**November 2025: Tuesday - Thursday Stays** I booked a two…read morenight stay here for my roadtrip and had a great experience! Parking: The lot is uncovered and does share the space with the restaurant next door. We were able to find a spot pretty easily on our visit, but it's I can imagine if we were to have come during peak season parking might have been problem Lobby: There are ample places to lounge or sit and enjoy the big screen tvs all around. There were also many areas to plug in your devices that have 3 prong plugs and there was a coffee/tea bar to warm yourself up. Breakfast: Complimentary hot food from 6am-10am for hotel guests. On my visit they had "made to order" pumpkin pancakes (you wave your hand on the machine and it'll make it right then and there), a yogurt machine, oatmeal, some egg dish (either omlette or scrambled, as well as hard boiled), some protein (sausage patty or links), bagels (with a toaster oven) and some accruements. Gym: Although I did not utilize the gym facilities my friend did and he said that they had one cycle, three treadmills, a set of weights (smallest at 5lbs) , kettle bells, and a wall mirror on one side of the room. Room: I loved the big screen tv. They had a smart tv subscription services available; however you'd need to put in your own account info to access the services. They had Disney+, Netflix, and Hulu at minimum. The bed was a little soft for my personal preference, but I did enjoy the soft pillows and the king bed. The shower had a nice hot water pressure and they supplied a large shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion that's attached to the wall. Wifi: It's good for the most part, but sometimes it would cut in and out on my cell phone. It was consistent on my laptop though. Summary: I paid around $125 a night (for a king bed) through booking.com and considering the amenities, parking, room it was definitely worth what I paid. I'd stay here again!

The breakfast was delicious as it offered locally made yogurt (which you could make a parfait) and also decent robo made pancakes. The rooms itself is minimalistic. Water filtration system is easily accessible.

Our room is immaculate! The bed and pillows are comfortable and high quality. The bathroom counter is high for us tall people to enjoy and the black tiled shower with white marble floors is luxurious. Oh the Roam bath products are excellent! The 2 front desk receptionists are eager to please, the overnight one sent a box of chocolates and the daytime one offered us waters and information without prompting. We felt safe and in addition to the room being spotless the common areas including breakfast area were well kept. Breakfast had scrambled eggs, not the machine a prior review mentioned. There are cute shops nearby. Note, the restaurant service is slow at nearby locales. So, spend the extra $ here for a nice stay. Parking in the adjacent lot requires getting a permit at check in to place in your car, an extra step but not cumbersome. The gym looks amazing. And we got a coupon for a free hot popcorn at the adjacent movie theater which had 3 movies showing.

But across 3 different stays here, we ran into a $40 "early check in fee" for a room that was already ready, a bogus guest reservations.com site with an exorbitant extra fee not associated with the actual hotel, and a $50 "upsell fee" for a room we already had reserved as is, no change. Be very careful reserving with the hotel and check your folio when you depart - you cannot assume all is well. Very disappointing.

We needed to stay in the area for one night before a wedding. Now you might not think that would be…read moreproblematic, but it was, considering 1) it was prime Leaf Peeping season, 2) it was a holiday weekend, and 3) the chain hotels that hadn't yet sold out insisted on a two night minimum. So for all of those reasons, we ended up with a one-night reservation at the Mount Whittier Motel in Ossipee and paid $119 for a super clean and neat room. Our positive experience started off when we walked into the office to check in and met Amy -one of the coolest, most engaging, delightful and just plain nice persons we've met in a long time.  She recommended a few restaurants to us, then we shot the breeze and gabbed with her as if she was an old college friend, really -- she was that much fun. Our motel room was a big main room with an attached bath. The main room was big enough, had a TV with a lot of channels, a fridge and microwave, and had plenty of electric outlets. It had one night stand, a pole lamp and a table lamp on the nightstand. The bathroom was bigger than some of the ones we squeezed into at a chain hotel- where the act of closing the door comes THISCLOSE to hitting the toilet. The shower was great with plenty of hot water and pressure. Its located right on Route 16 with plenty of restaurants to the left and the right. Improvement Opportunities Be careful inputting their address into your GPS. We had some trouble finding it because there is an Ossipee and a Central Ossipee and our GPS got confused (or maybe it was operator error?). There's no coffee maker in the room, but coffee is available in the office And then there is the bed with the softest, fluffiest, squishiest mattress ever seen. It was like sleeping on a giant marshmallow or a half filled waterbed. Laying down on one side caused the other side to rise up into the air and set off ripples like an aftershock. It definitely took some getting used to. Bottom line? All in all we had a very good experience at the Mount Whittier Motel.

I really didn't believe him but then lived around the country and understood what he meant. I forgot about that for a long time until I checked into the Mount Whittier Hotel. It's kind of rural but still in civilization to be fair. I was surprised it was about $85/night. Keep in mind this is Ossipee, New Hampshire; POPULATION: 1,711. The room and bathroom is small and basic but clean. You can hear the cars driving by except from about midnight to 5 AM. The family is really nice and before I left, the father gave me a hot cup of masala tea - YUM! But I suggest that they have an iron and ironing board in each room instead of having to go to the front desk to get it. The set up outside is similar to the Bates Motel...time to shower!

I can't imagine a better place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of New England in autumn. Our lodge had a stone fireplace with plenty of chopped wood to help us southerners with the slight chill. Plus, we loved the smell of a wood fire. Sunset Lodges are a good base camp for excursions: Lake W (2 steps from our front door), The Sandwich fair, the Shaker Village, HIKING, Sandwich Creamery, etc. Good restaurants in the area but all the same it was awesome to have a fully stocked kitchen - eating out for 5 days got tiresome. Little details were also appreciated - plenty of strong, hot water, great towels, central heat and really nice sheets. It's not totally roughing it but you are definitely in touch with nature at every turn, I can't remember who described it as "the place before the Interstate System" - but that's it. Except we had wifi. It's a special, special treasure and we are happy to have found it. We will most definitely return - we are thinking to try each season at Sunset Lodge.

There is a special charm and feel you get from the place which is set up for families to create memories without a lot of interruption from the outside. Between the closed in porch, the fireplace or kitchen table inside or the chairs in the yard, the grills by the dock or the beautiful lake there are multiple locations to gather, play games and just share time together. We can envision our family spending a week in this unique setting and actively contemplating when we can schedule our longer visit.
