot can get filled up pretty quick but generally there's ample parking on the street withing a one block radius. read more

My new favourite pub in Richmond. After a very disappoint experience at another local competitor recently I was hoping to find another watering hole to frequent when I am feeling thirsty. Well my hunt ended up here, a pub I have driven by in the past and have never been to before. Came here earlier this afternoon, and decided to have "the hangover" brunch and a beer. The meal consisted with some of my favourites in one, it basically is poutine topped with BBQ pulled pork, two poached eggs and hollandaise. All it needs is maybe some ham and bacon and I'll be in heaven. The pulled pork was delicious and juicy on its own, but to combine that with fries, cheese, and hollandaise?!?! Omg foodgasm. It is much better than I expected. Service was great and their patio is beautiful as well. Based on my experience here today, I will definitely be back. read more

Speedy service. The waitress came around and took our drink orders very quickly and had our drinks on the table before we had a chance to look around. The curry chips were mediocre at best. The fries were dry an the curry sauce was very salty. We also got the veggie platter that for some reason consisted of half tortilla chips and ranch dip + salsa that a hungry dog wouldn't eat. French onion soup had a lot of onions, more than you would normally get at another establishment. The cheese was good and stringy like it should be. A real strange mix of songs playing at this place. But not bad all in all. The waiting staff was awesome though, perhaps the best part of the whole experience. I'd probably go back it I was in the area but I wouldn't make a point of traveling to Steveston for this place. read more

This is one of the first pub's I ever tried in Richmond and I'm happy to say that it is still a favourite. The food is well above average for a neighbourhood bar. I like the blarney stone touch outside....kind of different for that part of Richmond. The service is friendly and relaxed. It's always nice to be able to go to a place, sit down, and relax. It has ample parking, a good atmosphere, and normally doesn't have a wait. Another plus is they own the package store next door. They are open late on most holidays and weekends which makes both places very convenient to stop by. read more

I live close to this bar and hadn't been in for a few years because it has never really impressed me compared to other local bars, However I figured it was time for a return trip recently. Food is overpriced and average at best with small portions of halibut and even smaller portion of chips for $14-Ridiculous. It didn't help there was a guy close by who felt it necessary to talk so loudly that everyone could hear him and every 5th word was the Fshot-not drunk, just a jerk, The wait staff did nothing to tone him down even though he was close to the bar. The pub does not look special when you walk in but you are quickly forced to change your mind! The staff here is wonderful and is always looking to make sure you are very well taken care of. The food here is great with all kinds of different pub fare to choose from. The choices are pretty standard but the taste of the food is not. The bar is a big supporter of the craft beer scene with quite a few choices on the menu on top of the normal Macro Beer swill. My favorite thing about this bar is that on Fridays they bring in a special one off keg. This keg changes week to week and can come from local Metro Vancouver Breweries to BC, Canada and USA breweries. This helps you expand your horizons in the beer universe. Once you start drinking craft beer you do not want to stop at one type you want to try them all! I've lived in the neighbourhood for years but I've never bothered going to O'Hares, partly because it looks sketchy-ish on the outside and partly because when I was in high school, I heard my high school teachers making plans to go. That really takes the cool and interesting out of a place for a newly legal drinker. I'm now a (couple) decades away from that girl and I've noticed a change at O'Hares. It just looks... nicer. Everything about it sounds more interesting. The final straw came when I read on twitter that they were opening a keg of blood orange ale. How do you turn down such a strange sounding ale?! You can't! At least, I can't. My friend texted me to go for coffee and I nudged her to change that to beers then coffee. It was a good choice. The beer was quite bitter but quite good. My friend preferred something with less of a bitter aftertaste. Something apricot on the regular beer menu. It was good but for an apricot beer, I was hoping for something a little sweeter, fruitier. It tastes like a dry apricot cooler. We had potato skins and garlic salt and pepper wings. Both were so good. The wings especially. Crispy on the outside, still moist on the inside. Very good. I want to go during happy hour now and try all the wings! Dinner was beef stroganoff (daily special) and a chicken quesadilla. Good all around. My friend ordered the stroganoff (I'm leery about pub pasta after a really bad experience) but my friend said it was really good. Maybe next time. The quesadilla was good, I just wish there had been guacamole. Didn't diminish the tastiness, just a personal preference. Take care with the parking. There are not many spots; you may have to park on the street. But definitely keep an eye out on Fridays for their special beers. Came here Friday night and ordered a Westcoast Seafood Sandwich with fries. Others at the table ordered a Reuben and pasta. Food was all right but did not have very much flavour. What really struck me was the noise. Fair enough it's an Irish pub on a Friday night, but the place was half empty when we arrived. The talking and television were very, very loud and we had to shout at each other to be heard. The age group was not very diverse, mostly middle-aged white males. The waitresses were not attentive and we went up to pay the bill instead of having it brought to us. Overall, not a bad experience, but there are much, much better Irish pubs. read more

I found the food and service to be really reasonable. Too bad this place doesn't have very stellar reviews because I liked it! I had the Mac and Cheese with fries (caaaaaaaaaaaarbs) and my boyfriend had a burger and fries. Pretty standard pub food, but it was tasty and the portions were huge. I even had leftovers to take home. My boyfriend had to have his burger taken back and replaced and the server was really good and polite about it. Once his new burger came out we both really enjoyed our messy, greasy meals. The pub was sort of busy but there was lots of tables and parking. The atmosphere was friendly and they have a lot of beer choices and specials every day. Dropped in for lunch on a blustery Saturday. I had the fish and chips with mushy peas. The peas were really quite good. The fish was good and the fries were OK. For a place so close to Steveston Village though it, might need a bit of an upgrade to compete. My partner had the goat cheese salad and that was great. I've been to Ohare's a couple of times in the last couple of weeks and I have to say the staff is excellent. I felt that we were well attended to but not bothered. Great people and great training. Oh and 10 craft beers on tap plus all your Irish favourites. What's not to love about that. read more

Food here in general is good but seems over priced for such a dark old place. Well, I am confident myself and my staff are putting the servers through college, because we are here a minimum of once a week for wings on Wednesdays. We come so often, that we don't even need to put a drink order in anymore, they know full well we're the Sommersby crew and drop it as soon as we sit, no matter how busy the place is. So they will likely know who we are based off our review. It gets LOUD sometimes. Sometimes you can barely talk to each other. And I REALLY dislike children in pubs. I go to drink beer and get stupid, not have to watch my tongue around minors. I would remove that policy. There is a reason why some places don't allow minors. Or, have a separate section. There is rarely parking in the actual lot. The liquor store takes up quite a few prime real estate spots which I think is unnecessary considering the amount of traffic to it. I've had a few other items on the menu.. I am not overly impressed with what I have had, but the wings are always spot on. I eat a LOT of wings here. We are actually sponsored by a will not mention pub, but we're treated very well at O'Hares, and will be coming until we're not welcome anymore, or the place gets too busy. read more

Excellent Pub!! I have been to O'Hares many many times over the 20 + years I have lived in the area. Great food and staff! The servers are wonderful and friendly. The manager is awesome and very much a people person. I like that they keep the back room mostly for adults, as we don't all want to sit with little children. ( and we have little children!) I love the library room! Yes, they have a room off to the side with a library theme and a fireplace. It's quieter than the main room, which is good for conversation or maybe reading a book at lunch with a pint. They have free wifi. Fans of the TV show Once Upon a Time will recognize it as the interior of The Rabbit Hole. The menu is classic pub fare done well. Try the steak and Guinness pie. read more

My friends and I regularly go to O'Hares for their Wednesday special (45 cent wings/65 cent buffalo prawns). We had made it a sort of tradition to gather up a group to go every Wednesday, but tonight's experience may have caused my friends and I to never return to O'Hares. After everyone was done eating and plates were being cleared, we have our waitress come up to us with a message from the manager, saying that my friend (who only had a plate of wings, as she'd made a lifestyle choice to not drink), needed to order a drink with her wings. I found this to be quite obtuse on the manager's part. Our group took this in stride and we didn't get mad at the waitress (she's just relaying the message from her manager, after all). Nonetheless, this experience soured our evening. TL;DR: Manager tried to pinch every penny out of our table in the most annoyingly obtuse manner. What if my friend was DD? I live close by and decided to give this joint another attempt. Really I don't understand all of the fuss. This Pub is by any measure remarkably unremarkable. The service was okay I guess. My welcome consisted of " do I know what I want yet" terse perhaps but she was there quickly. Like my first experience the table was sticky and I mean dirty sticky. I didn't have any food but what I saw being served looked unremarkable. 20 minutes after I finished my drink and still no offer for a refill. So I left. The decor is tired and uninviting and the bar is laid out in an awkward configuration. It's all to bad because it's so close and I would very much like to find a neighbourhood pub to call my local, but it won't be O'Hares. read more

Good food terrible service. Sunday evening and there's maybe 15 people in the pub with one guy behind the bar and two waitresses on the floor. We ordered our food which came quickly and hot, after that the service died!! Our waitress spent all her time chatting with the other waitress about her outfit in stead of checking her tables. After receiving our first drinks she never came back to ask us if we wanted refills even though my glass was empty for about 20 minutes!!!
