She had been to Zorba Greek Eatery with her friends recently and, knowing I'm quite fond of Mediterranean cuisine, suggested that my husband and I would enjoy it as much as she had. Indeed we did! Hands down, this small, unassuming restaurant located in a shopping center offered some of the best Greek food I have ever eaten. The three of us shared an amazing meal starting with a combination platter of three delicious, creamy spreads (Melitzanosalata, Tzatziki and Hummus) accompanied by a basket of toasty pita triangles. We also ordered Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves - a favorite of my husband's) while perhaps not homemade, were good. My mom and also ordered the Avgolemono Soup (lemon chicken soup) which, while light on the chicken, had a nice flavor. But the top pick in the starter department was the grilled octopus I ordered. I have eaten this seafood in many places, including my former favorite - a beachside taverna in Cozumel, Mexico that, sadly, has been taken over by the sea. Zorba's grilled octopus was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all, and served in a light sauce that complimented it well. We were quite satiated with our starter picks so my mom and I shared a lamb kabob platter. This included two skewers of lamb chunks (rare, as we asked) along with a heaping pile of Zorba fries (oregano, lemon and feta) that were nicely crisp as ordered. My husband's Gyro platter was piled high with the tasty meat and also came with a mountain of the house's special fried potatoes. We were just took full to take another bite. A healthy piece baklava was packed up as a gift in recognition of my mother's birthday - on the house. Wow. The quantity of food that we received required two bags to bring the leftovers home ... which we will thoroughly savor another time. Our server, Michelle, was outstanding. Cherry, friendly and helpful, she was attentive without being intrusive. A true asset! If you crave authentic, Greek fare, then this place is for you. The restaurant is cozy, not fancy by any means ... on par with a nice pizzeria. Parking is easy in the shopping center. They do a healthy take-out service as well. It's BYOB in case you want to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to accompany your meal. Zorba Greek Eatery will be among our top picks when we return to NJ.

Easy to find right off of Rt 287 and plenty of parking in the back. Avgolemono soup to start was loaded with chicken, and the soup itself was delicious (shh...better than my Mom's when I was a kid - she's now 91. Please don't tell her and break her heart). The crab cake was, no lie, ENTIRELY, made of crab. Amazing! The veggie chip appetizer was also amazing - large thin crisps, not greasy and so good! 3rd starter was their beet salad - so refreshing. If you're not a huge beet lover (I'm not) try it anyway - the earthiness of the beets are mellowed quite a bit and blend nicely with the dressing, tomatoes and feta. For dinner, I had the half-chicken meal - the chicken was excellent with a flavorful lemon sauce and perfectly buttery creamy mashed potatoes. Wow! My wife had the shrimp with pasta - shrimp were huge, sauce well balanced with the pasta and shrimp. Our friends had fish specials - one coated in pistachio and the other a healthy portion of halibut. Both were very pleased with their dishes. For dessert, the pistachio tartufo was great, and my kataifi ekmek was very delicious. Oh - and cocktails were well made. Definitely coming back to Krios! Staff is wonderful! The menu is incredibly diverse, offering an excellent selection of pasta, seafood, chicken, and steak. The food is beautifully prepared. The lemon lobster ravioli was cooked to perfection with an outrageously delicious, perfectly balanced zesty lemon flavor. For dessert, the homemade pistachio cheesecake was decadent, velvety smooth, and packed with creamy flavor. We also loved the extra special Banana Strawberry Flambé, which was prepared tableside right in the intimate dining room for everyone to see! Our service team, led by Blendi, was on top of everything. They were incredibly attentive, accommodating, and welcoming. With great food, sharp service, and very decent pricing, this restaurant is highly recommended. It is an easy 5-minute drive right off Route 287. However, Ive head it does tend to bring in a decent crowd during busier hours and I can understand why! We ordered the saganaki appetizer and individual meals. Didn't really get a chance to visit until today. We got some good news, and I truly believe in celebrating on the same day. So we got ready quickly and drove 1 mile (haha yes, just 1 mile). It's super close to where I live. It was a cold winter night, and as expected, the restaurant was completely empty. From the outside, it doesn't look very big--but once inside, it actually is. There are two different seating areas and one separate space for parties/bookings or multipurpose events. The ambience was good, warm and inviting. We got our desired table easily and started browsing the menu. There were lots of options. we ordered: Kerven Mixed Grill - $60 It was a mix of everything, 1 skewer of Lamb kebab, 2 pc lamb chops, 2 pc meatballs, I replaced beef shish with lamb again, and Gyro The presentation was very eye-catching. The dish comes with fire in the middle and meats placed on both sides -- looked amazing. It's a lot of food for two people, for sure. Overall, the dish was 5/5, except for the lamb chops. They were cooked medium-well by default, but I personally prefer well-done. Other than the lamb chops, everything else was great: It also came with sauces, and they served balloon bread on the house, which was a nice touch. One thing to note: the meat gets cold pretty quickly, and once it's cold, it's not as enjoyable--so definitely eat it while it's hot... Overall, it was a nice fine-dining experience, perfect for family time and celebrating those small but meaningful good moments.
