Nice restaurant open year round. We came in mid week in April and it was busy. Many dined in the bar area which looked very comfortable. We ate in the dining room which was set well for a nicer dinner. Our group of six had a variety of menu items. I had the salmon and asked for it over mashed potatoes rather than the Brussels sprouts advertised. They accommodated without question. My meal was delicious. Several had steaks. I had a taste of one and it was well seasoned and tasty. Deserts were a climax with variety enough to share. All were excellent. read more

Quite comfortable venue. Ample onsite parking. Great staff with knowledgeable waiters/ waitresses. Cocktails are generous! The Lobster Mac & Cheese is more than one person can eat. I ordered the Kobe Meatloaf because it sounded interesting. Loved the presentation with roasted baby carrots. The meatloaf was properly seasoned and then grilled to a pleasant texture. We visited O'Bistro this evening, 11/1. Here are our impressions from our dining experience there. My wife and mother had wine and I had a "black manhattan" which was very good. We asked for the bread a couple of times that we enjoy having with our drinks but despite being told that it would be coming, it never showed up until we mentioned it but by then we were in between our appetizer and main course......no excuse for that. My wife and I shared the calamari appetizer which we found to be really superb. As we both enjoy calamari and have ordered it at different establishments in the area, this is clearly our favorite. Crispy, just the right amount of spiciness......truly enjoyable. We gave this dish a solid B+ but not as good as the same dish at the Trenta Restaurant in town. My wife and mother ordered the Steak Tips Frites medium rare and both dishes were cooked to their liking. The fries were very good, not great but good, hot and crispy. I had the kobe burger ordered rare which was a clear disappointment. How difficult is it to prepare a burger? Mine came out quite well-done on the outside and charred and maybe medium on the inside. I can do a lot better at home on the grill. I give this burger a D at best. The dining room at O'Bistro is a bit noisy due to the low ceiling I would guess. A pleasant atmosphere but could use some "personality" in my opinion. read more

We had reservations for 10:30 on Mother's Day today. The food was presented as a buffet which looked great. Unfortunately someone must have forgotten to turn on the Bunsen burners because most of the chaffing dishes were cold. Meatballs, prime rib, Mac n cheese, sausages. (undercooked) red potatoes, green beans with carrots, French toast all cold. Very disappointing and the shrimp on the Bloody Mary smelled fishy. I wonder if the food is cooked somewhere else and brought in since we saw a van in the lot with their name. First and last time trying this venue. read more

Had Valentines dinner last night. We had reservations and got seated immediately. Waitress was friendly and took our drink order but unfortunately we waited almost 20 minutes for the two drinks to arrive and then she forgot my son's milk. Waited another 10 minutes and had to remind her about the milk. She said ... so sorry, I forgot and brought it immediately. The food was great, ordered the 16 ounce NY Strip and it was probably the best steak I've ever eaten. I asked for steak sauce and she never came back with it. I got up and asked a staff person that was just floating around the room about steak sauce and she said they don't offer it.... Very odd. When my waitress eventually came back, I asked about the steak sauce and she said.... Omg I forgot and I think they make their own in the kitchen. Either way never got the sauce. Maybe next time, I'll know better and bring my own. The food was great, the service needs work and hopefully will get better. I think poor service is becoming the norm for this place and people just accept it. read more

Ambiance - Nice renovated place. Felt on the modern side of charming. Service - the host and wait staff couldn't be nicer and attentive. Food - Argh! The ciabatta bread was tasty with the honey butter. Cute presentation in a bag. Appetizers- the Buffalo cauliflower was very tasty. Not too tangy. Main-the short ribs stroganoff was so disappointing. Much of the fat on the meat was left on it. Each bite suffered a torcherous chewing experience with the meat and fat. Did not finish it. Dessert-the peach cobbler was not cooked enough. I have to admit last year I wrote a highly critical critique of this restaurant after my family and I experienced two poor dinners in one week. I did receive an email from management seeking more info regarding my visits , which I provided. I swore it would be a cold day in hell before we patronized the restaurant again. All of that said , my son , wife and baby daughter went to the restaurant several months ago and provided me with a raving review of the food and service received. So... my wife decided to visit again several weeks ago. For the record, I was/ am very pleased to report that my prior posted complaints were no longer applicable, and that the food and service were indeed excellent.... back to the level we'd become accustomed to for many years prior. O has been one of our go to restaurants in Wolfeboro for a few years now. Patti, the manager does a tremendous job at hospitality. We always feel like she knows us and is doing something special just for our visit. The decor is simple and elegant with a dining room that reminds me of farmhouse restaurants I've been to in the past. The food is very well done. Specials are always a treat and the menu items have something for everyone. The meatloaf is terrific, beef stroganoff delicious. Nothing but good things to say! read more

We arrived in time for our 6pm reservation and it took a while for our server to find us. Not sure why, but once she arrived and introduced herself it was smooth sailing. Wine and appetizers (brussel sprouts) were excellent and the service and kitchen were very quick to get our food out to us. We had meatloaf dinner and prime rib. Both were excellent! I go out to O'bistro multiple times each month and every time I'm there, I see the manager Jenn. She always looks incredible; well dressed, with a smile on her face! Her waitstaff are very hardworking and always happy, making it evident they respect and appreciate their boss. I've witnessed Jenn working alongside her staff on many occasions, running food and/or drinks, bussing tables, and even making omelettes at the Mother's Day brunch! She is wonderful at her job, ensuring each guest has the perfect experience! The food and drinks at O'bistro are always delicious and the atmosphere is a perfect combination of laid back and high class. The Ahi Tuna is high grade and prepared perfectly, but the rest of the menu entrees are standard/semi chic American fare. I went here with my family for a special summer dinner. We had a reservation and while they were busy it wasn't full. The hostess, previously one of the world's best kindergarten teachers, joyfully showed us to our table and set us right up. They have the best handmade still warm bread with sweet honey butter. Everyone ordered fish. The swordfish was the special, on top of a bacon and spinach risotto, which was the highlight of the dish, as the swordfish left a little to be desired. The scallops with lobster ravioli were exquisite. I had a delicious salad which came with figs, sunflower seeds and dried tomatoes. I added a side of salmon, which at $15, was a good size but nothing over the top. Overall a very tasty, high quality meal! read more

Wonderful find in Wolfeboro! It is rare that you find my eclectic family taste buds singing in unison, but these folks hit the mark for all four of us! From a nephew that primarily likes only pizza, to a son-in-law that loves huge portions, to a sister that stays true to salads, and to me, that adores seafood, we all left delighted with our meal. The owner and hostess greeted us at the door, and happily sat us with such warmth and charm, it felt like she lived to please us. The waitress was just the right combination of knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was sublime! Truly nobody left the table without complete satisfaction. My Haddock Chowder, Ritz topped delight, was beyond delicious and just unusual enough to be interesting, and simple enough to not be trying too hard. Just used them for takeout for my 46th anniversary. Food remains excellent but they have scaled back their menu to adapt to leaner times due to COVID. Interior seating is limited in compliance with New Hampshire guidelines but I am looking forward to vaccines early next year and a return to more normal times. read more

New to the Wolfeboro area, and went to O bistro for supper. We were greeted warmly, sat promptly (make reservations! ). Our waitress was top notch, the food good. Onion soup very good. My husband had the sirloin tips and I had the 8 oz filet. Cooked properly and the sides were great. The only issue that I had was the room is very noisy, it was hard to have a conversation. I was looking forward to bringing family from out of town for a New Years Eve dinner. The dinner and its crazy restrictions were such a disappointment. It would have been fine if they had communicated the restrictions (very strict and limited fixed menu, NO kids options) in advance, but at no point was it told to us (nor posted anywhere online or mentioned in the flyer in the restaurant). I will say one bright light of the evening was the hostess - she had her hands very full that night and yet was so lovely and accommodating (and the sole reason for 2 stars) We intentionally made an early reservation as we had a toddler - when we arrived they informed us there was no kid's menu which would be one thing, but there was literally not a single kid friendly option at all on the entire menu. And not like we could get creative and ask for just a side of mashed potatoes with a piece of chicken - the waitress (who acted like we were annoyance to her) informed us that everything had been prepared in advance as combined meals so nothing could be customized (and if true it explains the very dry food). I actually understand if they prefer no children at all for a special occasion meal - but tell people in advance! We would happily not have come. It was ridiculous to not offer anything kid friendly. The server brought out a complimentary hors d'oeuvre to start which sounds nice, but we asked what it was she said she wasn't sure. So 2 people with allergies at our table had to avoid just in case since she wasn't inclined to go find out apparently. Even for adults, the fixed menu had none of their usual favorites - favorites that had led to our choosing the restaurant for the night's meal in the first place. Very mediocre tonight. Seem short staffed - the bartender was covering most of the pub room and didn't have time to make drinks for the other waitresses guests - so we all waited until the bar tender had fully taken care of all her tables. Wanted to sit at the bar but were told we needed a reservation - for bar seats? When did that start - O's never took reservations for the bar. And the seats remained 1/2 empty as waited, and ate and finished up. The hostess showed up at 6:30 and didn't seem interested in how anything was with all the guests - she never approached anyone to check in. Needless to say I was super disappointed. At least our waitress finally just got our glasses of wine for us herself since the bartender clearly had no intention of getting to us. Won't be going back soon, at least not this winter. read more

The food here is absolutely amazing. From the appetizer is a must try is the orange chicken it is perfect. We had the cauliflower risotto which sounds weird but it's amazing. Interesting experience. First off the signage leaves much to be desired. To many doors and no clear signs. Although there is a main entrance its unclear if it is the entrance for the Inn or Restaurant. Well apparently the entrance is for both. The ambiance was nice. Very clean and quaint. We sat in the bar area which I was grateful for as the dining room sounded very loud. Food was ok. Warm bread and butter to start with. Although the butter was either unsalted or flavored with something sweet. Kind of a turn off. I ordered the buttermilk chicken with potatoes and bacon gravy. Chicken was cooked well. Nice and juicy. The gravy left much to be desired. Bland. No bacon flavor. My husband had the pork chop. That was the best food of the meal. Chop cooked to perfection and the glaze on it married the flavors together well. Service was good...nice friendly waitress who was attentive. I came to O Bistro with my boyfriend and his family after a long day of snowboarding. We had low expectations because it is attached to an inn. Upon opening the leather bound menu, we were all ashamed for blasting this place before even stepping inside. Being one of the few places in the area that stayed opened during the winter time, the restaurant gets a lot of winter sports enthusiasts craving a hot meal. So bonus points for the complimentary bread at the beginning. In a way, this was also a big mistake on the restaurant's part because the bread came with an apple cinnamon butter spread that was so delicious that it set the bar (too?) high for the rest of the meal. My boyfriend and I split a bruschetta appetizer and we agreed that bread was overly toasted and the tomatoes were sour. I ordered the sea bass special as my main course. The fish was encrusted with sunflower seeds and sat on top a bed of risotto. The sunflower seed topping was very unique and gave the fish an earthy aftertaste. The risotto was overcooked, borderline mush (- 1 star). This didn't bother me too much because this is a common mistake at most restaurants and the fish was the star of the dish. The reactions around the table were mixed. However, the meatloaf seemed to be a big hit amongst the ones who did order it. Plus, service was impeccable. I love this place so much. The second you step out of your car in the parking lot you can smell the amazing food that is to come. This place is hopping! For a small New England town this place is always busy so make sure to make a reservation. The staff is incredible, truly, and the food is even better. Started with the calamari that took a nice Asian twist. It was absolutely perfect in every way. The first time I went and wanted some good New England food so I got the meatloaf, it was perfectly moist and flavorful. This most recent time I got the 12 oz steak and was blown away. It was perfectly cooked and the flavor of the grill perfectly matched this great cut of meat. The staff is amazing, the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is upbeat and fun. Best dinner of the summer so far. Muddled blackberry margarita was strong and yummy. The short rib with mushrooms and sweet potato gnocchi was cooked well and had wonderful flavor. The winner of the evening was Haddock "Chowder"Ritz Cracker & Herb Topped Haddock, Potatoes, Celery, Leeks, Bacon, Cream, Butter. So nicely balanced and delicious!
