the space feels bright, clean, and welcoming, with bold red accent walls, warm wood finishes, modern pendant lighting, and an open kitchen that adds a bit of energy without making the room feel noisy. tables are comfortably spaced apart, making conversation easy, while the mix of regulars, office workers, and friends catching up gives the restaurant a comfortable neighbourhood feel.
the service matched the atmosphere: friendly, efficient, and attentive without hovering. our drinks arrived quickly, followed not long after by our meals.
to start, i ordered a vietnamese iced coffee. rich, bold, and sweetened with condensed milk, it delivered that familiar creamy kick that's always hard to resist and paired well with the fresh flavours of lunch.
i decided on the sauté shrimp vermicelli bowl, featuring peeled (but not deveined) shrimp sautéed with garlic, fish sauce, and red chilies, served over vermicelli noodles with an assortment of fresh vegetables. the bowl arrived looking as fresh as it tasted, colourful ribbons of shredded lettuce, cucumber, pickled carrots and daikon, fragrant herbs, and a generous portion of shrimp over the noodles.
the shrimp were tender and nicely seasoned, with the garlic and fish sauce adding plenty of savoury flavour, while the red chilies provided just enough warmth without overpowering the dish. once everything was tossed together, each bite offered a little bit of everything, crisp vegetables, tender shrimp, fresh herbs, and soft vermicelli noodles. it was colourful, healthy, and deeply satisfying while still feeling light enough for lunch.
my friend ordered her usual, the grilled chicken salad, and after seeing it arrive, it wasn't hard to understand why she keeps coming back. generous slices of grilled chicken were layered over green and purple cabbage, cucumber, pickled carrots, daikon, fresh herbs, and finished with crispy fried shallots. it looked every bit as fresh and substantial as my bowl, with plenty of texture and colour.
little minh's doesn't try to reinvent vietnamese food or chase trends. instead, it focuses on what matters: fresh ingredients, balanced flavours, generous portions, and friendly service. sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for, a comfortable neighbourhood restaurant where the food is consistently good, conversation comes easily, and you leave feeling satisfied rather than weighed down.
we were thirsty afterwards though.
