    Warm soft Turkish bread
    Steve A.

The newest place in my rotation, Fasil has apparently been in town for awhile but it's far enough from downtown that I never discovered it until... I don't even know! Maybe a timely FB post. But finally, I have been introduced to Mediterranean without having to travel. Going in, my favorite reasonably local place was Elmas in Parsippany. A high standard to meet. Let's see how they did. First: They just remodeled in mid-October. I asked, and it was new ceiling, lights, power-wash - the place is elegant. Upscale dining at a reasonable price. Second: the only downside I experienced, they were out of the smoked eggplant I was looking forward to as an appetizer. Finally, all of the positives: * The ezme is an excellent spicy pepper for the excellent soft warm pitas they bring out. It arrived promptly. After squeezing the lemon slices into my water, I wiped the plate clean with the bread. So thoroughly, in fact, that they brought us a second plate! With more bread! (I will quietly note that our table was a little off balance, held by a piece of cardboard I accidentally discovered contained instructions for reheating pitas. I have no way to know if that means the pitas are not fresh made, or if the cardboard comes from elsewhere, or if they make the pitas locally and ship it in the morning. So I can't downvote.) * We split a meat platter for two. I highly recommend that so you can get a taste of the various kebabs on offer. The shaved meat is beyond reproach, perfectly seasoned and a generous quantity with the rice pilaf. Lamb is delicious. Chicken is delicious. Beef was a little overcooked - not quite a downside, IMO. * At the end of the meal, I'm told that spontaneously we were handed a rice pudding to see us off on our first visit. It is deep, rich, large portion, subtle flavors within. All delicious food. Not cheap, not expensive, but you absolutely get more than what you pay for at Fasil. It now replaces Elmas as my go-to Turkish/Mediterranean.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here with my wife on Thursday, very good experience. Food: Started off with the fried calamari because the pictures looked fantastic. The calamari was outstanding and a different type of crispy than I normally have. I ended up getting the chicken Adana and my wife got the chicken kofte we are both very satisfied with the meal. The style in which they serve the kebab not a way that I normally had before, but was certainly unique. Aesthetic: the restaurant was beautiful with ample seating and a nice entrance highlighting some of the good Turkish baked goods Service: our server Tariq was awesome, was definitely on top of things.

Very solid Turkish/ Mediterranean restaurant in the Boonton area. Came here for dinner one night. The food was very flavorful and came out very quickly despite being in the middle of dinner service. The restaurant itself is very clean and looks very fancy. The service was friendly and very helpful. Would recommend for a nicer dinner! I will be back again!

10/10 Food and service is phenomenal, Tarik is an excellent server, very prompt. Very fresh and authentic.

TLDR - filling portions, delicious lamb shish kebabs, plenty of outdoor seating, lacking service at the table, a bit pricey I came here on Memorial Day for a family dinner. It was such a nice warm day, so we opted to sit outside. There was plenty of seating outside! Service: we got seated quickly and felt a bit rushed to order so I ordered some appetizers for us to start. Throughout our meal we felt that the service was a bit lacking because our waiter didn't come by once to refill our water or ask how our meal was. Our waiter seemed a bit busy since he was the only waiter outside. For the most part, we asked him for anything as we saw him hurriedly pass by our table. All the foods: Everything was delicious, although a bit pricey compared to other similar Mediterranean restaurants I've been too. - cold appetizers: really enjoyed scooping a bit of each spread on to the warm pita. Ezme with some hummus is a perfect match! Although we only got 2 stuffed grape leaves with our order, they were so good that I'd order a full version of them next time - Mixed Grill: heaping portion of 6 of their grilled meat items. I think the plate would be just perfect to share among 3 people. My favorite was the lamb shish kebab. The rice and salad complimented the meats well - Yogurt chicken kebab: perfectly grilled chicken! The pita under the chicken tasted a bit soggy. Not sure if they are supposed to be like that. We took the chicken and sauce home as leftovers but left the bed of pita bread at the table I'll be back here for lunch! The lunch menu has similar dishes for a fraction of the price.

Our first visit, and we were impressed. Long time lovers of Mediterranean cuisine, we were delighted, at the nice selection of items, especially the tender lamb, delicious stuffed grape leaves, moust falafel and nicely seasoned baba ganoush. It can get pricey, so be warned. A bottle of domestic still water (28 oz) is $10. Service was very good, and the ambiance is quiet and pleasant.

Since we love Mediterranean food we decided to pick a new place to try. After reading menu we decided on Fasil. It's a corner location in a busy strip mall with outdoor seating weather permitting. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our server was friendly and informative. He answered all of our questions and helped us with our choices. We started with the fried liver and the stuffed grape leaves. Both were delicious. The fried liver was tender and has an amazing light taste to it. The grape leaves were also very tender and had lots of flavor. The mint really stood out. The mixed grill is the way to go to sample many offerings. It was cooked perfectly and included an onion salad. Prices were reasonable for most things on the menu with the exception of a few. $10.00 for a dish of plain vanilla ice cream is way over priced. Watch what you order. Overall we loved this place and will definitely be back. Enjoy

This is a cute restaurant that is priced well. My two sisters and I went on a Saturday night to break our fast and reserved a table online. We originally reserved a table for 6, but change it to 3 a few hours before the reservation. When we got there, they didn't have the updated number of guests but they still seated us immediately. The food tasted great and was fairly priced. I'm knocking off a star because the servers have great intentions, but didn't really deliver. They asked us if we were fasting right when we walked in and gave us dates which is very sweet and considerate as eating dates is the proper way to break your fast. They then asked for our appetizers and asked if we'd like the food to come out after the fast opened or before. We said before. While this is all great, they didn't follow-through: The dates were very hard and the appetizers didn't come out until 10 minutes after fast opened and we had to ask the waiter twice what was taking so long; in total the appetizers came out 30 minutes after we ordered them. We ended up breaking our fast with water, which is not ideal. This was a theme, as our dessert and bill took 20+ min each. The restaurant was about half-full. There was also a birthday going on and they turned the speakers on to play "Happy Birthday to you"...but the speakers were really close to our table and the volume was WAY too loud. I had a ringing in my ears for a while, even after they turned the volume down. I'm not opposed to coming back for take out if I'm in the area. The staff is very culturally competent and friendly, but can be more efficient.

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

It wasn't until hours later when, stomach growling, I traipsed over to the fridge excited for the remnants of my enchiladas de mole, that I realized to my dismay that my comida had desaparecida. I've made up for this absent-minded first experience since, and La Bamba Grill 2 now ranks among my top 3 favorite casual Mexican restaurants in this region. My dining companions and I have variously enjoyed tacos, tostadas, pozole, churrasco, and other dishes. The chicken quesadilla, something I normally only order for the kid and am disappointed by 9 times out of 10 in most restaurants, gets my adult endorsement and also passes the ultimate test: toddler approval. As you can see from my photos, it's stuffed with cheese and chicken (we opted for grilled chicken but you can get the marinated shredded version which is a little spicy). I've trauma-bonded with the aforementioned mole enchiladas, which again, is full of chicken, in a very good and well-flavored mole sauce that's better then most other moles I've had in the area. The platters are huge, with generous amounts of everything. The interior is colorfully and cheerfully decorated with Mexican-themed artwork and adornments, with cozy booths as well as a diner counter. That's because it used to be a classic diner (Boonton Diner), installed in a converted vintage train car! And if the thought of street parallel parking makes you break out in hives, you'll be glad to know this is one of few restaurants on Main St. that has a parking lot. 5 stars. One of my go-tos is the chicken quesadilla, which has a perfect tortilla - crisp on the outside, but gluten-y on the inside - along with stretchy, gooey cheese, which could stand to be more salted. Recently I went with the steak tacos, which had OK flavor, but which I wish were juicier. The chopped onions bring a lot for texture and freshness. I'm such a sucker for their thick, freshly fried tortilla chips. When parking on Boonton's Main Street is full up, La Bamba is easy to recommend because it has its own parking lot! At my last visit, at 1p on a Saturday, takeout orders were flowing, but only two tables inside were occupied.

It was so beautifully decorated and very lively with music and happy people. The hostess checked our reservations and headed up to the booths by the bar. We asked to be seated in the lower section of the restaurant so we can talk and they easily accommodated the request. The service and attention during our meal were incredible. There were several people filling our glasses, clearing plates and providing excellent service without being intrusive. They brought bread to the table, took away wine glasses since we weren't having wine and brought a delightful appetizer platter of hard cheese, meat, olives and veggies. Yum! I normally don't order many appetizers but our friend insisted since he loves them and likes to share. We ordered the calamari, meatballs and roasted artichoke hearts. They brought octopus instead of calamari, but quickly corrected the error. I'm not gonna lie, the octopus looked really good, I would've been ok w/ keeping it. (I recently discovered how much I enjoy it) the calamari was good and the sauce fresh. The meatballs were tender, not overly seasoned. The artichokes didn't look grilled or the way described in the specials. We wondered if it was a different but it was lemony and yummy a we went with it. See pictures for how cool the 3 looked. Plenty of food and very filling. I ordered my signature Cosmo which hit the spot, chilled and the perfect amount of flavors without being too alcohol heavy. No one else drank but I toasted hubby anyway. I ordered the beet salad w/ nuts, goat cheese and added chicken. It was huge! I had it for dinner again last night. The chicken could have been more flavorful or seasoned better but the salad had a lot going on so it was fine. My friend got the beet salad ( no chicken) and burger which she devoured. Some skinny people can eat! My husband ordered a chicken dish but wasn't thrilled with it. The chicken had little flavor and it was overwhelmed with tomatoes and had raw onion. It didn't look great, but he isn't one to complain, especially if he wasn't paying. My friend got the gnocchi bolognese and added chicken. It was a lot of food and he seemed to really enjoy it! We sat for about 3 hours and were not rushed in any way which was super nice. We were so full but somehow split a piece of ricotta cheesecake and the men got cappuccino. All good. Overall, the appetizers were my husband's favorites ( we were celebrating him) the place was beautiful, the owner and servers went above and beyond, and we had a lovely evening. I will go back for sure. I liked that the menu offered both lighter fares, lower cost items, high end steaks and even one of those cheese wheels that look so cool but I can't eat that much pasta! Go check it out if you are in the area.

But I was craving Pakistani food the other night and we weren't anywhere we could cook so I started looking for a place in the area that we were staying when I found this restaurant on Yelp after visiting some breweries in and around the area. So I was like, Let's try it out! She agreed and we drove that way. So we walked in maybe 30 minutes or so before closing and placed a to go order because we didn't want to sit down and be rude by keeping them there after closing. The employees were nice and spoke to my girlfriend in Urdu so I have no idea what they were saying tbh. lol. I just know she ordered several things and I was excited to try them all. I stepped away to use the bathroom while she was doing her thing and when I came back out and I noticed it is a very clean place and decorated very nicely. She ordered: - Palak paneer 4/5 - Chicken kebab 3/5 - Basmati Rice 4/5 - Garlic naan 4/5 - Mutton gosth kharhi 3/5 - Keena paratha 4/5 - Gulab jamun 4/5 The food was good but not as good as hers or her mother's. Theirs is really really good! :D The palek paneer was my favorite. The chicken kabobs were okay just a little dry and lacked flavor. The garlic naan was pretty good. The mutton gosth kharhi was decent but this was my first time having it since I rarely ever eat meat, so I can't really compare it to anything I've had. Absolutely! It's good food and good service, especially considering it was take out. Shukriya!

Perfect order for 6 people without it being too much. We were all able to finish our entrees but you could easily share too. You'll feel like home at this place - we met the owner / chef and even got to try his homemade limoncello. Servers here are great and courses are timed well. Would definitely recommend for any occasion !

We were greeted ebulliently by the very nice server, and the service was great throughout the meal, with two servers and the chef or manager (both?) checking on us. There is an extensive menu, from which I chose the Jersey Carbonara and my dining partner had the Shrimp and Pancetta Risotto. We rounded off our meal with what I hope was a decaf capuccino--one of the smoothest coffee drinks I've had the pleasure to sample--and a truffle with two kinds of ice cream and a little jujube inside. 10/10 would eat there again.
