Although it was late in the day, Craig said to bring it over and he'd take a look. I walked in; he dropped what he was doing and opened up my computer. In 10 minutes or less, I was back in business--both problems fixed. It was clear he knew what he was doing and did it extremely well! If you need tech repair and live anywhere near Columbia, MD, call the Computer Shop. You won't regret it! Quality service in every way, from his professional demeanor and kindness to the quality of his work! Thank you, Computer Shop!

This review is the sum total of two vastly different experiences. One was a five star review…read moreencounter at this Computer Shop. The other was so bad that I don't think I'll return. The Good: I came by because my computer and my brother's computer weren't working. The employee quickly diagnosed the problems, walked me through his thought process, and had me out and on my way within the 1/2 hour. I left feeling valued and empowered with knowledge. The Ugly: This shop advertises cellphone screen repair. Usually I do this myself; however, one of my tools had broken and I didn't want to wait for the replacement to come in the mail. AVOID PHONE REPAIR. I dropped my iPhone off around noon. I was informed that they would contact me when the crack in my screen was fixed. I know that a screen replacement isn't a time intensive task; so, when I hadn't heard anything after a few hours, I thought I'd call to see where my item was in the queue. As it turns out, the phone had already been examined. They did not have the proper tools to fully replace the screen and I was informed I could pick up the phone. This should have been communicated to me sooner. When I went to pick up the phone I found that in the process of examining it, they had broken the home button. After sticking around to inquire about this, I was told they could not fix this. In addition, they misplaced one of the screws to open the phone. It's not a huge deal, but it's a slight discoloration and it will be noticeable when I bring it in to the Apple store for an actual repair. This error has resulted in extreme inconvenience and increased cost, as the price for a screen and home button replacement is significantly more expensive now that I have to take it to the Apple store. The only saving grace is that I wasn't charged for this ordeal. The employees definitely know what they're talking about when it comes to computer hardware. Don't come here for cellphones. There was no remedy offered for the mistake made. I understand that mistakes happen when it comes to making repairs. A hand slips, a screw gets lost--okay. An apology and some kind of remedy go a long way to ensuring that a customer doesn't feel taken advantage of.

I decided to upgrade one of our Verizon phones here, thinking the process would be more transparent…read moreand less stressful than a Verizon store, with the hard sales. The good parts; they have pretty much every configuration you could want on hand and you can try them out. The store is beautiful. Downsides: it's really busy, so you often have to wait. Once you're in, it's the same stressful confusing process, complete with periodic attempts at upsells. Why I won't go back: I was supposed to get an essentially free phone through Verizon. My sales associate didn't know to check against different plans, even after I mentioned the phone should be free, can he do that. He said yes. I only barely caught that the trade in was only half the value, and even then he was insistent that it was the normal value. It took two people and me logging into Verizon to prove the point and even then I got push back until, to no surprise to me, it went through. They did apologize, but that was still hundreds of dollars they almost cost me. Also, after all was said and done, they could have given me the 500 gig phone, but did the 256, which I didn't catch on to until after the process was done. We didn't need the 500gig, but it sucks to get cheated out of it because of incompetence/ignorance/inexperience when you're literally going there for the expertise. As far as help with the transfer process it was okay. They got you started but it's not any faster than doing it home or on your own.

At the Columbia Mall location it's always crowded and you have to sign in and an associate will call you when it's your turn. The associates were all pleasant and each very knowledgeable about their specific product expertise that they could assist you with. They have samples of most of the items on display that you can try out to find the product that is right for you. I was impressed that they had a workshop going on in store on how to use an electronic pen for iPads and it was free. You can also preorder products that were not available in store for pickup. I have to admit Apple products are NOT cheap, but as far as value, they seem to hold up well and you can purchase additional warranties to ensure you have coverage if anything goes wrong. All in all, a great product store to come explore, to purchase, or come in to troubleshoot any product issues you may have.

I had been out all morning shopping and picking up things. I had been to many stores and before even stepping foot into this store, I knew it was going to be an annoying venture. They really need to do something with the entrance to this plaza. It is horrible to get in or out of here. No matter when you come here. Pulling in here reminded me why I never usually come here. With the nightmare of the parking situation over for the moment I go inside and start my journey to locate my want. Continued my search for an Apple TV. I went to the section I thought it was in and was not so. While there, I was asked if I needed help, I told them I was just browsing. With that, you would think that you would be left alone. Not the case here for me. They proceeded to follow me around the store. Not discreetly follow me around, but literally two steps behind me follow me around. I hopped from one department to another in hopes that I was making this up in my head, but I wasn't. I had found what I was looking for eventually. I purposefully went and found another staff member to get me what I needed and snag this sale. I don't appreciate being tailed through the store. Then it came time to pay and put in my reward information only to find out that my phone number doesn't match. Never was my number and have no idea how that got attached to my account. Again, did not appreciate being tailed in your store.
