We were the only ones in the dining area; there were 2 gentleman at the bar & shortly after we ordered, a couple came in. It was a very slow night for Pub 23. It was extremely cold inside the restaurant, to start. The energy was lackluster from the 2 employees that we were in contact with. It felt like we were an inconvenience. Both my grandmother & I ordered the fish & chips. Mine arrived with not one, but TWO long strands of hair intertwined in the fries & intact with the fish. Wouldn't you think the first thing the waitress would do is take the entire plate back? No, the pieces that had hair on it were removed & the plate left in front of me. I sat there in shock thinking, "You expect me to eat this?" She returned 5 minutes later & took the plate to provide a fresh one AFTER we had to ask. For menu items, it is not recommended to get the steak & cheese or the Pub 23 burger. The burger was a total mess; had to be eaten with a fork & knife. The steak & cheese was salty & slathered in a sauce w/ chewy cubed steak. We chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. My mother asked our waitress if they offer anything for birthdays or if they sing, etc. The waitress snapped with an attitude: "Um no, I don't sing". POSITIVES: The fried pickles are delicious & large! The parmesan wings were cooked well, nice flavor. I hate to say this but I have no desire to return.

We've been avoiding this place for the past 3 summers because from the outside it looks like such a dive. Boy do we ever regret it! Got a pizza to go last weekend and loved it so we returned to try something else. I had fish and chips and F. had meatloaf. My haddock was fresh and crispy, cole slaw delicious, and chips homemade and yummy. F's meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, and broccoli exceeded expectations. We just wished that the waitress didn't disappear after dropping off our check. Fortunately the bartender noticed our credit card and rang it up for us to save the day.

They have three main beers that you can always get, and then about another 3 beers or so of rotating and experimental beers/ciders. If you want to get an idea of the staff this is from my first visit there a few years back. I actually think this was towards the beginning of Covid. We had to get out of dodge and enjoy some relaxation by the lake. When we showed up everywhere we drove by the spots we normally frequented and everywhere was closed, sometime near 8 pm. We did a search and found that here was open and headed over as fast as we could to try to get something to eat. Unfortunately the grill just closed, and we resigned ourselves to a liquid dinner. The chef then pokes his head out and offers to make a pretzel for us, and we could not have been happier. It was a big one too. The staff was just so welcoming and seemingly very happy that we were there... which is not always the case in the general area... that Burnt Timber became one of our usual spots instantly. Each time we've been back it has always been that way, which is even more rare not just here but back in the Boston area as well. So again if you like smoked and fermented things in an unpretentious atmosphere with very friendly staff I'm pretty sure you'll love this place too

There was no clearly marked ADA-accessible entrance or any obvious way for a wheelchair user to safely access the inside of the restaurant. We considered sitting outside, but the awning poles blocked the walkway to the point that we could not comfortably or safely navigate the area with a wheelchair. Even if we had managed to sit outside, we had no accessible way to get inside if the wheelchair user in our party needed to use the restroom. What was perhaps most disappointing was that not one person offered us any guidance, alternative entrance, assistance or possible solution. We were simply left trying to figure it out ourselves. Accessibility is about more than just getting through a door. A person using a wheelchair should be able to enter, dine with their family and friends, and access a restroom with dignity. Sadly, we weren't able to do that here and had no choice but to leave. I sincerely hope Burnt Timber takes a serious look at its accessibility and staff awareness so another family doesn't have the same experience.

I got the zesty cheddar burger and it did not disappoint, juicy and flavorful...might ask for some honey mustard or extra zesty sauce to dip the fries in because for my personal taste they could use a little more flavor but were good nonetheless. The rest of the fam got bbq tenders, a meatball sub, a roast beef sub and a small pizza and we had to ask for boxes because we filled up pretty quickly. Sometimes it's not what is limited that matters, but how someone communicates it, and there was no issue at all. The service was a little slow, although we weren't in any particular hurry. Prices were about what I'd expect for the area, and we were able to walk in and immediately find a couple of seats at the bar. The other patrons were incredibly friendly, which always makes a place more enjoyable. It had a relaxed, local feel, and there was music playing that added to the atmosphere without making it difficult to have a conversation. From what I could tell, this is really the kind of place where you can settle in for a while, listen to some live music, have a few drinks, grab some food, and just enjoy being around people. Being so close to Weirs Beach makes it an easy stop when you're spending time around Lake Winnipesaukee. My one regret is that we didn't get here earlier in the season. I would have liked to try the food and see the full beer selection rather than catching the place right at the end of summer. Based on the atmosphere and our experience at the bar, I'm definitely curious to come back and give those a try. We'll be back next summer, hopefully earlier in the season, and I'll finally get to see what we missed.
