I just had a LONG lunch at O'Connors (waiting for a rescheduled appointment). I started with a delicious Irish coffee, followed by a spinach salad with hot bacon dressing. Wow! I haven't even seen that on a menu in ages. The service was great and didn't hurry me along. From my table near the door, I witnessed an act of kindness. The person in charge brought in a homeless man, gave him a glass of water, and let him wait for the cops to take him to a hospital. I highly recommend O'Connors and will return for dinner, even though I live in another town. read more

Horrible experience! Very disappointed! I came here for their Fish & Chips. They were so good in the past, but today I don't know what this was. Before I get to the food let me explain my experience up to that point. The restaurant was freezing! They sat me at a dark booth that had a burnt out light bulb. After my food was delivered. I asked for more Ketchup which I never got. I've ordered Fish and Chips from here three times in the past and loved them. This time they just brought me breaded cod with zero flavor. I took a couple of bites and spit it out. I mean this was honestly horrible. I brought it to the girl behind the bar's attention and she proceeds to argue with me that my experience is wrong! I told her I wasn't eating that and she said I could leave and no charge. I couldn't believe it! This place went from a place I'd recommend to a place I will never be back in an instant. Alright. There are many reasons why I think this is worth 5 stars. I love French Onion Soup and Alyssa, our server, and my mother boast that it is the best. First, upon entry, it screams Irish Pub. The hostess seated us quickly in a booth. Second, the music is nice and low enough where you can carry on a conversation. Loud music is a BIG pet peeve of mine. Third...oh, so thankful for Alyssa. When you get her, ask her to tell you a joke. What did the fish say when it hit the wall? Answer is dam. Our 3 appetizers were awesome. The Asian Chicken Wontons are great for the person that doesn't like Irish food. Mom just said that she would drive over for the Fried Portabella Mushrooms. The Irish Coffee was so good that I had 2. Decaf please. Waiting for the French Onion Soup and I am sure I won't be disappointed. Update: about that French Onion Soup...they didn't have the ingredients to make it. It is OK Alyssa is such the comedian that she should do standup comedy. This was the highlight of our night to cap off a great vacation. read more

O'Connors, while it's not my favorite Irish pub, is good enough for a beer and some apps from time to time. It's an attractive place with a nice bar and patio. They've got a good sized menu and the people that work there are nice enough. Their beer selection is decent (more local stuff please) and their prices are right in line with a nicer place in a smaller city. They have a pretty good Happy Hour in the afternoon that's worth checking out. So why not 4 or 5 stars? 1. The service can be weird. The last time I was there I ordered a Turkey Reuben which comes with fries. The server brought me the sandwich but no fries because "You didn't say you wanted the fries". What? SMH over that one. 2. This is the only Irish pub that I've been to that never plays Irish music, just country. That's a big ambiance killer. 3. Their food can be really good, or not. My biggest issue: An Irish pub should have awesome Fish and Chips but at O'Conners, they don't. My take is at the bottom of my review. So all in all, 3 stars sounds like a fair rating. And A Little Food For Thought: (A+) Chicken Wonton Tacos. There's nothing Irish about these but that gingery sweet chicken on those crispy shells are the best thing on the menu. (B+) Cheese Sticks. Hard to mess up. They're good, thick and cheesy. (B) Rachel Sandwich/Turkey Reuben with fries is a solid sandwich and a good value for the money. It's better with cole slaw by the way. (B) Scotch Eggs. My dining partner polished them off and said they were pretty good. (B-) Pizza. They make a decent enough pie here. Nothing to get excited about but it's a good Zaa when you're drinking and need something to soak up all that alcohol. (D+) Fish and Chips. Disappointing. You get two huge logs that almost cover the plate. You'll get a several crunchy bites at first but then that thick batter starts to soak up all that grease and before you know it, you just end up with mush. Stopped in for lunch after getting rained out for golf. Nice sized menu with lots of options. I had the Italian sandwich and my friend had the Rueben. Both of us had potato wedges. All the food came out hot and we were both totally satisfied. Sandwiches were meaty! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Unlucky Irish Haven't been in the place in a few years and thought I'd give it another try with a friend of mine who loves this kind of food. At 11:45 we were the only people in the restaurant. Although the service was good, in the food came in a reasonable time, we were both very disappointed in the quality of the food. I got the fish platter which was described as the deep-fried cod it was a great size way too much food, but it was so greasy and tough and tasteless that I threw the rest out. I can eat about anything and won't bother me, but my stomach bothered me all day. They don't make their own coleslaw I don't think they make anything themselves. My friend got a hamburger and couldn't believe how tough and stale the bread was. And he's not picky! I have no reason to go back as there is many great places in Springfield. I guess they survive because some people just like cold beer and sports. read more

O'Connors Irish Pub, Springfield, Ohio Went to O'Connors with friends to celebrate a yearly event, seated inside the outdoor patio area. As the weather was a bit chilly for a May evening, I asked a server if the overhead garage door above our tables could be close to help keep some of our party warm. The kind waitress said shed need to ask "The Manager" and returned in a few minutes to tell us "NO". I asked again, with the same results-"NO". Another kind server stopped at our tables to inform us that if we keep asking, it will just upset "The Manager". We have frequented this establishment MANY MANY times over the time it has been at this location and at the former one, so it was not our first time. "The Manager" DID come out to the Patio area, sat 15-20 feet from our tables, but made absolutely NO attempt to stop by our tables, greet our party, give any reasoning as to why they were unconcerned about the comfort of their loyal patrons, nothing. I collected our wonderful server (she was only doing as instructed by "The Manager", so we do not fault her one bit, nor the other server-also terrific-for attempting to make their guests feel welcomed and comfortable), asked for our party's tab. I paid our party's remaining tab in full, and one-by-one we decided to leave for the evening. Two in our party had food, the others finished their beverages, not wishing to purchase anything else and we left. A simple gesture of "The Manager" to stop by, learn their clientele and do what a good inn-keeper would do for the comfort of their patrons possibly would have saved the night. Later on facebook, I left a comment, which led to 'The Manager"/"The Owner" to censor the comments, remove that post and ban this reviewer from their page. Even going as far as stating "I swear to God, I didn't know anything about it" and "Nobody informed me about this". Untruthful is not a way to run any business, let alone a restraint/bar/event place. Poor form, poor manners and I believe it when other patrons tell me that their servers are 'afraid' of "The Manager"/"The Owner". THIS is how you get PERMANENTLY booted off of my "go to" list: -Have a hostess that seems half disappointed you've shown up, and takes you (reluctantly) to an "after-thought" table behind a half wall, even when other seating is available -Waitress walks by you close to half a dozen times, pretending you're not there, without any acknowledgement/"sorry, I'll be right with you," then you see her hanging out and laughing w/other wait staff... -Sloooooooooooow service when you're finally noticed, up until the point when it's time to get the bill... No, wait!! We WEREN'T ready for our check the three times you came to see if we were done!! -"Clean up/Go Home!!!" crew start cleaning up ALL AROUND YOU when it's not even 10pm yet (and there are still customers at the bar AND a ton of drinkers/diners outside!!! This is a reverse case of "don't judge a book by its cover..." It IS a nice place, and they've put a lot of work into this new location, but there's no sense going back to a nice-looking place that has lousy service and will nickel and dime you (extra $2 for onions and peppers on your steak sandwich??!? An $11.50 large draft??!?) when there ARE better options, YES, even here in Springfield. We stopped for a drink and an appetizer (pretzels were great) because this restaurant is located in a plaza along the Simon Kenton Trail - a bike trail that runs from Bellefontaine to Dayton. O'Connor's looks amazing from the distant street, a modern take on the traditional Irish pub. From what I saw inside, the booths had high wood-paneled backs that would create that intimate pub table setting. We sat at the outdoor bar area, and that part of the restaurant needs a few small improvements. While the metal patio tables were fine, the high-top tables really need to be replaced. Pieces of the wooden tables were simply gone, black paint was missing, and the paint that was there was tacky or sticky. There were also more flies in the outdoor bar area that one would expect in a spot with a gentle breeze. In general, the place probably needs a good cleaning. read more

Frozen fried food from a bag labeled as freshly prepared meals. The entire line up comes in bags and boxes and is greasy and worthless. Obvious that nothing is fresh except maybe the pizza, but even then the dough comes frozen as well and it shows. Their "fresh" prime rib comes wrapped in plastic from Gordon Foods and is merely sliced and placed in a large boiling pot of concentrated au jus paste in water. I'm not sure where y'all come from, but that's not how it's made nor anything that should be called "fresh" Unless you're looking for an overpriced drunken night, than this place isn't for you. Their only saving grace is their location, and even then they do not quite understand how to clean their establishment. Very disappointed in my recent experience and will likely never return. Save your time, save your money, try some place else! read more

Oh sure it must be the misfortune of the Irish not to be able to do a bit of housework (despite the coronavirus) before allowing customers to eat and drink outside on the patio. As we sat there enjoying a really delicious pint of Guinness (creamy and fresh) and then a Smithwicks (Irish red ale) we had to look at filth on the ground around the tables, cigarette butts, napkins, stagnant water etc. none of which improves the taste of the food. Came here for lunch while driving through. The spinach salad was good as was the pesto wrap. The tacos were too greasy for our grandson and he didn't finish them. As many places right now I guess there are not enough on staff so the service was slow. Sort to say, everything felt a bit grubby. We went to O'Connor tonight in honor of National Onion Ring Day! Excited as we've been before. So we were seated inside. Given menu's, they were paper listed a number of items, but no prices listed. Hmmm, ok so we order the Dublin Dip, nope meat wasn't prepared. Choose cheese burgers. They came need a few other items but the waitress was into waiting to be sure we had all we needed or wanted to go with our meal. OUT OF SO MANY ITEMS. WHY WERE THEY OPEN? OK back to the Onion Rings! They came with the burgers, looked over cooked, plus cold!! Plus small in size with 5 or 6 on the plate. No for the cost no way!! I love the patio and outdoor seating! My only problem was trying to pay my bill, the bartender got annoyed because I waved at her lol. She told me "I'm one person taking care of 100 of you". My friends ordered food and had to ask for their bill twice from the server. I'm understanding of how busy it is, but it's not something the average customer wants to hear. I've been to this restaurant many times. The last 3 times have just not been good. We went last night and three of us got fish and chips. They were all overcooked. One was actually burnt. The fish was so tough. My husband got bourbon chicken breast and one piece was extremely tough. He said the other was good. Just not great food like it used to be. read more

First off, please don't go there for the food. I learned this the hard way. This is not a restaurant, it is a bar. All the food is frozen, deep fried and so greasy it is sickening. As for the bar, the place is filthy. Dead flies and bugs on the counters, puddles of stagnant water on the patio when it has been sunny all day. cigarette butts all over the place. Really surprised I had never been here before. I have heard good things about it from family and friends for years, so it was nice to finally see what everyone was talking about. Very relaxed and casual atmosphere, but still nice. The patio is a good place to hang out when weather permits. They have a nice beer selection and a full bar with specials everyday. The food smelled good, but I haven't tried it yet. They have wing specials for OSU game days and have pizza specials on Thursday's. I will definitely be in sometime soon to try the food out and grab a few brews. If the food is good enough I'll change my review to a 5 star, but I need to check it out before I give the top review. Constantly out of food from the limited menu... that menu that is disposable yet they reuse... the wings smelled great only wished I got them before my bill... wait staff is half assed but from what I understand they are being screwed by the owners. I really do like o'conners Irish pub, which is why this is hard for me to rate! The old o'conners Irish pub, was a great restaurant/pub, with some fantastic "Irish" food! I know that times are hard with COVID-19, and that menus had to be shortened/reduced due to same! But if you are an "Irish pub, at least keep something on the menu that is Irish! I loved the bangers and mash dish, as well as other good Irish dishes! But right now, where are the "Irish " dishes? I was not impressed with the sandwich menu, which is all it was. No entrees available, and when asked about the "unlisted" menu items, they were basically glorified hamburgers/sandwiches. The appetizers we ordered (mushrooms and bbq wings) were very good. The waitress we had was new, and had to ask another waitress some of our questions, but at least she got the answers! Was not very impressed tonight and might be a very long time before we return! The part that earns the one star review was when we ordered two drinks, Miller light and Yingling on draft. After about 15 minutes our waitress came and said our drinks will be out soon they have to wash some glasses. This was 4:30 in the afternoon on Friday. Very nice bar with a great variety of draft beer. Very friendly staff. We sat at the bar waiting on three other couples. We had a great time interacting with people near us. I had a Mosaic Promise, outstanding! When we moved over to dinner I had a filet. Bonnie, our waitress, was outstanding. The filet was very good with a baked potato. I can't judge the new resturant honestly! Because my wife refused to go there because of the way she was treated at the old place. It was the last time the resturant had a saint paddies day party. She went to give our daughter and her date cupcakes from Shullers bakery .door man asked $5. Cover charge my wife explained her purpose. but he wanted the $5 cover charge. She told him if she wanted to stay. there were places to go than here. At which time he grabbed my wife by the coat and shoved her out the door.
